Well, fat people are the only group you can still make fun of. Nice to know, right? (sarcasm here) But at least (sure nice to know, too) companies have a small reason to not hire overweight people (though other groups might actually rock the boat) because of health care providers...or rather insurance providers. But it's a gray area. And sure not helpful. Hang in there, don't give up, there are jobs out there, and folks who still hire by merit and not PCness. Well let alone many here are not that friendly to the Autistic community let alone the problems and issues these people have with this disorder, I happen to be one of those that are currently Discriminated for my disablity, and there has been enough hate and horror stories about people threatening Autistic people, or families with Autistic Children or siblings, recently another form of that also can be contributed to people ignoring or not paying attention to them, think they do not understand what they are saying, that has happened to me so many times I get depressed, angered, and sometimes wanting to hurt myself for who I am, people in this world are not perfect and unfortunately , that seems to be the case more recently, That is why more people are trying to find ways to cure autism and lower the intelligence level that may cause Autism to be the concern of many, including the many Discriminations that have already made my life a living nightmare.

well, to go off on a tangent, lesser IQ makes for better life in this modern world (I AM KIDDING, but it feels sometimes like this world revolves around morons)
I think Autism though has it's own set of problems. It impacts the environment a bit more than the color of a person's skin, or the gender or sexual orientation (as long as not practiced in public).
By all accounts most people with Autism - by their own admittance, for lack of better words - have problems grasping social mechanisms that come easier to "regular" folks. Not to say that those know how to behave in public, but that is another story.
And the idea of curing Autism, as a parent you want to have the perfect family, for starters, like Ozzy and Harriet, or 'Leave it to Beaver', and it's a killer to see your kid get into trouble around every corner. We want our kids to have a smooth life.
As to folks who threaten others because they are different..I am sure they kick, puppies, too....

We want our kids to have a smooth life. As to folks who threaten others because they are different..I am sure they kick, puppies, too.... Unfortunately in this world, things are not what they used to be, but even so, there was a news report from my local area that reported a cuple people wanted to burn down this person's house because they had a child that was autistic, and that is the reason why I had to add point to this, plus given the matter many of the users and the users of Kataang Forever(now taking a 4 to 5 break from there) seem not understand what Autism is(and about me) can go wrong, And from a standpoint in some countries, people with autism would make that person a "Curse" to humanity, and that means I'd be the threat, well to some countries that want higher intelligence(like China and Japan), it would be a blessing from heaven, but in overall prospectives, not many people see intelligence as the upper hand of the human race, thus I ameaither ignored, argued at, given the cold shoulder, never given responces, or flat out get teased/insulted(or called a mentally challenged person) by those who intelligence is not for America, but only for the truely gifted countries. That makes me here, more of a mentally challenged person then of an intelligent person overall.

Well, considering burning somebody's house down is sick, regardless of reason.
But I have to agree with you that inteligence can be a curse, but for way different reasons than you might think (and most of them are cynical)

Well, mostly I don't raise a fuss and just move on to the next potential job because I can't prove they passed me up for someone else because of my weight.

You just can't hang it on your 'disorder' or condition. You just can't say there is hatret for Autismn, but there is a lot that is hard to understand, that goes against the instinct of a 'normal' person.

Well with the most popular of Avatar Fans who friends with the strict owner of ASN, I can sure say they are not friendly with autistic people, who and to make things worse, here is a news article that really gave Aspies for Freedom and Autism Awareness a very bad taste in their mouth, www.carolinalive.com/news/story.aspx?id=364414Apparently this is why my disorder would Discriminated in the highest degree and want Autism cured badily, because in the end people may just have to use deadly force to get rid of people like me, and sorry if that was offensive in any matter of terms, since I figure no one would care if people killed those who were autistic. BTW, you might want to read the comments on that article, because quite a few were in a battle with those who support Autism and those against it looking for a cure.

Without the back story there is not much to conclude from this article, to be honest. Kid stabs police officer, Officer shoots....replace autism with drug addiction, it's the same thing.
There are too many assumptions, like all Asperger kids are on the shy side and only aggressive when provoced. I am still remembering the forum's own self admitted Aspi, Bard Child, this girl would fly off the handle at the flick of switch.
I think you read too much into the comments, a bunch of armchair quaterbacks who never had a serious problem in their lives. And I honestly fail to see the thread you referred to for autistic people.
Without knowing exactly what went on, it looks like in this case the kid was clearly the attacker. what set him off - if it is ever found out it won't be published I am sure.
