Though the critic reviews are hurtful and point toward major disappointment, they are rightfully so. I didn't see the 3D (since my neighborhood theater didn't feature it in 3D >_>) But from the critics critique, I'm glad I didn't waste my money on it. The Last Airbender could have been better and hopefully it doesn't totally sink and we can get a sequel that's better than this one. I'd rather see them remake the first one than make the sequel first. Make the first one right then move on to the second. I didn't see it in 3D and the review are right. The only bright spot was Iroh.

I really would love a remake of this. While I haven't seen the movie yet (and don't intend to until I can get it for free), from what I've read, it seems awful. What really upsets me is the talk of the "post-apocalyptic future". I'm sorry, but did Shyamalan steal the plot of this from some terrible AU on fanfiction.net? I don't understand how he came to that conclusion at all - was he blind when viewing the source material?
Really, I am dissapointed. At least this makes the third season seem awesome.

I kind of did like the thing about Yue's hair - that was interesting. Also, thank God that Zhao didn't punch the fish. The reality wasn't much better, but not as bad as the alternative. Anyway, did anyone else think that Noah Ringer actually did really well? And can I say, MONK GYATSO WAS A G! Awesome! Nicola Peltz wasn't entirely painful, Rathbone performed terribly as expected, Dev Patel did well, and Shaun Toub paid respect to his character. There were some unnecessary over-the-head flares, to be sure, and I felt like the fighting and bending were way overcomplicated and unrealistic. The effects were pretty good. Racebending my foot. I thought that everything was pretty much well integrated, and much of the Water Tribe really was European, like Shymalan said. I admit that in the South the Greenlanders looked out of place, for sure but in the North they pretty much matched Peltz and Rathbone. I personally think that Jackson, Noah and Shaun carried the film. Dev moped and whined and I could do nothing but wince for Nicola and whever they cast as Zhao he was TERRIBLE. Had they kept the few lines of Funny!Sokka in, Jackson would have been fine. I am NOT a fan of Twilight so be clear when I say this that the boy CAN act since Twilight is crap in my eyes as is everyone in it, but I've seen him in Criminal Minds and s.Darko and he's stunning! He can be nerdy, funny, creepy, evil, dark and everything in between. I LOVED SHAUN. He was amazing. I could not ask for a better Iroh. I really couldn't. Out of all the characters besides Gyatso, he was the BEST. Iroh was the only one who was in character despite being thin with dreds. I was kinda disappointed, I had heard so much about fish punching and wanted to see it. That whole sequence with Iroh and then later when HE is the one to go into the Oasis and carry her out touched me deeply and I liked what they did for her hair.

There is nothing in that movie that I remembered, particularly because everything "just happened." I'm hoping for a re-make of the movie, with a new director and a creative flow. I mean, if the main Avatar cast had the choice to voice their own opinions about the movie, it would have gone along the lines of this. Source: the.sockdolager.net/post/760218186

All in favor of Zuko's movie of choice? I figured I wanted to lighten up everyone's moods/feelings about The Last Airbender & after seeing that drawing circulating Tumblr I figured... hey, why not pay DH a visit? It's been 2 years. And, bam! Hope that helps everyone shift from angry/depressive/i feel like i want to claw M. Night's face touchy feely - to "somewhat" okay. We all agree that The Last Airbender wasn't as eye gorging as "Dragonball Evolution." (for anyone fans for the Dragonball series.)

EDIT: For instance, in Roger Ebert's review: "The story takes place in the future, after Man has devastated the planet and survives in the form of beings with magical powers allowing them to influence earth, water and fire." What? I have never, ever heard this before. Where in the world did he get that from? EDIT: I love the picture. 3-D glasses FTW!

So I watched it today.
Spoilers:
No Ocean Spirit devastating the Fire Navy; Aang does some weird Water-Raise move to scare the soldiers. Water is the element of "flowing your emotions out." Acting was lifeless and awkward. Katara did NOTHING. Zhao was confused/scared half the time.

Not to mention (spoilers) I found the actress who plays as Azula to be the most awkward in the ending of the film. I understand that she at least tried to portray Azula in the series, but... the smirk & the twitch! It was such a disturbing way to end the movie.

Her voice was too soft/gentle. She should've stayed quiet, like in the freaking show.
Oh, and Gyatso' actor was pretty epic. I liked that change.

Ah, just so you guys know, we do have a spoilers tag if you want to use it: [*spoiler] [/spoiler*] but with no asterisks. I haven't seen this posted yet, but io9 has hilarious write-up about the movie: M. Night Shyamalan Finally Made a ComedyThe whole thing is great but my favorite part is: "Shyamalan's true achievement in this film is that he takes a thrilling cult TV series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and he systematically leaches all the personality and soul out of it — in order to create something generic enough to serve as a universal spoof of every epic, ever. All the story beats from the show's first season are still present, but Shyamalan manages to make them appear totally arbitrary. Stuff happens, and then more stuff happens, and what does it mean? We never know, because it's time for more stuff to happen. You start out laughing at how random and mindless everything in this movie is, but about an hour into it, you realize that the movie is actually laughing at you, for watching it in the first place. And it's laughing louder than you are, because it's got Dolby surround-sound and you're choking on your suspension of disbelief."

Or the last movie Shyamalan will make?
