[THE SETTING] The Lands of Fear and Hatred
Two years after the Avatar defeated the Fire Lord and ended the war, things still haven't quite gotten back to normal. By the end of that terrifying summer, many smaller towns had been burned to the ground, and their refugees, unable to rebuild quickly before the onset of winter, moved to the bigger cities of Omashu, Ba Sing Se, and the blossoming desert citadel, Ma Lei, aptly nicknamed Lotus city. On the western coast of the Earth Kingdom, so many have lost contact with loved ones, and many must start over. To escape the taint of the war, there has been a mass exodus across the great desert to find new life in the cities. A tribe of sandbenders sells guides to take caravans across the sands, much to the scorn of their neighboring tribes. Yet even with all the moving, there has been murmurs of revenge. The new king of Omashu has been trying to talk the Earth King into demanding reparation for all the damages caused by the hundred-year battle or even declare war on the Fire Nation outright. Firebenders who elected to settle down in the Earth Kingdom are treated like second class citizens, and there have been rumors of anti-firebender gangs who murder in the night. The only place this thirst for vengence hasn't taken root is Lotus City. Some say its because of the strange system of government there, which consists of twelve senators and no monarch. Some say its because the city is so far in the desert, its people are too busy trying to survive to worry about fighting. And some say its because the mysterious designer of the city, the Great Architect, is a firebender herself. The main focus of this will probably be a Wizard of Oz-like trip over the desert, but there is plenty of room for side adventures. Provided you don't mind a bit of sand. CURRENTLY: The sandsailor is only a day's travel from the city now, but some might not survive to see it. Gemming plans to kill Matsu and Saiki knows Fenny's secret. For those who wish to advertise: Please save these to your computer and host them yourselves so that we won't overload the account.

My character:
Name: Fenny, pronouned "Finny". Given to her as a childhood nickname for loving to play in the water, it's rather ironic now because she can't stand boats for the seasickness. Age: 19 Gender: Female Nation: Born and raised in the western earth kingdom, specifically in the deltas north of Omashu. Bender?: Fenny is a performance firebender. She uses a very elegant controlled style, but is not very successful in battle.
Appearance: Fenny has light brown skin and nut brown slightly messy hair, which she keeps in a ponytail with bits of wire. She is short for her age, about 5 feet exactly, and is rather curvy. Her eyes are apple green and her mouth is very full and wide. She wears a brown cloth jacket which she has sewn up into a shirt, patching in bits of lace and other fabrics in the holes, especially at the elbows and the lower torso. Her pants are poofy and brown, and are mostly obscured by a warrior's split metal skirt. Her shoes are made of several odd pieces of leather, edged and ankled in red. The different pieces of leather fold around each other like a rose, leaving lots of small compartments in which to hide a dagger. A large cream-colored bow is tied around her waste with a black rose carefully embroided on one hanging end. The fabric is actually a firedancer's sash and is used in performace. It smells faintly of swamp water. Lastly, Fenny has a mersnail shell on a thin leather strap around her neck, a token from her fiance, Koda.
Personality:Fenny thinks very maturely for her age, and because of Koda is very comfortable with herself and her womanhood. She can be rather short-tempered though, even snarky. She is also extremely expressive about her feelings, due to early training in acting.
History: Fenny was born a lovechild of a lonely fire nation soldier and an earth kingdom maiden. She was never actually named after her birth. Because motherhood without wedlock now often led to banishment or stoning in the smaller villages, Fenny's mother left her in the swamps to die when she was only a few weeks old. Luckily, the gypsies of the swamp, some of them abandoned by their families themselves over the generations when they were found to be firebenders by mixed heritage, took in Fenny and raised her alongside many other bastard or orphaned children. Therefore Fenny never knew her parents, and never cared to miss them. Fenny was schooled in the ways of flirtation, pickpocketing, and dance, as well as many other gypsy necessities. At age 16 she began to work with their masquer's troop in the spring, touring the south, and once even Omashu. It was there she fell in love with a burly, gentle-eyed drummer named Koda. They were engaged within a year. Unfortunately, before they could be married the next summer, a fleet of pirates attacked the village at which they were curently hosting their acts. Their camp was attacked as well. There was a a terrible skirmish, and many of the troop were killed or fled. Fenny and several of the other young women were taken as prizes, and seperated to different ships. Fenny escaped a few ports and several months later. Roughed up, but not broken in determination, she decided to search for her lost love, with the secret desperate wish they could revive the troop and bring back things to the way they used to be.

