What If Amon was a bender himself?

The more I try to understand him, the more questions I have, an hour ago I had a strong feeling that Amon could be a bender himself, he knows how to counter them in fights and I bet he has great knowledge about them. I feel his knowledge was lent to Hiroshi for the underground factory and the platnium walls, and the fact that he has so carefully planned this assault on benders maybe he is one, and maybe down the road theres a sozens comet like event where only he will be able to capitalize on and theres no one to stop him...

Feel free to counter, I'm hoping in the end I'm not right.

I don't think that he's a bender. We've seen non-benders be able to fight benders pretty equally in the original series. Ty Lee with her chi blocking, Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors, Sokka, the list goes on.

Whether or not Amon's a true energybender is another topic entirely and one that I don't have an opinion on right now.

I doubt Amon is a bender himself. You don't need to be a bender to counter a bender, and you don't need to know bending to learn them. Anyone can buy teaching scrolls or observe lessons as people learn bending. You don't need the ability to bend, but the ability to observe.

Now as Esile has mentioned above, we don't know if he is an energy bender or not. (Personally I am against him being one.)

I don't think he could be a bender. I'm more partial to the theory he might be an energybender and learned his trick from a spirit. Though how he was able to do that I have no idea.

I am more intrigued by what if any possible connection he has to Tarrlok since Tarrlok had a very strong reaction to being called out as being as bad as Amon.
