For the first two seasons, Aang cant firebend even in the Avatar State. It cant be simply because he hadnt learned firebending because he performs Waterbending the very first time we seem him in the Avatar State in episode 102 ("The Avatar Returns") well before he learned waterbending. In fact, the last episode of the series is the only time we see him firebending in the Avatar State. Anyone have a theory for this?

Hm, I think he didn't firebend in the Avatar State before then because... the situations didn't really call for that element? Like, in The Avatar Returns, he's surrounded by water so it makes sense that he'd waterbend, and same for The Storm & Siege of the North. And in other times where he loses control/gets angry, like in The Southern Air Temple and The Desert, I think it makes sense that he airbends because that's his native element.
Plus, since he had a character-arc issue with firebending, it makes more sense in a writers sort of way for Aang not to firebend until he overcomes that issue. I mean, it'd be kind of weird for Aang to be okay with firebending while in the Avatar State, but not be okay with it otherwise. *shrugs*

Except in M. Night Shyamalan's Avatarverse, the presence of fire in a situation isnt very likely. Also, most of the stuff Aang did in the Avatar State would be out of character for him to do otherwise. Except for the final episodes of season 1 and 2, all the other times that Aang entered into the Avatar State were involuntary, including forming an iceberg around himself.
Still, I appreciate the story arch point.

Actually he did do firebending in the Avatar state in season one. In the winter solstice episode, with the fire temple. Remember, he had needed a way to fight off what was outside the Roku-room (i don't know it's real name ). So Roku put him in the Avatar state. And that was the Avatar state because later in season 2 Aang has dreams about all the times he had been in the Avatar state and that one was included. I think a few reasons he didn't do anymore firebending beyond that episode until the finale is because he wasn't a fully realized Avatar, so he had no control over himself when he's in that state. So it's like he's on autopilot, and maybe even autopilot Aang doesn't use firebending. Also the situation might not have called for it.