I really hope this gets started up and turns into something, I hope his character description sounds okay.
Name: Matsu
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Nation: Born and raised in the Fire Nation.
Bender: Matsu is a semi experienced fire bender who is good enough to be in the ranks of the Fire Nation army.
Appearance: Matsu has black hair that falls to his shoulders and it is usually unkempt because of his lack of attention to it. He has golden brown eyes and pleasant facial features, giving him the appearance of a nice person (Not that he isn’t). Because of this people are sometimes surprised when they find out he was a soldier. Matsu is of average height, around 5’8 and of good physique because of his years of training in the army. After an accident in battle he lost his right arm though. He wears an average Earth Kingdom that is dirty and tattered his shoes are also worn thin. He received the clothing and shoes from the Earth Kingdom family who took him in, but he has not had the chance to acquire anymore clothing. Matsu has a hand held dagger hidden with him that belonged to his brother, he is learning how to use it with his left hand.
Personality: Matsu is a shy and quiet man who prefers not to speak to others. He is not rude just quiet. He is however open to family and friends.
History: Matsu was born in a large city into the Fire Nation. His parents were jewelers and him and his older brother lived in relative comfort because of their business. His mother was a firebender and would frequently use her skills in helping the family business. His older brother, Shanju , was skilled in the martial arts and because his parents could not afford to send Matsu to the school also Shanju would personally teach Matsu. Matsu had little interest in joining the army even though he had the potential with his skills in fighting with or without his bending ability. One day when a member of the royal family entered the shop to purchase some jewelry is loyalty was renewed and he decided when he was older he would join the fire nation army. Shortly before his 16th birthday Matu’s brother died of an illness. His family was heartbroken and Matsu was crushed because he idolized his brother. His resolve to join the army was confirmed when he found out his brother had been one out of many that had died due to the Earth Kingdom. Earth kingdom troops had poisoned food that had was exported from the island ports to the fire nation. Matsu trained harder and soon he enlisted in the army. At twenty Matsu met the love of his life, Kauri. He was about to propose but the proposal didn’t receive the chance to happen as Matsu was deported to fight against a rebel group of Earthbenders who didn’t seem to enjoy the peace that had been uneasily put in place after the war. During the battle he was pinned by a boulder and his right arm was wrenched from his body. His comrades, believing he was dead, left him. Matsu was saved by the stubbornness by the young lady Song, who had talked another family into sheltering him and helping him heal. Matsu was unconscious for several days and when he awoke he was with this strange family in the Earth Kingdom. He stayed with them for only a month maximum before rumors starting going around in the nearest village that he was a firebender spy. Fearing for his life he fled towards Ba Sing Se, even further away from his home. Along the way he is learning how to cope with the loss of his right limb, which is why he is usually in a state of uncleanlyness, explaining why his hair is usually tangled and not in the traditional firenation top knot. Along with learning how to cope with daily things he is also trying to learn how to fight again and maybe one day firebend again. Hearing about the growing new Lotus City he altered his course and headed there.

Name: Hatsuon or Hati (Hawt-sue-on)
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Nation: Born in the Southern Water Tribe but raised in the Earth Kingdom
Bender: Yes, but not a very good one.
Apperance: Hati has a slim curvacious figure. A result of always insisting at being on the top of the fashion for the city. She has full pouting lips and large blue eyes framed with thick dark lashes and she has the usual dark skin of a Water Tribe member. She has dark brown hair pulled back into a single braid with strands of hair connecting to them, lined with beads. (Much like Katara's hair loopies, but against her head and excluding the bun.) Her wardrobe is one of major changes. Whatever it is, it is sure to be in style though.
Personality: She is a persnickity rude person. The only reason she know show to water bend is to suffice her own needs such as cleaning and drinking. She has no idea how to use it as a defense or offensive weapon, in fact her only weapon is a loud scream. It infuriates her attacker and can usually bring the nearest warrior to her raid. Its a very loud scream. She is very rich and she acts like she knows it. SHe's not afraid to speak her mind but its not in the kind way that give most people a better personality, her way is to be flat out rude.

While there her parents were able to start a spa business in Omashu. The rest of her life was spent in complete comfort. Her parents and her were rich. Once Omashu was taken over and turned into New Ozai they still didn't leave. They weren't supporters of the war on either front so they had nothing to fear. After the war was over Hati decided that she needed to sperate herself from her parents and live on her own. She got a whiff that Lotus City did not have a large fashion industry. After gathering money and items she took off to go to Lotus City and start a new fashion capital.

