Not a bad job. Like I've said when I first heard he was cast as Zuko, he's gonna work.

Photoshopped pictures always give me hope for this movie. ^_^
He looks much lighter without the dark head of hair, which is good for me. And I agree about the eyebrows, though I doubt they're gonna do anything there.
It's definitely awesome that Zuko has abs like that. ;D

So this is the guy who's playing Zuko? Not bad, not bad at all. Although I agree with nandi, they have to do smething with the ears. And the eyebrows, need to be thinner.
But will he have Zuko's awesome voice? Zuko's a package, the voice is always the key for me. I also hope he can get that nasty, yet sexy, look that Zuko's eyes get when he's mad. This is Zuko's angry season, so that's gonna be a must, those intense Zuko eyes.

I have mixed feelings about this one. He looks more Zuko-esque in the photoshopped pictures than he does in the pictures from the film itself. I wasn't fond of Zuko's season 1 hairstyle, but it has an important symbolic role (i.e., it represents his ties to his family, his banishment, etc).
Hopefully his performance will allow me to get over the hair issue. xP Overall, I'm pleased though. Hair isn't that big of an issue.

Dev fails to be Zuko and I am shocked that people are deluding themselves into thinking he looks anything like Zuko. An East Asian actor would of been nice, but no, M Night has to screw up the main cast because he's afraid that nobody will see the movie if it features minorities.

The film is an adaptation of the show. The actors don't have to look exactly like (or even that close to) the cartoon characters. I'll be happy if the essence of the show is preserved ie the basic plot, who the characters are, their arcs, and the important relationships(like Irko). There are going to be lots of small differences.

There are going to be lots of small differences. While it may be an adaption, there is no way to ignore the discrimination that is present in the main cast. Yes, M Night has to right to cast the movie however he wants, but I also have the right to be angry about it. First off, the original cast contained all white actors and the casting calls asked "For Caucasian or any other ethnicity" for ALL four main leads (really, how does that make sense when Katara, Sokka, and Zuko all clearly do NOT look white). I am sorry, but I would like an Avatar adaption that I can relate too. I was able to relate to the Harry Potter movies since they had a British white kid with glasses portraying Harry, I want to be able to relate to this movie by having two East Asian actors portraying Aang and Zuko and two Native American actors portraying Katara and Sokka. If M Night tried, he could of found those actors, but he didn't. He just wanted whites for the main leads (remember Zuko was once Jesse).

Hurrrr racism. Eh, the cast was a bit of a shock at first but then I found some HUGE spoilers. Read at your own risk: LOL WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET. Who cares if they're not the "correct" race? Honestly. Let's try not to obsess, loves. We need to wait to see if the acting is plausible. In the mean time, you're all annoying me. Stoppit.

I recently had an interesting/disturbing thought: Shyamalan cast Dev Patel as Zuko so he could cast himself as Lord Ozai later on. Just a crazy theory but...well actually it's one of the only explanations I can come up with for this bizarre casting choice.

Except that Ozai's already been cast...and he's a Maori. I guess that's the closest to a fellow countryman being in the movie...

Not sold on him by a very long shot, seen the promo pics and I was hugely disappointed, he in no way what so ever looks a bit like Zuko, plus as it’s been pointed out Cliff Curtis has been cast as Ozai, no way they are gonna make them look anything like each other, they could of very easily come over here to NZ and got a kid that looked more the part, seen many a Maori guy look more like Zuko. Oh well lets just see if his acting saves him in this part because I really think it may be the only thing that could.
