I did a search and nothing came up, maybe this is the wrong place but.. I'm pretty sure it's right, haha. Anyway, I'm also pretty sure that this topic might have come up in an Azula thread, but I'd really like to discuss Azula and Ursa XD Alright, cue the cello music~!
Well, ever since Ursa was practically confirmed to still be alive, since DoBS to be more specific, I've been wondering what might happen if Azula and mother met again. Would Azula stare blankly at the maternal figure whom isn't quite sure the little deviant is of her own flesh and blood? Would Azula stand unwavering, both mind and body unstill as she contemplates her next move, only to end up crying her heart out? Would Azula sincerely smile beneath a veil of tears as she runs into her mothers radiant arms? Or would she flat out kill the (whoa whoa! XD) Okay sorry >_> *Ahem* (resumes cello music) Or would both females anger and distress from all those years ago finally come boiling to the surface, as they battle one last time; only for the victor to have on their chests a still unresolved past marbled with blood and tears...
What are your thoughts? I personally wish for them to work things out, but I'm thinking someone will get hurt (not die, NOOOO!) first. Sorry I don't have "facts". Facts are far and few between, but for anyone who doesn't understand Azula's relationship with mommy, I'll try to explain.

When Azula was like, ten, she didn't care at ALL that her mom was gone. So I can't imagine she'd care at all if Ursa returned.
The only thought that would cross her mind is how to use this turn of events to her personal advantage.

^^Seriously. Azula would probably think of some way to use Ursa to lead Zuko into a trap and hand him on a platter back to Daddy...

Iunno, of all the things that could get to Azula, her own mother thinking of her as a monster seemed to bother her the most. Who knows? Ursa might have the best chance of getting through to Azula emotionally. I could just imagine a scene where Ursa tells Azula that she doesn't think of her as a monster and Azula breaks down crying (well, she still a evil biznatch monster, but that's besides the point).

Azula crying is one of the signs of the apocalypse.
Really though, in The Beach, it seemed to me like the entire purpose of what Azula said about her mom is to make us think she'll have a sob story...only to go "Whoop, no, she's still evil."
I can't imagine that kind of scene happening without being such a jarring and sudden contrast to the way her character has thus far been portrayed.

^Agreed. Azula is just crazy and doesn't care much for affection. She likes power and all that. If anything, she would just be angry at her mom for not appreciating her/worshipping her. Because we all know the world revolves around Azula

I must agree with the two posts above. Azula never seemed to care about her mother, I just can't see that changing. That scene in the Beach just didn't sit right with me, it was very out of character for Azula. As yice said, it was there to make us think that she'll have a sob story, I just don't think she's gonna. She's evil, plain and simple.

Once a sociopath, always a sociopath.
Azula won't change.

^Agreed. Azula is just crazy and doesn't care much for affection. Actually, I'll have to disagree with that. She seems quite jealous of Mai and Zuko's relationship, considering she interrupted them twice while they were making out. Also when Ty Lee was getting all the attention from those boys at the beach and later on at the party, and when she was trying to impress Chan. Even villians have hearts As for the mother-daughter reunion thing. I see it being very...tense. If at ten years old Azula didn't care that her mother disappeared (though that might be because she knew what she did and that she was still alive, unlike Zuko) then it makes you wonder what exactly happened between them. All things considered, Ursa does seem to have had the deepest effect on her daughter, if so many years later she's still hurt by her. I don't see Azula breaking down and crying though. I'm going to agree with yiceman here that if that happens, the apocolypse is coming; XD she's too proud for tears. I don't think she'd let anyone see her cry, especially her mother. Oh, and also, what she'll do I think is dependent on under which circumstances they'll meet. After the war is over, before the war is over, in middle of battle, etc. has a lot to say on the matter.

I think if Ursa and Azula met again. Ursa may want to make up with daughter. But Azula probably won't care and might even try killing her for loving Zuko more.

Jealousy and envy =/= understanding the concept of affection. I didn't notice Azula's reaction to Mai and Zuko at all, if she even had one, but in The Beach she hardly seemed to be after romance. Soon as she had that one guy cornered, she started talking about power and ruling the world with an iron fist.
So no, I would say that Azula does not practice in affection. I won't say she doesn't understand it, because that makes her sound like one of those troubled, emotionally crippled girls. And she's not. She has plenty of emotion. It's just all negative. She might understand love and affection, but apparently chooses to avoid it. She holds no affection for anyone in her family that we have seen.

In "The Headband" she definitely had a reaction.
Eh, I'm not going to argue "The Beach" part, but I'll say this: She wasn't genuinely interested in him. There was no...'chemisty'. For which I am very happy
hm...no, I think you're right, I don't think she fully understands affection, but I don't see why that makes her sound like an emotionally crippled girl. There are plenty people who go through life without understanding what love is, but she does hold platonic affection towards Mai and Ty Lee. That much is obvious.

What'd she do in the headband that hinted at jealousy?

Her expression when they were making out. Lemme see if I can find a screencap of it for you.

That struck you as jealousy? If I recall, it seemed more like she was grossed out.