Name: Noa
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Nation: He was born in the Northern Water Tribe but was raised most of his life in the northwestern region of the Earth Kingdom.
Bender?: Noa is a waterbender. He has never received the proper training of the art but he utilizes it to the best of his abilities. The only way he utilizes his bending for combat is by applying it to his swordplay; he freezes the water into the shape of a broadsword. His father (adopted father) trained him strictly in effort for Noa to be able to fend to himself as well as help Noa actually focus on one thing at a time.
Appearance: He looks like any other inhabitant from the polar water tribes. His skin is very tan and he has deep blue eyes. He keeps his dark hair very short. He has very chiseled features usually has his 5 o’clock shadow. He stands at 5ft11 and has a fit physique, always on the move while carrying his waterskin which holds just over two gallons of water. He has where’s regular Earth Kingdom attire from top to bottom with the exception of two accessories. He wears a tooth necklace, the only thing he has from his birthplace as a child. He also carries an unusually long waterskin. The waterskin is sowed onto a circular strap which he wears over one shoulder diagonally to the other side of his waist, wear the opening is.
Personality: Despite is very mature features, Noa is doesn’t necessarily act his age most of the time. Though he is naturally, optimistic, benevolent, and friendly (especially to the ladies), he doesn’t always have the best manners and can come across as rude and ridiculous, but mostly just out right annoying. He is very honest…perhaps too honest, some would say downright blunt. But that doesn’t mean he lets his mouth yap about everything his eyes lay on. He knows when to be quiet about something but he wouldn't hold back if he’s asked a question. Keep in mind there's a difference between 'knowing when to be quiet about something' and 'being quiet: which Noa is not. And if he does attempt to lie…well anyone who’s ever seen him make an attempt know off the bat that he is a terrible liar.
He usually doesn’t take many things seriously. That can be a good thing for it takes an awful a lot to offend him, and he’s usually the most sound during tense situations, but it can also be a bad thing for he may not be serious when seriousness is needed and he usually doesn’t know when “to take a hint.” Which brings up another point, one should not be sarcastic with him; he will not understand any kind of inside joke and can be very gullible. He always tries not to make people worry, and is usually one of the more confident ones in the bunch and is usually the one to put the most confident in other. (again…he’s optimistic and gullible).
History: Noa was born in the Northern Water Tribe but was too young to remember it. When Noa was only about two, his mother and father were part of a fishing crew on a large boat. During one of their trips out at sea, their boat was attack by the Fire Nation Navy. Completely outnumbered, the crew surrendered and were taken prisoner. Sadly the navy had split the prisoners into three groups each on a different ship: men, women, and children. When Noa was split up from his parents, he never saw them again. The ships set to different destinations from there.
Fortunately, the ship that held Noa was ambushed by a fleet of Earth Kingdom ships. The Earth Kingdom took the children prisoners to the nearest port town in the Earth Kingdom. (To shorten the story), Noa was taken in by an Earth Kingdom blacksmith family. His adopted father created weapons for the Earth Kingdom while his adapted mother traveled the region to distribute the weapons. Noa had a very happy life and to his good fortune his family never encountered an ambush from the Fire Nation. Growing up, Noa learned to handle a broadsword form his father and father’s friends. He would travel with his mother and meet and get to know many people. Traveling actually became a favorite pastime. After the war, There many Fire Nation civilians that had already settle on the continent further distributed across the region and slowly mingled in with the rest of the population. But that brought about a lot of tension. Noa didn’t like the heavy atmosphere and decided to move on to see new places. He heard of the city in the desert and had decided to go check it out and see if the place is all it’s supposedly cracked up to be.

-cough- I skimmed through the current RP and it seems I'm a bit late. If I'm too late, I'll just disappear...
Name: Kyi
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Bender?: No
Appearance: Kyi has peach skin and messy light brown hair that falls just past her shoulders. Her bangs are pushed her right and a lock of her hair is tied loosely at the bottom with a forest green hair tie. She has emerald green eyes and stands 5'3" with a few curves here and there. Her outfit includes raggy forest green top with sleeves that reach just past her elbows and is a bit long for her. Beneath are long dark brown gloves that start a few inches above her elbows that ring around her pinky, pointer finger and thumb (sort of like what Sokka's do). On her bottom half she has pants that is the same color as her gloves and wears rounded light brown knee-high boots that sit over her pants (like Aang's). To top it all off, is a dark brown belt that sits loosely around her stomach that she keeps her sword in.
Personality: She, first of all, is very independent and likes to be left alone. She never accepts any help that is offered up to her. Kyi is also very stubborn and usually keeps it quiet. Sometimes, she is so quiet that people don't even realize she is there. She trys to keep away from people, never wanting to talk. This doesn't mean she's mean, she just keeps her mouth shut. But of course, when someone speaks to her, she just doesn't ignore it, but her answer isn't always very polite.
History: Kyi was born at Ba Sing Se and grew up in the Middle Ring. Her parents owned a very successful restaurant there. As a child, she wasn't very social with the other kids her age. She usually spent her time in the kitchen of the restaurant or in her room, looking out the window, watching the people walk by. It wasn't that she was shy, it was that her parents just wanted to keep her near them so they could always keep an eye on her. But Kyi had many friends that she could still reach, but they weren't exactly her age. One of them happened to be the chef, Jiro, who was very friendly and kind to her and she also learned many things from her. She started to spend more time with Jiro than her parents. She loved the stories Jiro told her about his past and about how he wished he could live somewhere where he could get away from all the commotion of the city. When Kyi was 14, he told her that he was skilled with swords and she kept pushing him to teach her. Jiro was hesitant because first of all, she was a young woman who shouldn't have been learning such things. Secondly, he could lose his job. Eventually, he gave in and secretly taught her. She was a quick learner and became rather skilled, but Jiro wasn't able to teach her all he knew before he passed away of a deadly illness. Kyi took Jiro's sword and made it her own, knowing it would make him happy, but Kyi was depressed for a long while after his death. As she grew older, she tend to stay in the kitchen of the restaurant and every once in awhile she served as a maid when there was a lot of business. She tried to keep away from conversation. She'd rather be alone. When she grew old enough, she moved to Lotus City so she could get away from all the commotion of the city.

