i'ts nice to assume that Guru Patik would be alive..but verrryy unlikely! lol he was the oldest person in the avatar world we've known so far...and i don't think he would live to be 210 years old.
i think the only ones that would be alive would be the Lion Turtle.. (cuz he's kinda immortal), and maybe toph and katara cuz of their benderness...lol

Since we've seen characters that are 100+ and of the main characters, Zuko would be the oldest at about 86.

I think it would be cool to see a flashback of Aang's Funeral. even if its a tiny short one. i kinda wanna see how they bury him or something

^That would be really sad, but interesting to see how they go about laying an Avatar to rest. I agree with others that I hope Aang at least makes an appearance as a spiritual guide to Korra. I want to see him all grown up.

I think I'm kind of frustrated that this is so soon to post-series. I didn't honestly want to know about the characters immediate lives, because while leaving Ursa open ended was annoying, it left an open door for a friggin awesome onslaught of fandom work filling in the blank.
My hope for this is that it doesn't follow in the grand tradition of the JK Rowling epilogue in which it just kind of throws a massive happy ending wrench in anyone's imagination. I want this to be something new and surprising, not a big wrap up series. I liek the direction it seems theyre going in, I just don't wanna see too many flashback type things.

It might be cool if they did a summary of Aang's life like they did Roku's in Avatar and the Fire Lord. Or it could be lame, I guess. But I want to just get all the A:TLA stuff out of the way so we can move on to Korra and not dwell on the past for all twelve episodes.
@whoever said something about Great Divide and Avatar Day being terrible and pointless (sorry I skimmed the last pages and I'm tired) - Well, obviously those types of episodes don't advance the plot much, but they're FUN! Not everything has to be all plot and action all the time. Avatar is targeted at 8 year old boys and I like watching that kind of stuff - lame jokes, overall silliness, carefree attitudes - cause then when we get to the Lake Laogi's of the series it's even more epic. We've seen these characters grow and learn and now it's time to get down to business. Eh, that was a pretty lame argument, but I really like filler.

I wonder what character(s) from TLA will end up in Order of the White Lotus. I could seriously see Sokka in it if still alive......
EDIT: Evidence that shows how Sokka could be in the White Lotus after watching a rerun on nicktoons: O CRAAAP I forgot Sokka got a white lotus piece from his master!! I could seriously see a flashback of Iroh teaching Sokka how to play Pao Sho and stuff about OWL.

^That could be neat. How many characters or children of the characters do you guys think will appear? I want those type of Easter eggs, but not too many. Cabbage Man's "legacy" will be in in series and I bet we get the majority of the main characters. But I wonder how many minor characters will be there. Like Foamy.

It's funny you posted this, because I was wondering about some of those running gag characters like Cabbage Man. Is that a confirmed thing that there will be another Cabbage Man (or something close thereto)?

I think it would have been cool if they sorta detached this arch/storyline from the previous one, so you had your established canon (with the Kataang kiss at the end, Mai and Zuko together, etc.) but it always left a small gap for fandom's imagination. But now they're kinda like, "Well it's a Kataang baby :DDD" so now I'm wondering if they did any altering to pairings, or they just kept the ones at the end of the series together? I'm no Kataang or Maiko fan, but I can deal with there being a Kataang child or w/e, but ngl I'm gonna be a bit peeved if every character is with the exact SAME character they ended up with at the end of the show. It'd seem sloppy to me. lmao I think I digressed a bit from your original point - but regardless, I agree. I hope they don't try to flashback and reveal the ~tales~ of Katara, Sokka, Zuko and whoever else appeared in the first series, and just have it connected at good points. I think it would be nice as well if they make it a series that someone can follow without having to have been a religious watcher of TLA. Of course a reference here or there to the previous series would be nice, but I'd like it if it was generally independent of the first series.

They will have to be pretty brief if it goes your way. As for Ursa I'd prefer that becomes another mini series on its own.

They only have 12 episodes so I dont think there will be time for flashbacks. The importance Aang's lineage goes beyond petty shipping. Aang was the last of the Airbender's signifying a dead-end to the Avatar cycle of reincarnation. I dont see any way Bryke could have left such a crucial aspect of the continuation of the Avatar universe to fandom. Sure, they could have left the identity of Tenzin's mother unknown but that would just beg the question. They didnt even mention if the Gran Gran version of Katara will be making an an appearance let alone the rest of the Gaang.
More over, the further we jump away from the original story's timeframe, the less recognisable the Avatar world have become and the greater the need for convoluted background explanations. The Avatar Universe does not benefit from the extent of Star War's Expanded Universe (if only) to rationalise a big jump into the future while maintaining a credible sense of continuation.

I think Ursa's storyline could be well done. It could be very hard for Zuko to find her. Maybe they can spend a couple episodes on her story in Azulon's death.

Korra had better not be anybody's lovechild from the previous series. I want something brand new with little or no connection to the previous series minus the setting. I don't really mind if Korra is an Avatar, but I would find it more interesting if he/she wasn't. However, "Avatar" is in the title so one is going to be prominently present regardless. I hope it's a girl! ;D Yes, I'm quoting myself. HAHAHAHAHAHA I was right! Ok, back to all that I've missed. Tenzin seems interesting to me. So far we know or it is speculated that Korra is going to Repubic City to train with Tenzin. Tenzin has to be an adult as Aang has been dead for around 16-20 years by now and was an old man at his death (Gah! That makes me sad.) I hope he is like Aang ;D.
