I know it is only two episodes in, soon to be three, but is anyone else just not feeling any overwhelming need to ship for this show? I'm not feeling any of the big ships for Korra or even the brothers. The only thing I've jokingly said I was shipping is the already established Tenzin and Pema.
But even seeing the clips prior to the show from Korra Nation, the character information released prior, and then finally the episodes, I just wasn't feeling the need to ship these characters. For me there was a definite pull to ship Aang and Katara.
I thought maybe one of the ships might interst me by now on some level, but they don't.
Perhaps that will change.
Is anyone else feeling this too?

I don't think shipping is something you can plan for...it either clicks or it doesn't. Byrke's pairings don't for me...with the exception of Sukka...so I probably won't...

I'm always a little bit slow when it comes to shipping; I generally just go with the flow of the show. ^^; For LOK I also kind of want to hang back until I get a better understanding of the characters. I know we know their basic archetypes, but like Amon I feel like most of them are still sort of wearing a mask. So, for now, not really.
Plus, with all of the dangerous!action! clips in the trailers, I am way more excited for those than for the shipping scenes. Apparently since FMA ended, I have been lacking in shows with thrill!shock!suspense!, so yay for Amon and his following for filling the void. <3

But I am just amazed at how many people are. Looking at my tumblr dashboard and all the Makorra, Bokorra, etc. I was starting to feel like a freak for not having a ship I like...LOL. Just was wondering if others were feeling less than enthusiastic about this show's shipping options.

I've never really been much of a shipper for any of the shows I watch, other than usually not wanting a particular pairing. I honestly never had an opinion in any direction regarding ATLA, but I am really liking the Korra/Mako pairing for this series. I'm not really a rapid shipper, but I'll definitely be rooting for this couple.

I shipped Zutara in the last series but it was cool to grasp at straws and make crazy connections and have there be at least a slim chance that it would work out. I guess that's just me in that I don't like it when things become too easy, there's no excitement. For LoK I'll go for Borra solely for being the least likely yet plausible choice. If Korako winds up happening that is fine as well as long as there is development to make it believeable and not just someone liking someone for their looks.

Weird, I've had the same feeling as well. It could be because all the shipping I did on ATLA particularly Zutara was so intense I'm kind of "meh" for shipping in Korra. I mean the Zutara/Kataang ship "war" was the first one I ever experienced and looking back on it I must say it was frustrating yet fun and it helped me become a better debater back in those bygone high school days. If anything at the moment it feels like I'll just be enjoying the unfolding love triangle.

Not this time. I would actually be happiest if the shipping stayed in the "teasing" territory while Korra actually stays single. I like romance, but I don't want it to overshadow the the themes of the show if you know what I mean.
Although if you want me to say who I think will the the "official" shipping pair, it will probably be Korra and Mako. Although that is mainly because I see Mako as a Zuko expy until he gets fleshed out more.

Yes, I'm shipping Borra (Bolin/Korra) in this series so far. That pairing really clicks with me. Makorra (Mako/Korra) doesn't as much, especially after this last episode. I really want them to just be friends, but it's only the third episode, my mind can change.
I was a big shipper in the first series though, so that's probably why I've jumped on the shipping bandwagon so fast.

I was hoping that shipping is not a major theme in Korra...but unfortunately it... I agree that a lot of the pairings in ATLA didn't work well for me. I wasn't a Kataang fan and Maiko didn't click with me at all. I thought Sokka/Yue was alright, Sukka was great and felt natural, and Toph's crush on Sokka was cute. So pretty much anything having to do with Sokka worked for me. Hm.

I'm the type of person that's open to all kinds of ships, so it's usually pretty easy for me to ship canon, fanon, whatever. I tend to go for fanon, but I don't get upset when canon ships happen.

Welp, it's official: Bryke's got me hooked on Makorra. I really like their dynamic, and I think that Korra could learn a lot from Mako's "cool under fire" personality. Similarly, Korra could help Mako loosen up and come out of his shell. Plus, they're both ridiculously attractive.
I never really thought about it, but I guess there's just something in me that prefers canon ships. I can't believe how young I was when this all started and I registered with this username. >>;
It's interesting to me how bold Bryke is being with the romance this early in the series. Perhaps a relationship between Mako and Korra could have some sort of plot significance? Can't know for sure.
I agree with Muso's sentiment, though - there's more action and less character interaction thus far than in ATLA, so it seems a little premature to be launching the shipping armadas full force.

Wow, it's been a while since I posted, I'm really going to try to be more active.
I'm kind of shipping, so far I like Mako and Korra, I love their interaction, but I would have to see more episodes to tell whether or not I'm truly liking this pairing. Right now I think that the ship is cute, but I want to see if it speaks to me (I guess that sounds kind of weird). Especially since I don't always like the main "in your face" coupling, I wasn't really into Kataang, even though it was cute, it just wasn't for me.
I shipped a lot of ships in the first Avatar, mainly because I just grew to love them over time (even though some of them didn't happen). Long story short, since I'm rambling now, it kind of takes a while for me to really get into a ship and even still sometimes I can get overdosed on a ship and I wind up having to take a break, or I feel like it's getting shoved fown my throat and I might not ship it.
Not going to lie, I don't know how I feel about the love triangles, I never could stand them in books or anything, but I guess I'll just have to see how it works out.
