Yeah, I know what you're saying. But it always makes me a little sad to know that my fantasies for the series can't ever possibly be fulfilled by the show. Then again, I can't imagine anything so horrible happening in it that it would ruin everything I wanted to happen. Do the creators take a part in writing it or is Dark Horse a completely separate thing?

Yeah, but that can go for any series, really. That's why there's fandom, to fill in the blanks, or do what the series didn't. ^^ I can't remember if there were any more press releases about the new graphic novels, but in the original one, there is this quote: “We had a great experience collaborating with Dark Horse on Avatar: The Last Airbender — The Art of the Animated Series,” series co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino said. “We are excited to work closely with them once again to bring the further adventures of Avatar Aang and his friends to the comic world.” Since the new novels will be considered canon, my guess is that the co-creators would be involved somehow, even if it's just as an overseeing thing, but I can't confirm that.

Joss Whedon is highly involved in their Buffy The Vampire Slayer series...writing most of it himself...which is also canon. He has said he likes the comic version for there are no budget constraints. Dark Horse seem to be very respectful to their creators...

The collection of 'lost adventures'...short comics from various Nick publications and some that never managed to see print...is out...the new, canon comics are due sometime next year...

Oh wow! The plot blurb sounds neat! Looks like those theories about there being factions in the FN that would still be loyal to Ozai rather than just going along with Zuko might get some canon play. The cover art is pretty cute too Even though Aang looks like he's seven there. ^^; So it says FC in the format line... does that mean it'll be in Full Color? The TP acronym's got me kinda confused too... what would that one be for, Touch-Pad? $11 though, that's pretty good, especially if it'll be in color. Thanks Nandi for finding this! ^_^

Yes...FC means full colour...TP means trade paperback, meaning it's square-bound not stapled.
I was also thinking that the 'face-off' could be disgruntled Earth Kingdomers, but it could be Ozai loyalists.
I also like Toph's new outfit...feminine without being too girly.

I'm really glad to see that this is coming out but I'm with asian malaysian. I don't like reading something part way. The cover art is pretty cute too Even though Aang looks like he's seven there. ^^; There's no need to strikethrough that sentence... I thought the same thing.... >_>

Wow, that's so exciting, thanks for letting us know. I was having a pretty bad day, but this just made smile. I'm interested in learning more about this face-off. I like the new looks (clothes wise) for the gaang, though I would like to see Sokka's outfit a bit more, it looks kind of different, so I want to see exactly what it looks like.
I like the thought of a faceoff, at least to me, I always wanted to see how people who still disliked the FN and/or Zuko being the new FL, obviously people won't accept the change quickily, so being able to see some of the trails/tribulations (hopefully) that they will have to endure is exciting.

Ahhh, I could explode with excitement right now! That's less than 6 months away . I think it's likely that the rest of the world might try to over-punish the Fire Nation for the war which will result in hostility between all and maybe the Fire Nation striking back if they're tired of being blamed. Oh my. What's really killing me though is not knowing how much of the 70 in between years this will cover. Can't wait to find out.

Lastly, but in no way least, Dark Horse announced plans for "Avatar: The Last Airbender" with "American Born Chinese" writer and artist Gene Yang writing a trio of 80-page digests intended to bridge the gap between the end of the original series and the upcoming Nickelodeon follow-up, "The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra." www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=34926Glad to read that its still on track for release. Anyone went to the NYCC and got any more details?
