nah..i think the "katara pushed the firebending soldier" and zhao's prolonged and bad "yesssss" to the firelord was the worst things..lol but HEY,,...don't go bashing it all at once.... i agree, the acting was poor for a lot of the characters, the scenes and movie seemed rushed, the editing/clipping/ and transition was bad, and the diologue was totally fudged up...(and yes....complain about the little rock 2) what else can you people bash about it other than that? (oh..and the race thing) the props/scenery and costumes were all beautifully done..but it was just the lack of explanation (or too much explaining through dialogue) that made this movie go totally sour.....the potential was there....but if M. night didn't have to do allll of the movie.(like the writing) it would have been awesome! but...it's myyyy opinion...no one has to take it, or even listen to it. i'm just expressing it. Bryke should have written and produced it....M. Night could have directed it and gotten away with it to be perfectly honest....but the script was totally dumbfounding and sloppy...that much i agree with with what you guys are saying... overall, after watching it about 3 times...(using notes and my opinions about it) and listing the pros and cons... i'd give the movie about a C....not a C- or a C+ in my standards that's not "OMG i'm never gonna watch this movie again...myyy eyes are burning" (please...melodramatic anyone?) but it's not a "this is fantastic, i'mma tweet it right now!!" it's....average. even the people who thought the movie was good or okay had parts where they were like.."What the f*** did Shaymalamaaa do??" i'm in the middle of this controversy...i don't hate the movie with a burning passion, but i don't love it...just neutral. but everyone, even the people who like the movie agree it wasn't the right direction to take the movie and if Night is gonna do ANOTHER one..he's gonna need some help..both physically, and mentally. cuz he just can do it all.

2-3 years ago I told everyone that shyamalan was going to make a total mess out of this movies, back then I was punished with a %60 or %40 "warning" level, and get laughed at, now I am back to say this.
I told you so.

Some parts I liked, but this movie should have went all out on the bending since thats what really seperates it from everything else. And unfortunately the bending sucked. The only good bending was in the intro clip and some of aang's airbending. The finla wave I did like especially the music in the background, definitely epic.

The bending was definately horrible in this movie. Compared to the show, it took the benders about 5-10x longer to bend something, which really dragged the movie along. And did anyone else LOL/facepalm at the beginning scene, with the bending of all four elements?

Just saw the movie (didn't pay for it though), and oh god. It was the worst. There were many scenes that were awful (when Ohhhng's sphere cracks and Katara goes flying backward, the Earthbender dance party, Blue Spirit scene, Yue falling into the oasis, etc. etc.), but what really irked me was the whole the-Avatar-cannot-have-a-family aspect. This totally kills the whole Roku-is-related-to-Zuko subplot, and makes his internal conflict dumb, because then it isn't Sozin v. Roku. Fail.
Also the Firebending-with-a-source. It is hilarious how no one (minus unnamed fat!Pakku, I think) thinks about dousing all of their torches and whatnot so the firebenders are powerless.
The scene where Eeeeroh tests Ohhhng is hilarious. I was confused as to how Ohhhng was bending all of those - last time I checked, he only knew how to airbend at that point. And maybe, just maybe, the rocking of the boat caused the rock to move?
I didn't understand why the Avatar statue hall had to be relocated to the Northern Air Temple. It's not like anything would have changed much if Shyamalan put it back into the Southern Air Temple. Like, what.
One last thing. I really want to see Zuko trying to hide that ridiculous Blue Spirit wig. Hilarious, and totally unrealistic.
tl;dr, the movie was crap. Try not to pay to see it.