Name: Saiki Age: 18 Gender: Female Bender: Earth, knows all of her basics as well as a few more complicated moves Appearance: She is tall for her age, and her body is sleek and muscular due to a large number of fights with her older brothers as a child. Her skin is tanned and riddled with faint scars from those fights. She keeps her dark brown hair wound tightly into a braid that falls down to her waist, but there are always a few strands that manage to escape and get into her eyes. During the rare times that she undoes the braid, her hair is slightly wavy from the tightness of the braid. Her eyes are the same deep brown shade as her hair, and are expressionless, letting nothing show through.
Her clothes are mainly hand-me-downs from her brothers, and include an oversized olive green tunic and brown pants that reach down to her ankles. Because it is so big, the sleeves of the tunic are often rolled up to just below her elbows and the bottom hem lies by her mid-thigh. Underneath the tunic she wears a dark brown t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and around her waist there is a leather belt with a dagger and scabbard hanging off of it. She also carries a small messenger-type bag with supplies like food, water and money in it. Her feet are clad in soft, brown leather boots that come partially up her legs, stopping at the mid-shin. She also has a pair of well-worn working gloves without the fingers, made from a thin, light brown leather.
Personality: She is very quiet, and is pessimistic and sarcastic when speaking. She will usually only speak if asked something that can’t be answered by a gesture, or to point out if something is wrong. She is easily angered and even though she manages to keep her anger contained, she can only take so much before she explodes. However, this happens rarely and after it does she is embarrassed and goes off on her own to calm down. Other than these outbursts, she seldom shows emotion and keeps her thoughts to herself. She is also strongly feminist, hating it when others underestimate her because of her gender.
History: She was born in a small Earth nation mining village, and has three older brothers. Most of her childhood was spent fighting with her brothers (with both fists and earth bending) and helping her mother with household chores. When she turned twelve, all three of her brothers and her father were sent to fight in the war and never returned. In order to support herself and her mother, she went to work in the mines until her mother decided to move to Omashu to find a life among the other refugees. She refused to go because of the rumors and instead chose to leave her mother and head for Lotus City. (this is the abridged version of her history, I'll post it in more detail if you want)

Name: Ryu (meaning dragon) Age: 24 Gender: Male Nation: Earth Nation Bender?: Being an ex-Dai Li member, Ryu is a skilled earthbender.
Appearance: Ryu is a tall young man, about 6 feet. He has a stocky build, and is by no means small. He has short, dark brown hair and green eyes with a small goatee on his chin.
Personality: Ryu generally prefers to keep to himself in most situations. He can be very secretive, but if you get on his good side he is usually friendly. Although it is very unwise to cross him, he is also aggressive and has quite a temper. Anybody who tries to harm his younger brother certainly has a death wish.
History: He and his younger brother were born in Ba Sing Se. His father died fighting in the war. Ryu was skilled in earthbending and got himself into the Dai Li to do something with his life and try and forget his pain. But the Dai Li gained a new overseer, and Ryu refused to serve under him. After quitting the Dai Li, he briefly joined in the war himself. Yet another form of escape, in truth. But only a few years after his father's passing, his mother contracted a fatal illness. With nobody else to care for his brother, Ryu came back from the war. With only his brother to live for, he decided they should travel to Lotus City. A place that was rumored to be one of the last peaceful cities left. He wanted his brother to be safe, and so they set off.
Name: Yasuo Age: 8 Gender: Male Nation: Earth Nation Bender?: Yes, but just starting to learn from Ryu.
Appearance: Being only eight years old, Yasuo only stands 4 and half feet tall. He is fairly skinny, and doesn't have much muscle to him in contrast to his elder brother. Had Ryu not been changed forever by the loss of his parents and participating in the Dai Li, they would look almost identical aside from Yasuo being younger, having slightly longer hair and having dark brown eyes instead of his brother's sharp green.
Personality: Yasuo is generally fairly quiet. He only barely remembers his parents and has mostly been taken care of by Ryu, and thus stays with him constantly.
History: See Ryu.

