Just as the title says, what was the reasoning behind the 11am timeslot? After the latest episode, Legend of Korra is definitely meant for an older audience with its more mature themes and more violent scenes. It would fit perfectly in the original's 8pm timeslot.
Was there ever a reason given for the change in time and day?

I know and I work on Saturday mornings so I never get to see it. I can watch it online but the animation is compromised. I'd rather it be any night.

New eps of just about anything on Nick are at 5:30 here. Not sure about Korra. It doesn't even seem to exist on OzNick...no mention of it even coming soon. But with Cartoon Network stuff...we're usually only a month or two behind he States in getting that.
I'd say it's because of the tween/adult audience that it's bound to attract who want to sleep in on Saturday morning and go out Saturday night.

Yeah, I'm not liking this Saturday morning thing. So far I've slept through both episodes 11 AM premier time and had to catch it at 3.

Don't you guys have DVDRs or something? When it starts here I'll have the timer set whether I'm at home or not.

I have DirecTV, thus two Nick channels, one at 11 when it actually airs here, then again three hours later as it airs out west. I could watch it at either time, but it's still much easier for me to dig it up online to watch at my own pace. Even without a job (still), I have things to do, so I can't usually park it in front of the TV at 11 or 2, but as long as someone records it and uploads it somewhere online, I can pull the show up when I'm able to and still have it marked as watched the day it first aired.
But I do agree, what with what happened in this week's episode and how they portrayed it all, 11 a.m. is very much a WTF timeslot, even if it was with individuals who sleep in in mind.

Friday nights are a death trap for television shows, as most people go out and do other things Friday. This might be why Korra is on a Saturday and not on a Friday like the original show was. However, I always thought that cartoons are not really affected by this Friday death trap because most of the viewers are children who do not really go out. Perhaps they moved it to Saturday morning because they believe that Korra has an older audience?
I miss watching television on a Friday though. It brings back so many memories of getting home from school and seeing the next ATLA episode.

Why wouldn't 11 be a good time spot? Many people are home and its generally a relax day for people after a long work week. I live in San Diego and I know that's when most people are home. If you go later in the day people are leaving for stores, the beach, movies, malls, and restaurants. The only other possible option would be a week night at around 8 and who knows how many different shows air around then, along with kids needed to do homework, eat dinner, and go to bed early to go to school the next day and I believe its CST time here as well.

lol if you have time to sleep through the 11am airing, I'm a little jealous.... I don't think it's a bad time, honestly, especially for older audiences. To me, it's better than a Friday night because if I have free time to sit at home and watch TV, I'm probably out doing something else. And for any kid, Saturday morning cartoons are the best part of your youthful years.

I agree 11am seems like a great timeslot to me. It allows the show to have a well rounded viewership of kids watching their saturday morning cartoons and older audiences catching a break from the usual work/college/monday thru friday 9-5 life. Personally I think this is easier to catch than a Friday night slot. But I'm content as long as they don't start changing the air time around like they have previously. If they just keep it consistent, I can make it work.

At first I was a little skeptical about the 11 a.m. timeslot, because I usually sleep in past that on Saturdays. However, I have woke up in time both weeks and enjoyed watching it at this time. I think it's good for the older audience, because through the week I have so much to do with school and stuff that it would be hard to sit down and watch a show. Also, a lot of older viewers more than likely watch other shows in primetime and Avatar would have a hard time competing against major primetime shows.

I like the 11am time slot as well, although it actually airs at 8am in my timezone. But what I like more is that they replay it a few times throughout the weekend, so even if ya miss it you can still catch it later. Unrelated, but I also love how fast Nick adds the episode to the online site. It really seems like they're more on top of it this time around.
I haven't seen any interviews that mention the timeslot reasoning though, but not wanting to compete with primetime shows sounds reasonable. As for content, these episodes have gotten through the Nick filters, so either things have slackened or morning cartoons are more mature than they used to be. I only watch a couple animated shows so I really couldn't say what the trend is.
