How can Shyamalan actually believe there will be a sequel? I mean even if doesn't read his reviews, he can't ignore them. They will be mentioned, and have been mentioned in interviews concerning this movie. Also, does the studio actually believe there will be people lining up to see the sequel, especailly after all the negative comments concerning the movie. Even if Shyamalan doesn't read the critical reviews, I am sure studio heads do. Lastly, who would line up to go see the sequel? After paying and seeing this movie, I am going to save my money if the new one comes out.

By the way things are going, it's very unlikely there will be a sequel. I can't even see another writer/director taking over, they'd have to start book 1 all over again. After the poor ratings, it's unlikely a new writer/director could even get funding for a "Last Airbender" movie, book 2 or even a new take on book 1. Besides, I remember reading an interview somewhere that M. Night is very sensitive about poor reviews, which is why there was never any follow-up to "Unbreakable" *edit* found that interview www.newsarama.com/film/last-airbender-shyamalan-interview-100707.html

*from the Last Airbender's Youtube channel* HAH! For real? My hope for a good sequel is very little though. The one thing I want him to change is the freakin bending. Bad acting and changed events I can handle, but lame bending from the first movie is unacceptable.

Well, he can't change the universe itself...but the bending effects could change

Here's an article from 'Box Office Spy Blog' that discusses the film's budget and future. blog.boxofficespy.com/2010/06/last-airbender-budget-advertising-costs.htmlSo this film will have to make $580 million to be considered a financial success. But because it's not a critical success, Paramount will have to take that into account, too. Putting out a sequel to a film that not only didn't make the profit they hoped but was also poorly received by critics, the average movie-goer and fans of the original series? They have to think not only in dollar and cents, but in image.

*from the Last Airbender's Youtube channel* HAH! I read that. The film hasn't even made back it's production costs yet; especially not good considering this was being touted as a 'tentpole' film and also considering that ticket sales for this film have slumped considerably since it came out. I'm not saying this person is lying, but unless they can verify this with a reputable source and not hearsay, it is way too soon to announce a sequel. Wait until it's international release and the numbers are totaled, then talk about a sequel.