Name: Geming Age: 35 Gender: Male Nation: Earth Kingdom Bender?: Geming is an earthbending master. When fighting his approach is to finish off his opponent as quick and efficiently as possible, no questions asked. He is particularly experienced with using his earthbending for tunneling. He has also studied the techniques of the Dai Lee
Appearance: Geming is stands about 5ft11. He’s not in the tone shape he used to be two years back, as his small gut shows, but he’s still as strong an platypus bear. His eyes are green and his thin dark hair is tied in a small not. He has a thin moustache and small beard. His skin is fair but can easily tan. Always traveling barefoot, Geming wears traditional Earth Kingdom attire; a wide conical hat, a green vest and simple beige pants. He wears long silver bracelets on his forearms and ankles.
Personality: Around the right crowd, Geming is a very civil and kind person. He can be very charismatic and encouraging. He words can be as strong as his brute strength. He wouldn’t think twice to participate in community service for the good of the people…more accurately the good of his people. Geming has an absolute hatred toward firebenders or any other person with an affiliation with the Fire Nation. He won’t get hostile in public but will use anything he sees against them and tell them off. But in seclusion a firebender in Geming’s presence is lost of all safety. Geming won’t hesitate to kill a firebender. And the only reason he does it in secret is because of the authorities. But he feels that even the government of the Earth Kingdom is too scared and delusional to not strike back on the Fire Nation for what they have done. He has no remorse for firebenders and he also has a disdain for waterbenders as well.
History: Geming has been through a lot in his life; the only form of luck ever in his life was bad luck. As a child, he was consisting living as a refugee. To his misfortune every time his family attempted to escape to Ba Sing Se, they were attacked by Fire Nation soldiers. His two sisters and father had been killed within a span of several weeks. Lastly his mother and him were captured and put into a prison hold where they were tortured occasionally. Geming had to watch his mother slowly die of sickness while locked in metal chamber, completely helpless to help her.
At 17, the prison was attack and rescued by the Earth Kingdom army where he was saved. Geming immediately joined the army where he quickly rose into the ranks and heightened his skills as an earthbender.
While in the army, he fell in love with a nurse at one of the camps he would frequently visit. The two decided to marry. Sadly a year later when he was awasy from camp fighintg at a battle, the camp was attacked by the Fire Nation and his wife went missing. He never saw her again. Geming was absolutely devasted. From then on he put even more effort into defeating the Fire Nation.
As a commander at the age of 28, many of his superiors disfavored his barbaric tactics against the Fire Nation, for not only would he order to attack Fire Nation camps, but entire settlements as well. The superiors were especially worried by how easy it was for him Geming to persuade his men to commit such harsh acts. After weeks of compromise, the officials had decided to demote Geming of his position.
Outraged Geming abandoned the army. He decided to make it his mission to persuade his people of the menace of the Fire Nation. And he did so. And he had quickly gained support. In a few weeks he encountered several men that had actually led an underground army…literally.
They were a group of rouge earthbenders sought out to destroy the Fire Nation on the continent. The earthbender’s would travel by tunneling under any landscape. Upon encountering a Fire Nation settlement or camp, the army would attack from below, causing massive earthquakes and sinkholes. The army was small, only about 200 strong. Geming had gained a high level of respect while part of their group; they were a brotherhood.
Two years later when the war finally ended, the rouge group almost felt like their purpose was extinguished. But many of them, Geming included, fueled their motivation, telling them that the Fire Nation still plagues them and they can’t risk another attack on them they must strike first to rid them of the tainted element.
Now, Geming plans a covert operation to recruit earthbenders at the Lotus City. The ultimate goal of the group is to gather a large enough army to head to the Fire Nation homeland for once they reach Fire Nation soil, they will be unstoppable.
(Ironic who turns out to be the plague).

