A 10 year old Korean-American actor named Isaac Jin Solstein is apparently going to play the "Earthbending boy". I assume they're talking about Haru. He's a black belt in Tang Soo Do and Soo Bahk Do, and was a National Champion last year. Source: lastairbenderfilm.com/2009/06/09/exclusive-haru-is-that-you/

At first glance, he looks too young to play Haru... but he probably will be. Why didn't they give him a name, though? Exactly how important will he be in the movie if he's just "Earthbending boy?" Not that Haru's role in season one was that vital, but... a name would have been nice... or, at least, less vague.

Although he does look too young for Haru, they may be able to pull it off. Honestly, start with a young cast is better than everyone ending up being way too old for the parts by the final film. Take Harry Potter for example... blah. I think he can do it.

Take Harry Potter for example... blah. I think he can do it. But Haru doesn't have to grow with the films. Even at the end of the series, when we see him again, he does look considerably older thanks to his facial hair. Ten years old is too young, especially since I always saw Haru as being on the brink of coming-of-age in season one. But on another note, is anyone else excited that they actually cast an Asian who looks like he's from the Far East? This is how I imaged the Avatar characters to look, with the exception of Aang (those monks don't look like that) and the Water Tribe characters. Everyone else should look like this.

I agree that he's really too young, honestly I'm just trying to stay as optimistic as possible. I also agree that he seemed to be "coming of age" when he first appeared. Maybe they plan on getting an older actor for his later appearances? I'm not sure what they're thinking here. As for the casting of someone who actually looks east-asian... seriously, thank you! I'm glad we've got someone who looks the part here.

Dude, maybe that's Suki. eh, 10 is a bit young for Haru. Perhaps it's a new character. You never know. I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, some have to be taken out, some characters are bound to be created even for the soul purpose of providing background information and more depth without having to re-create the entire series word for word.

since he's unnamed he might just be a background character but i guess a teeny tiny haru wouldn't be too bad compared nameless earthbending boy

Well, I never said he had to be nameless. But maybe an OC.

I knew it was going to be Tyro and Haru from the very moment they said "Earthbending Father".
At least he looks right for the part. I just watched this episode with Avatar Extras.

I think they would proably say it was going to be Haru. When I first read "Earthbending Boy" I thought of the twins in The Fortuneteller, the one that could earthbend and the one that couldn't, maybe he is playing the earthbending one.

Yeah. Way to young for Haru's Sexy Fine Hair Products.

I've heard terrible rumors about Toph becoming a boy in the movies. . . .so this makes me uncomfortable. T_T

If they looked for someone with martial arts training then he must have somewhat of an important role, I sure hope he isn't suppose to play Toph.

He could be tall in person, and it's easy for them to age anyone with makeup. Age doesn't matter when casting for a film. They just have to look the part.

Id sooner tolerate a Brangelina adopted Haru than a male Toph.