same as what Lady Juse said....i thought it was okay...but it's definitely not the greatest movie of all time....not by far... there were aspects of it that i liked though compared to the show....(giant tidal wave=showing humility, yue's hair turning back to brown, zhao getting killed by waterbenders, air nomad clips & the bowing back) there were some scenes where i'm like but aang in the AS looked freakin' cool. ;D and noah ringer is a very emotional character, you could feel the emotion emitting off the screen and into your heart on the final wave scene. (IMO) im definitely not saying everyone should like it..because i don't try to make others think differently than their own opinion...it's just MY opinion. i know many of you don't like my opinion..but that's just too bad. ;D for the record...if many of you think i'm "betraying" the series by watching and kinda liking the movie...i still loveee the show more...soo.. the episode The Ember Island Players was a great example of the fans who saw the movie xD

This totally kills the whole Roku-is-related-to-Zuko subplot, and makes his internal conflict dumb, because then it isn't Sozin v. Roku. Fail. I would hate to see the storyline be "twisted" around if there will ever (and for everyone's sake... let's HOPE NOT) be a sequel to Last Airbender. Sozin vs. Roku is an important storyline throughout the series itself, and only to see it not included is well... I know the movie is centered on Aang saving the world...we know that, and 10 year olds know that... but it wouldn't kill to have a sub character story line in the movie either. And M. Night wanted to make the film more "logical" "relevant" & "realistic." For Bryke's sake, there was a reason why the Fire Nation was the most feared and powerful during the war... and having them carry around a source of fire just makes the whole movie seem illogical.

You all seem to have forgoten THAT SOZIN'S COMET GIVES THEM ULTIMATE FIRE POWAR! And if that Earthbending Camp for Morons is any example, the other nations gave up hope.

Ahahaha. I love the GIFs in here. xD The Sphere one is amazing. I actually cringed at that part, as well as when Katara pushes the one guard.

i agree..the diologue and the acting just didn't feel natural..for noah, i can understand cuz he's new at the acting, but the others had no excuse whatsoever...they were all probably like when they first read their lines and probably thinking why there needed to be so much info stuffed into a sentence... like the zuko/katara scene with her telling him that she's the only remaining waterbender of the southern water tribe.... why does he need to know that?!?! he's been to the village..HELLOO? i think what made this movie so bad was the script and the way the actors presented themselves...and all around M. Night being M. Night.

:stands on soap-box:
I believe this movie was made for one reason only: An executive thought s/he could make money if it was made. If anything, fans wanted to see the story continue- not a live action remake of the story that we all came to know and love. So now they were going to try and jam into a two hour movie what took Waaayyyy more time to make in the animated series, and try to do it justice??? Ridiculous. You can't jam 10 pounds of stuff in a bag that only holds 5.
And like ALL live action remake/redux movies, they can't simply do what's already been done; they make little changes for the sake of being different, which rarely enriches the experience and ALWAYS angers geeks like me who want consistency in the story, not two different stories.
Kudos to the guys in the trenches who actually tried doing something decent with the film-- they were given an impossible mission and did the best they could with it. But I will not see the film-- not because of it's quality or lack thereof, but it's the only way I can protest this type of hollywood money-mongering. I WON'T GIVE THEM MY MONEY. I wish I could make every A:TLB fan do the same and make the movie a total bust on the basis of principle.
'nuff said.

If this movie was a stand alone film it would have actually been a relatively decent movie, but being an adaption of something I LOVE it really was a huge disappointment. The special effects, costumes and scenery was absolutely fantastic. But too many things were left out, things left in were done wrong, movie was rushed way too much. And I wanted to SEE more of the story not HEAR it in the dull drum monologue. But I have to say that indeed The Bending took WAY to much effort and time to move the tiniest portion of your element, which left the battle scenes quite lacking if I may say so myself. And that's just tiny portions coming from someone who doesn't care at all of the "Race-bending" issues. I don't mind so much about that, true it is quite sad but....welcome to Hollywood folks.
But I will continue to appreciate the creators of the Cartoon, and I will always have a place in my heart for it. It's an absolutely amazing show and anyone who says differently hasn't watched it. But as much as I want to stand behind the movie and fight for Avatar....it just ain't happening...the movie was a bust.

The more I hear about this movie and Shyamalan, the more I am convinced that he's a real life troll and is secretly laughing at all of us.
