Just saw the movie, its three thirty am here so please forgive any typos I make.
Liked the beginning, flashback to 17,000 BC was kinda cool, kinda cheesy. The first fight scene in Shanghai with Lennex and the Autobots was pretty awesome, I wish there'd been more of Arcee though. (That's the chick Autobot!)
A lot of the exposition after the college scenes and the race across Egypt were too drawn out, scenes could have been cut or shortened. The "I love you." and its "your destiny" were way too cliched and just cheesy. The very ended was cut short and felt rushed. Bang we won! Now one sentimental message and no after footage, oh movie's over. Sequel coming, you can tell.
The best moment in the whole movie was the way they worked Simons back in. That was brilliant. Jetfire was also incredible. At last a "I'm too old for this." from a guy who was still easily winning the fight. Mikaela' pet Decepticon was also cool, and hilarious, but he vanished in Egypt. I missed him after that.
Overall: Too much exposition, too many random robots with no explanation, too many Decepticons, too much Mikaela, too much room mate, too long of a fight across the desert. Not enough backstory on characters, not enough Bumblebee, not enough Arcee, not enough of a final fight at the pyramids.
Just the opinions of a film student.

I totally agree with you on the editing part. The first hour and a half was good but the rest seemed rushed and incoherent. Also, was is it just me but I couldn't understand what they were saying half the time, now I know how people feel when they tell me I often speak too fast. (UGHHH!!) Then I eneded up with a headache a real one, and I just couldn't concentrate and the babies in the theatre were making too much noise...lol and I'm tired of Megan Fox, like seriously we could of had a whole movie without her and I wouldn't even have noticed. As far as the ending, in times like these I think thats what people want, you should have heard the audience at the end they were clapping and like "yah we won"! I realize people have too much stress and crap in their lives to really want to figure out shizz and in the end they like the happy ending stuff...people need closure. lol There were too many robots too keep track of I lost track...in the end I just wanted to see bubblebee and maybe ironhide(sp?) and the chick motorcyles were cool and the evil Decepticons, beyond that my mind went numb and cold. overall 2 stars out 4 I guess...I mean it satisfied me, it served its purpose. bUT TO HECK WITH THIS WHAT ABOUT THE AVATAR TRAILER!!! WHOOHOOO!!! ok so I'm going to go OT b/c I can't find the thread and this site is bugging and going kind of slow...the trailer was so cool....only I knew about it in the whole theatre! cries!! And I'm tired of people saying dragon ball Z.....dang we're screwed lol ALSO on a side note if anyone cares...the actress playing Yue has my same name!!!! Finally people will know it and hopefully pronounce it right!!!! ok I'm done....

Anyone who comments on this as an actual movie, dealing with things such as writing quality or comprehensibility are missing the point entirely. This is not a good movie, it is an intense experience and an assault on one's sanity, and in that it is successful.