Name: Kin Age: 19 Gender: Male Bender: Firebender, advanced for his age because his father was a Lieutenant General in the Fire Lord’s army. Nation: Born in the Fire Nation, but raised in a Fire Nation-controlled Earth Kingdom city. Appearance: Kin is a tall, slight-framed Firebender. He carries himself as one with authority would due to his upbringing. He has just-longer-than-shoulder-length black hair, the top half of which is kept in a ponytail. His deep, gold eyes are bright, always alert. History: Kin was born in the Fire Nation capital. At the age of five, his father was deported to a small Earth Kingdom city, uprooting the family. Soon after the move, Kin’s father began teaching him to Firebend. Kin learned quickly and continued to advance until his sixteenth birthday. Kin’s father had left a month earlier to uphold a large Earth Kingdom fortress the Fire Nation had captured. Kin and his mother hadn’t heard from him since his departure. On Kin’s sixteenth birthday, a Fire Nation soldier, clothes ragged and eyes still wide with fright, knocked on their door. The soldier relayed the devastating news that Kin’s father had been killed and the fortress had been lost. Kin and his mother would have to go into hiding if they were to survive. For the next year, Kin and his mother fled from city to city. They traded their fine Fire Nation clothes for Earth Kingdom robes. Many times Kin’s mother went without to make sure Kin had something to eat. A month before the war ended, Kin’s mother died. Kin wanted to hate the Earth Kingdom for it, but in his travels he had realized what his Nation had done to these good people. When he heard of a non-prejudiced city in the Earth Kingdom, he through it would be a good place to start anew.

Name: Laryn (L-are-in) Age: 20 Gender: Female Bender: Sand bender, skilled, but tends to limit bending to housekeeping duties, working on the sand sailor, et cetera, preferring weapons for fighting. However, if cornered, she is capable of using bending to fight. Appearance: Laryn has short hair cropped into a neat pixie cut, near-black in color. Her skin is darkly tanned as she has spent most of her life outdoors in the sun. She has an almost fairy-like look, complete with pointed chin and high cheekbones. She’s average height, standing about five foot six, and very skinny, even delicate looking. However, she’s all sinew, and is quite strong. Her every day clothing consists of a knee length, sleeveless tan tunic, slit up to the hip on either side for ease of movement, belted with a brown sash and worn over tan pants. Over that she often wears a brown cloak. Her clothes, which are loose, both to protect her from the heat and to allow her to move, tend to hide what figure she has, sometimes making people believe she's a boy. She owns no jewelry, except for her wedding ring, which she wears on a chain around her neck, tucked into her tunic. Hidden in various places on her person are sundry knives and daggers in varying shapes and sizes. Personality: Laryn is an imminently practical person. Her morals, while definitely present, tend to be flexible. Survival first, moral dilemmas later. In light of this, with self-protection always at the front of her mind, she tends not to share much personal information. Indeed, although she’s generally fairly pleasant, and doesn't mind a good conversation with the right person, she doesn’t like to be crossed and is quite capable of defending herself. The sandbenders she is working with currently have discovered this, and they mostly let her alone, though they seem to think she's a bit odd, with her habits of watching people, and her yen for good conversation with someone intelligent enough to follow along. In conversation, as in other aspects of life, she is polite until crossed. Then, watch out. Sarcasm is a favorite weapon of hers, and she quite enjoys using it. History: Laryn grew up in the desert, and she learned early on to defend herself. She's seen enough fighting in her time among rival tribes to be more than ready to meet problems with a knife. She was married at eighteen, to a boy she had grown up with, fought with, and worked next to her entire life. Only a year into their marriage, however, he was lost to a sandstorm. He was the one person she felt truly understood her, and since then she hasn't had much patience with the quiet life of hardwork which was unavoidable in her village. Last year she decided to set out on her own, and she’s been wandering since, prefering big cities where she can get comfortably lost in crowds to small villages like her own. She makes enough money to get by, acting as a bodyguard for anyone rich enough to pay and going the same direction as her. She heard, through the rumor mill, about Lotus city, and, always willing to see somewhere new, got work on the caravan, deciding it was the perfect way to get across and earn money at the same time.

