re: the hair: It might also be to parallel Korra; at some point before he runs away, Noatak sits contemplative-like just as Korra did in the first episode. This link has the side-by-side screenshots of it. Although if there's supposed to be a further parallel/foil between them, it's too subtle for me. *shrugs* I hope the Lieutenant is still alive, just 'cause if not then it's really unfortunately that his final episodes were spent being tossed like a ragdoll, but I'm not optimistic. Amon's ability working like a lobotomy is an interesting theory.

Honestly,I love this series and I can't wait for season two...but I was a little disappointed in the finale. Everything felt rushed. Everything. The Amon/Tarrlok story was nice, and if it were given a little more progression I think I would have appreciated it more. It felt so rushed! Even when Tarrlok said "I'm Amon's Brother.." I couldn't help but feel like THAT was the soap opera moment of the episode. I really loved Amon as a villain and part of me felt that this rush at the end was sort of a cop out. Personally,I'd like to see him again. I realize the boat scene(which made me cry because he teared up...) makes it seem impossible but I like to rule out impossibilities with awesome series like this. Besides,I just can't shake the feeling that this won't be the last of him(or even Tarrlok)because we still don't know how EXACTLY he managed to take away peoples bending. I just feel like his whole plan, his method of getting things done, was too awesome to just end it like that. So abruptly.
I love Amon. Love him.
Oh,and I loved seeing Aang at the end but I didn't like that just as soon as Korra lost most of her bending that she got it back. Too quick. I feel like it should have carried over. While I'm still trying to guess what might happen next,I just feel like they closed a few doors too soon.

Ok, so I'm a we bit late for my review. Well I loved it myself, animation and music were some of the best parts of the episode. Bolin could have used more moments to shine but I loved him saving Asami and his bonding with Naga nice, I hope he forms a bond with Naga as the series goes on, Sokka did with Appa so LOL. Little What the heck moments, when Mako got together with Korra wihtout actually breaking up?? I mean yah it seemed like they broke up but they didn't really on screen yah know? If they want fans to like him, have them actually break up on screen or else it seems like hes cheating even more >> Korra going into Avatar state was pretty cool, music really fit. Over all, enjoyed it for the most part and again am looking forward to season 2. I've already got some predictions..
-Iroh 2.0/Asami=Zuko/Katara of the series, where every one hopes they get together but they'll give out cute moments to please the fans but not actually become a couple in the end.
-Bolin/Asami=Aang/Katara of the series, it will slowly become popular as the series goes on and get all kinds of cute little moments. They'll start off as friends and become a couple by the end of the series.
It will be Irosami V.S Bosami fan War till the series ends since Korra/Mako already over with and out of the way. =

"Thanks for looking out for me, Aang" I love how Iroh refers to Korra as "Avatar korra" but refers to Aang directly on a first name basis without the "Avatar" like they knew each other. Some friendships are so strong, they can transcend lifetimes.

I think Mako telling Asami "I care about you" I think was supposed to be the break up lol. It was very subtle, but it's their breaking up point.

Gotta say that these two episodes kept things pretty depressing up until the last few minutes. It was heartbreaking to see Amon's forces attack Air Temple Island a few episodes ago and was even more heartbreaking to see all the Airbenders shackled up on stage. Things just haven't gone well for Airbenders in the last 100+ years.
It was also sort of a bummer that Korra only got to air bend in the very last episode. I liked the Tarlok/Noatok (Amon) story and it felt like the best paced part of the two episodes. I'm with a lot of other people here when I am a little confused on how Amon managed to take away bending with bloodbending. Seems odd.
Zuko's voice on Iroh II was just...unsettling for me. They should have asked Dante Basco to at least do that voice in a deeper tone. It seemed like a child's voice on a middle-aged man.
Glad to see Lin get her bending back. It was a shame that she lost it in the first place. But seeing her lose it just assured me that she would get it back.

I couldn't take Iroh 2 seriously at all when he's drawn like a 30 year old but sounds like 15 year old Zuko, TERRIBLE decision IMO. Honestly, Iroh 2 was a complete throw away character. Other than the fan wank voice casting the character contributed absolutely zero uniqueness. Honestly, the last 3 eps overall writing took a nose dive. Just too many coincidences that fit too perfectly together. Made the finale just feel rushed and sloppy. Speaking of "sloppy", Korra gaining airbending should have been a YAY! moment but all I could focus on was that she using her air bending... by throwing haymakers... right... so her break through with air bending was by punching really hard... right. (blah blah, took away her bending made her free to use air blah blah whatever) Honestly I wished they just toss the whole Iroh 2 thing and focused more on the WHYS/HOWS during the finale. - How did Tenzin and his family get captured - How did Amon figure out he could take bending away via blood bending (and not some BS, cause he's Yakone's son BS, hell still waiting on the explanation on Yakone's ability, other than he's just lucky/born with it) - What was Amon's real motive in doing the equalist thing instead of creating an army of blood benders? Over all it was a fun romp but the last 3 eps make it slightly above average at best for the season 7-8/10

It should be said that the Amon /Tarlok story arch was very powerful and probably one of the most moving aspects of the series which incredible seeing as it was only introduced in the final two episodes.

I think that Tarrlok and Noatak's story was very sad, and I was moved by it for children.
On the other hand, I really felt no sympathy for them as adult characters. I didn't really see how/what it had to do with them becoming the adults they were (Noatak/Amon more than Tarrlok tbqh) when Korra met them.

As mentioned, it was only introduced to us in the last 2 episodes so we only see the book-ends of the story and I agree that a lot is missing. Nevertheless, I do sympathise for their adult characters having seen first hand how age wearies and the years condemn and how we often fail the dearest aspirations and ideals of our childhood selves. Or maybe the word is empathise.

I really enjoyed the finale except for a few parts. First the good. - Tarlok and Amon/Noatok storyline. I must say, backstory is the partners' strong point. It was touching seeing how revenge can shape people for generations. It arguably shows why energybending isn't a good idea. And that ending... Never saw that coming. THIS IS NICK?! Brilliant though. - I like that Amon's ability was physical and real. But I will expound on the bad/irritating. - It was great to see the guys shine, especially Mako. Lord knows they've gotten their tushies kicked the entire season. Now the bad/irritating/odd: - Someone else said, I think, but seeing as Amon's ability was physical, physical healing should have helped it. I like the lobotomy theory, though. - Korra can airbend? I know a lot of people didn't like that she could restore bending, but this was more dues ex machina than even the lion turtle in original ATLA. I would have rather Korra not be able to bend at all than knock out a guy who can WITHSTAND BLOODBENDING with airbending. All in all, I loved the Amon/Tarlock storylines and the finale.

Ok I love the session finally of this series except for a few things.
-As some of you already said it was way to rushed. They should have had at least Like given it some space in between when Mako says I love you to Korra and Korra meeting with Aang. It would have made more sense.
-And at least have Mako break up with the girl. That is weird how it never says he broke up with her. Come on what is this?
-They should have profiled Bumi much more. It would have been more funny.
-What doesn't make sense to me is that how did Korra unlock her airbending? I would love to know.
Other than those things I loved the ending and I can't wait for the second session.

I think Mako's break up with Asami is implied.. sort of the way we never see him say, "Let's go steady," we're supposed to figure out he's saying, "Let's call this what it is and end it." It was kinda clear when he decided to go with Korra to face Amon imo who he was choosing aside from the fact it's been made clear it was endgame for quite a while.
As for the airbending, Aang says that when we are at our lowest point, we're open to the most change, but it's deus ex machina and we know that tends to be Bryke's style lol.
