I wonder what the recording session for Tahno's voice actor (Rami Malek) was like. I can only imagine.
Mike/Bryan: Hey so, here's a suggestion with what you can do for Tahno's accent. Rami Malek: Okay go for it. Mike/Bryan: Instead of pronouncing Avatar like "Ah-va-tar," we want you to pronounce it like, "Uh-vu-tar" got it? Rami Malek: ... .... alright!
and at the back of their minds, they know exactly who it's intended for. xD Very clever Bryke. Very clever. M. Night will never know.

I can't believe Korra called that dude a pretty boy. Everything about him made my skin crawl. But I guess that's the point...

I personally liked that all of the shipping was pushed into this episode, because it dealt with the main issues and then gets it out of the way so there's more time for Amon and the pro-bending stuff and whatever else. That said, Bolin is the cutest thing ever, oh my freaking gosh. Forget Pabu, I want him. And the heartbreak scene? Aah, poor baby. I teared up when he started crying, haha. But everything was great, and him and Korra were so cute together on their date.
Regarding Mako, I can understand where he's coming from, but at the same time it can't be expected for everyone around him to just sit and wait while he tries to figure out which girl he likes more. He should either commit to going with Asami, or let her know what's going on and take a break, because trying to run the gamut both ways isn't going to work and it's not fair to any of them. Although dating (or breaking up) with Asami does make things more complicated for their Sato sponsorship, I think if Mako handled it well, it wouldn't be a terrible problem. I don't think he's dating her just for that; he was pretty smitten at first.
The sweetie line did make me think of The Promise comics, haha. I was curious if people were going to be as upset with it in here as they were with it in there. To excuse the pun, I think it's sweet, like a younger version of "dear." It's definitely better than gooey pet names.
So that was what was up with Tahno's pronunciation? Ahahaha. Classic. I wonder if there will be more curious pronunciations in the next ep too.
The pro-bending matches were great, I love that both Bolin and Korra got a chance to prove their mettle on their own for the win, since Mako had his in earlier matches. It seems like a lot of time is passing between these episodes, so if Korra had been going to a lot of practices like Bolin said, it makes sense to me that she would have gotten better. Korra knowing how to heal is good news too, I wonder if that skill will be needed again later on, and not just for the pro-bending.
Tahno with his smugness and groupies reminds me a lot of Zelos from Tales of Symphonia. Less charming, however. His eyes look to be in the same style as the mysterious bad guy from the old!Gaang flashbacks; I wonder if perhaps he's related to whoever that guy was. But for him and his team to win their pro-bending match so quickly, that certainly seems scary. I predict that Amon's visit will interrupt just in time for the Fire Ferrets not to lose the match, so that it will have to be picked up again later on. Assuming Tahno doesn't lose his bending, wasn't he in one of the earlier trailers/sneak peeks?

To excuse the pun, I think it's sweet, like a younger version of "dear." It's definitely better than gooey pet names. I wasn't. It sounded more natural here. I can't really explain it. Maybe because it was only done once instead of three or four times.

I too thought all the shipping was a little forced. That being said, it certainly didn't ruin the episode for me. I was cracking up through the whole thing, especially with Bolin's "So, we're alone...all alone...just you and me..." lmao. Also, did anyone else notice how literal the love triangle was in the beginning with the huddle? I wonder if they did that on purpose. I've always been bigger on character development than plot development to be honest, so despite the rush of shipping, this was definitely my kind of episode. Aside from Bolin's many adorable moments though, my favorite part was definitely Jinora and Ikki's romantic advice x). I love Tenzin's family <3 But I totally wanted to cry when Bolin walked in on Mako and Korra kissing . Now I really don't know what to expect from the rest of the season shipping-wise though, since all the shipping we saw in the previews just happened in this one ep O.o. Though that's probably smart on Bryke's part because now it isn't as seemingly predictable. Tahno reminds me of Draco Malfoy lol. Though I am curious to see how he can take other teams out so easily. He can't just be a pretty boy.