Name: Rashad...pronouned Rush odd. Age: 19 Gender: Male. Nationality: Earth Kingdom Bending style: Sand/Earth. More skilled in straight earth rather than sand, still learning to get the hang of it. Has average fighting skills in bending and above average skill in close quarters weapons and hand to hand combat.
Physical Appearance: Rashad has semi short really dark brownish hair. He has a tan complexion cause of his days in the desert. He is 5'7'' exact and wears general sandbender style clothing. He wears white wraps around both arms from the forearm to the middle of his hands. He wears a sandmask made from cloth around his neck and carries a small sharp dagger sheathed at his side. Rashad's sandbender clothes are light brown and go over his arms, chest, and abdomen, and sandbender style pants along with worn over tattered shoes. The clothes hang a little loose and away from his body. Rashad has dark brown eyes like his hair and and a little bit rugged facial features so he appears a year or two older than he actually is.
History/Bio: Rashad was born in the lower rings of Ba Sing Se. His father was an earthbending soldier who spent most of his days patrolling the wall. His mother was a typical stay at home woman and because of this Rashad adopted many sexist views about a woman's place. Rashad saw little of his father but did not think much about it becuase he was proud that his father was trying to defend their city. Rashad was out one day when he found an older starving boy in the street. He quickly ran to his mother and told her what he found. They both went out and took him into their home and gave him something to eat and a place to sleep. After 3 days of his stay at Rashad and his mother's house, he told him that his name was Kojima. He'd given himself that name because he couldn't remember the name his biological parents gave him. He lived on the streets in the first place because his parents were killed by thieves in their own home and Kojima managed to escape. Never able to find a real home, he just lived where ever he could find a place to sleep or eat. Which was a different place everyday. His food supply became more and more scarce everyday until he was starving and about to die of malnutrition, thats when Rashad had found him. Because he had no where to go they decided to adopt the boy. Rashad soon became attatched to Kojima and looked up to him. He adored out the older earthbender would take the time to teach him out to earthbend and learn how to function on the streets. Rashad was never far from Kojima's side. Rashed as 10 and Kojima was 14. A year later, Rashad's father retired from the military and came home to his his family and his adopted son that he found out about through one of the mother's letters to him at the wall. The father and Kojima never did see eye to eye with eachother and because of that, they never agreed on anything. Kojima would always be out and come home late, and their father would yell at him for being like this and tell him not to be home so late just out of concern of his safety. The father remembered his wife telling him how their son Rashad had found him he didn't want Kojima to turn up like that again. But Kojima never took his father's concern about him into consideration and continued on like he did. Not long, after the constant yelling and unwanted concern got on Kojima's nerves, he started talking back to his father, and this would go on for several days at a time. Rashad never liked it when people, especially people he knew, would have such extreme arguements and this made him feel insecure and uncomfortable. The mother felt the same and tried to get her husband not to be so hard on the boy. The father would not hear of it though, he felt what he was doing was necessary to keep his Kojima in line. Soon it was obvious that their father was worried that Kojima had connections to a gang and that having Kojima around and wandering the streets could bring the warth of the infamous Dai Li. He especially did not like the fact that Rashad was also wandering around the city with Kojima and he did not want his only son to be injured. On night after his father'd had enough of Kojima's disrespect and back-talking, he hit him and threatend to kick him out of the house. Surprised and shocked by his action, Kojima ran away. Rashad was shocked and disturbed by his new brother's abscense and he went into a long depression while his parents argued more and more. Soon the arguing became worse when his mother became pregnant and had a a baby girl. Rashad longed to be the big brother to her like Kojima had been to him, but he could not bear the weight of his parent's fighting without his new older brother. At age 12 Rashad ran away. He wandered around the city until he heard news that Kojima was still living there. They met and decided that they would run away to the desert and join the sandbenders because of their nomadic life style and it sounded very appealing to Rashad, it sounded a lot like a traveling circus. Kojima and Rashad left Ba Sing Se long before the Avatar and Azula came. Rashad and Kojima have had no contact with their parents or their baby sister and they prefer to keep it that way, and stay with the sand tribe. Rashad is now 19 and Kojima is 23
Personality: Rashad is a calm laid-back but not lazy person. He prefers to think things out in a rational manner, so he uses his head more so than his heart and relies on what his brains tell him rather than his intuition. A semi optimist, he never tells himself he can't do something until he tries, and if he can't, he'll tell himself not to worry cause he'll figure it out eventually. He is generous and a bit of a sexist, he'll offer to carry a woman's bag cause of a woman's lack of 'strength'. Also does not believe in women fighting.

