I want to see what was everybody's experience watching the movie in the theater.
Like for mine when the movie started all of the Avatar fans cheered. The audience were respectful and didn't made a sound with a few laughs because they were too shocked how horrible it was.
I got a little in excited in some parts such as the Blue Spirit and some of my excitements died a little after in some disappointing scenes such as No KoiZilla. I was waiting for that in the movie and got excited when I thought Aang was going to do Koizilla but since that didn't happened I was disappointed.
When the movie ended nobody shouted angry rants or anything cause they were too shocked on not only on how it was unfaithful to the series but how horrible it really was. Everybody was in dead silence.
When me and my family got out I said "I don't know whether to laugh or cry" Then this random guy said "You should cry".
So that was my experience watching it. I heard in some experiences that people dressed up.
People of DH tell me your experience if you watched it.

Pretty much similar to yours, a few polite laughs but nothing hilarious. I wanted to scream "BOO Go BACK TO THE FIRE NATION!!!" at Zhao but I didn't want to disturb the silence or make a bad impression on myself.

Right i have not seen the full movie only a bit of it as i flicked through it for the simple fact that the first even 5 minutes put me off. I never used to watch avatar but became quite addcited to it. Now when i heard there was a movie i was SUPER excited. i went round telling everyone i knew. The fact the none of the characters even came close to those in the series was just well unfair. They all really need to watch the series and not change the script i wish they could remake this movie and put it into smaller parts like 2 chapters per movie per book kind of things they could make loads of money. To have an idiot of a director on it was one of the most stupidest things they could have done, plain and simple they have ruind it or should i say the director did. there was nothing to the characters no where near what it was like in the series. I can understand its hard to get even close to anime nto real life but they could have at least tried just a little bit. .................................So glad i got that of my chest

^^Haha that's true, but be nice - she's new to DH! (Welcome!) And seriously, I think everyone needed to vent to fellow Avatards somewhere, even if it's not in the appropriate place. My theater experience.....I think I already forget most of it, so it must not have been anything special. :/ I tend to talk during movies - especially when I'm not that into it - so I was laughing to my friend about how ridiculous Gyatso looked and impersonating him (a big, friendly looking black guy). Then I noticed that the big, black man a seat over from me kept glaring at me. I was just trying to show how silly it was having Gyatso be this big dude, when he's totally not, but it came off the wrong way...... -_______-

I went with my little brother yesterday and we are avatar geeks. (me more than him) I had heard the bad reviews so I went into the theater expecting the worst. When we passed the doors we were greeted to an empty theater. Of course it was a matinée so there was going to be less people but dang, I didn't think it would be empty. We made the best of it though, laughing at the ridiculous casting choices, sub-par acting, and abysmal writing. Zhao was actually my brother's friend's cousin so we cracked jokes whenever we saw him. But even for a rabid avatar fan like me, the movie was pretty hard to sit through. I was actually happy when the credits rolled around =X

That must have been a sight for your experience I also have the same feeling, it was kinda painful to watch the movie

Well, for me, there was a line outside the movie theater before it started and when they took off the rope, I told my friend I went with that I'm going to cry my eyes out if the movie sucks because of M. Night, and this random man told me it shouldn't suck because of the trailers(that made me get my hopes up which probably affected why I was so dang angry after the movie was over). -_____- When other movie trailers were being showed, I could obviously tell EVERYONE was DYING to watch the movie and having super high hopes for it and getting impatient. Throughout the whole movie, everyone was completely silent. There were like, three snickering and giggling people on the "funny scenes", and that's it. Minus myself, who was picking out dumb scenes and choices and mumbling/laughing about it in general. When the movie was over, NO ONE made a sound. When everyone got out, they were attempting to cheer themselves up and trying to find something good about the movie, but you could tell everyone was sad. They were just really respectful.

To quote Sokka: "The effects were nice." To quote my friend whom I dragged with me: "The best part was the popcorn."

I personally didn't see it, since I didn't want to support the racebending. My friends who saw it said that everybody was dressed up and was really quiet except for those awkward, poorly written parts. I think she summed it up on her Twitter. "If you've seen the show, don't see this movie. If you haven't seen the show, go watch the show."

well...i saw it & not in 3D cuz i hate 3D's...and i gotta say, the movie did look way better in the trailers....
i guess if the acting wasn't so bad in certain parts and the writing was better it could have done something for me. The only parts i really liked were the part where aang wakes up, zuko's training on the ship, blue spirit scene, aang/zuko fight (which was awesome IMO) and aang making the wave at the end. the people in my theater were mostly silent through the whole thing, other than a few laughing at parts that weren't supposed to be funny and the part where it was ACTUALLY supposed to be funny (aang/zuko fight).

I saw the midnight premeire a with two of my younger sisters and my dad. I actually ended up dozing off quite a bit ^^; I'd gone horse riding before and was was tired... I need to see it again to prove whether or not it was because it was that boring or if I was tired xDD though ;P Some people dressed up here too. There was a nifty girl in the row behind me dressed as a Kyoshi warrior. Awesome costume. Lost of people with shaved heads. My dad didn't mind the movie, he said it was kinda fast paced and that he hoped there was an extended version like with LOTR

When I saw Dev Patel as Zuko with spiky hair, I remembered Sokka's drawing of him from Avatar Aang. That was funny.

When everyone got out, they were attempting to cheer themselves up and trying to find something good about the movie, but you could tell everyone was sad. They were just really respectful. Ending was a little different from my experience. When we first saw trailers, my roomie and I were pretty hyped about it. It looked like it was going to be a good live-action adaptation. Racebending issues aside, CGI effects were pretty legit. We were so excited that we had our friends excited for it too. We ended up seeing the movie in 3D. The overall mood of the audience was...awkward? Well that probably wouldn't be the best way to describe it...but you could tell a lot of people were disappointed. *spoiler for those who haven't seen that movie* And at that last shot of Azula at the end someone in the theater burst into laughter. As soon as we left the theater one of the first things I saw was my friend who violently threw his 3D glasses on the floor. My roomie also apologized to all of our friends we invited to go see the movie with us. In short we all agreed that it was a waste of our money.