Why no 3 PM repeat? Had to wait for someone to put it online instead. Anyway, good episode. The shipping was a bit much, but still enjoyable. Also, I think Bolin may be my favorite person ever. The guy made me split a gut just about everytime he opened his mouth! Edit: Also, this. i.imgur.com/b07kS.png

Great Episode! In my opinion the shipping in this ep didn't feel forced that much, I thought it was more just Korra and Mako's firey personality, and the fact that the whole show is stream lined, and really packed down. But again Bryke is really stepping it up here. This really was an explosive episode. I was shrieking, gasping, or laughing through the whole thing. There is a lot of shipping in it, but I really liked it. After Korra kissed him and then you could tell someone came up on them, I thought it was going to be Asami. But having it be Bolin was much more heartbreaking.
@ Dr. Joe: Aww ... that's so cute! great drawing! But really, that part was hilarious and gut wrenching at the same time. It was bound to happen sooner or later though.
A very interesting cliff hanger there. When I saw the trailer for this ep I thought the Wolfbats looked like a pretty formidable foe, and act like there stuff don't stink, but to find they made all their opponents get hospitalized ... yikes! ... Do you think Amon would perhaps be involved with them some how, although why would he keep any benders around? He already has chi blockers to do his dirty work.

Too much teen drama. The love triangle came on too hard, too fast, and too awkwardly. I'm hoping that this was the "let's give the shippers what they want" episode and the rest of the series will get back to the plot. That said, we needed a lighter episode after the last one. That got dark! I agreed with most of this post. Five episodes in and Korra has already kissed someone. Seems like an episode for the shippers out there. Was never a fan of it, myself. I loved watching the Pro Bending matches though. It's like a team version of boxing. Also "YOU'RE A BAD IDEA!" That is all.

I have to say that I wasn't really expecting a shipping episode to come so early in the show. It came on pretty fast and hit pretty hard and kinda left me reeling. Poor Bolin! I feel really sorry for the poor guy, especially after Korra and him had such a good time on their date. It was cute how Tenzin's wife was so cute towards Korra they should put her in more often she seems like a very likable character.
I'm really happy that Korra came through and pulled out a win for the Fire Ferrets, they shouldn't loose out on a chance at the finals just because there is a stupid love triangle drama going on.
Love this show!

Shipping overload for sure! But I think the writer's just want to advance things as quickly as possible. The show is just 26 episodes. This season, what? 12.
This was really good though. Nice to see Asami again. I feel bad Korra and Mako kissed behind their back. Was I the only one who cracked up when Bolin started crying?! I felt so sad for him and felt so bad for laughing. That was the most adorable thing I've ever seen someone do. His face just lit up with tears and snot!
I like that they pulled through to win the tournament eventually though. Was I the only one who thought the title had NOTHING, well little to do with the actual plot of the episode? idk, just my opinion.

Ugh I absolutely hate the pacing for this series. Out of all the episodes this is definitely my least favorite. The pacing is terrible, I am hit by a very, VERY terrible case of mood whiplash... (leave korra in a beaten and broken mental state after an incredible mindrape... Open up with a shipping episode.)
That said it did have some nice humor, and the action was great this time around. I definitely felt the "boxing" vibe here more than any other episode, especially with that close up of Korra and her water bending.
However all this shipping... I mean, i'm glad it got most of the shipping out of the way, but to me all I feel is that its eating up precious screen time, and to me, this just shows me just how time compressed the series is and is just making me exasperated.
The tournament arc is almost over and the actual tournament has only been featured in one episode. ONE EPISODE.
I am hoping that this episode is simply the hiccup in the road, as so far this great series is being hampered by some serious issues that need to be hammered out. I am really hoping this Amon and equalist arc isn't going to be resolved in the first season...

I am really hoping this Amon and equalist arc isn't going to be resolved in the first season... I was under the impression that the first season was written as an entire show with an ending and everything, and then the second season was tacked on afterward with a new storyline. So I think that the Amon/Equalist arc is going to be resolved by the season finale. There are still seven episodes to go, and I hope that the Equalist arc takes up most of them so it feels more fully fleshed out.

Its not so much that I doubt that a major plot point can be resolved in seven episodes... but I don't know if the writers quite have the handle on it.
Everything just feels so squished together, and I find myself mentally preparing myself to be let down in case the rushed feeling permeates throughout the ending rather than giving a satisfying romp.
I'll be VERY happy if I am proven wrong though.

This whole season so far has been mindboggling, mostly because of it's anticipation! But I think this episode did well introducing all these shippings and not making this episode a filler episodes like they have been known to do in the past! I, however will resist shipping because I think it's far more entertaining not giving in, but bravo on the series to this point!

I think the Equalist conflict will be partly resolved this season and some leftover elements will carry on into the next season.