Name: Abeni
Age: 7
Gender: Female
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Bender?: Yes but so bad she can hardly be called a bender. Explanation below.
Appearance: Abeni is a short young girl who lacks any of the childish fat that most children her age have. Because of her environment she grew thin and has a slight gaunt look about her. She has soft muddy brown eyes with light brown hair. When her hair is not covered by a hijab like garment worn by the sand benders they are in two buns at the top of her head. She worked very hard to learn how to put her hair up like that and is proud of herself every time she puts them up correctly. Abeni has a cleft lip though that extends almost to her nostril and it makes her very shy. She wears traditional sand bender clothing and almost always wears her sand cloth that protects her nose and mouth from the sand. She wears it to cover her cleft lip almost all the time.
Personality: Abeni is very shy if she becomes exposed without her mask. If her face is fully covered she is very chatty and will instantly bond with any person who is kind to her. If her mask is removed she will cry or run away or attempt to cover her face so they won’t see her.
History: Abeni was born into a poor Sandbender tribe with a twin sister. Her mother was shunned by the community because her father was not known and the rumors was that he was a crazed earth bender who later died in the desert, but Abeni never found out. Many villagers wanted to disown Abeni when they saw her cleft lip, claiming that bad spirits were punishing her because of her mother’s foolishness. Her mother refused to give her up saying that Abeni’s twin would also suffer if she left. The tribe grudgingly allowed Abeni to live. When she was three her mother married a new man and Abeni instantly realized he had no love for her or her family, but only married her mother to give himself a higher ranking within the tribe. She had never been loved much as a child compared to her twin but now her position in the family was even lower. She was constantly teased by the other children and was even sometimes beaten up by the older ones, making her a very skittish frightened child. When she was five her and her sister began their training as sand benders but Abeni quickly found she had no skill for it. The most she could do was raise dust clouds while her sister was much higher then she was. Now that the other children had even more ammo to use to make fun of her Abeni finally refused to quit learning how to sandbend. She preferred to spend her time drawing in the sand where she quickly learned she finally had one good talent, drawing. Of course it went unnoticed in her tribe. It is possible if Abeni had a good teacher her skills as a sand bender may come back to her but it would still be very hard for her to master it. When Abeni and her sister turned 6 they started traveling with their mother and step father on the sand sailor as they made trips for the tribe for various reasons. Her step father was slowly poisoning her mother against her and on many occasions she was nearly left behind with her mother making a protest, it was always her sister who managed to save her.
How she joins the group: Her family goes to the Sand “oasis” to stock up on supplies for the tribe and she is finally left behind.

Hey guys, is it too late for another character? I'd like to join!! This is my first RP and OC creation, so help me out a bit!
My character:
Name: Naeoko (pronounced: Nay-o-koh) Age: Fifteen Gender: Female Nation: Earth (Ba Sing Se) Bender: Yes, earth. She does not know very much however, and learned from her dad in secret in their apartment because her mom did not approve. Physical Appearence: Naeoko is short, only about four nine. She has brown hair with natural blonde highlights from the sun. Her skin is light, but covered in freckles. Most across the bridge of her nose and her arms. There are, however, a few on her legs, hands, and even her ears. Her teeth are all straight, except for the lower middle tooth, right in front, which is set at a slight angle. She wears a brown shirt with green designs on the front and sleeves. Her pants used to belong to her dad. They're green, baggy, and rolled up to the knee. She wears black closed toed shoes slightly outlined in green. Naeoko also has green wraps on her wrists that end slightly before the elbow. (Kind of like Katara's, cause I think those are awesome) Personality: Naeoko has always been quiet, and was taught so by her parents. She is firm however, when it comes to debates she's always the most involved. She is intelectual and always seises the oppertunity to learn, especially when it comes to bending. She has sharp eyes, and always has an eye for small details. The only thing the can't stand is fire. Ever since their villiage was burned down she has had a mortal fear of fire and its effect. She won't touch a wood burner or even a candle. If fire is anywhere near, she will excuse herself and run. History: Her parents, after a fire nation raid on their town, moved to Ba Sing Se, like so many others. They lived in the lower ring. Her dad was a blacksmith- and not a good one. They did not make much money, but enough to support their small family. When Ba Sing Se was over thrown they ran out of the city. Naoko got lost in the crowds and sepreated from her parents.

Name: Pao Age: 23 Gender: assumed male Nation: Earth Kingdom via Foggy Swamp Bender?: Pao is a waterbender, but mostly focuses on healing.
Appearance: Tan and lanky, Pao keeps his short dark brown hair under a large leaf, per tradition. However, her tries to wear more than a loincloth on a day-to-day basis, as people outside of the swamp don't seem to appreciate it. He is usually seen in some combination of green and blue.
Personality: Pao is the living definition of the word 'decent'. He is kind without being ridiculously soppy. He doesn't seem to pay as much attention to women as a young man is supposed to, but that could be from his complete immersion in studying healing and the sciences. While a very reliable doctor, there is a quality about Pao that makes him seem very young.
History: Pao grew up in the swamps, but wasn't appreciated by the other male swampbenders because he didn't obsess over hunting. Kindly shunned by his peers, Pao drifted into the company of the young fire gypsies who lived at the edge of the swamp. They became close, and soon he felt like the older brother of some of the younger children, especially a very small one named Fenny. As they grew up, Pao retreated back into the swamp, unable to deal with his friends' fierce competitions over lovers and occupations. He did still live towards what he considered the edge of the swamp, and helped the clan with cuts, burns, and births. After the pirates' attack, Pao housed several of his friends in his small hut, and ultimately decided to travel with them as they sought out their scattered families or a new life. After stops in various small cities, Pao made his way to Lotus City with the last of the group, trying to escape the war and its consequences. A parrotpox epidemic a year later finished off his friends and the other waterbenders, leaving him currently the only waterbending healer in the city. While tragic, this has given him an immense amount of prestige, and has led him to have close ties to some very powerful people.
