Producer Frank Marshall has been dishing out a lot of goodies via Twitter lately, and responding to our questions. Specter, contributor here at LAF and founder of our sister-site MNightFans.com, recently sent Marshall a question regarding how the filmmakers will make Appa come to life on the big-screen. Marshall responded saying: "Appa will be a combination of mechanical and visual effects..." This sounds like the right approach. My guess is, mechanical for certain close-ups and GCI for flying shots and what-not. Regarding the teaser trailer, there has been speculation on which movie it will be attached to in June. Frank Marshall sent out a tweet this morning letting it be known that the teaser for The Last Airbender will be attached to Bayformers: Revenge of the Fallen. This will be great exposure for the film, but it left me wondering something. Bayformers 2 will also be playing in IMAX theaters, and IMAX theaters typically only show trailers for other IMAX movies. Wondering if there was a chance we would see the Airbender trailer in IMAX, more specifically whether or not Airbender will be shown in IMAX upon it's release, I sent Marshall a tweet. Frank responded this morning with the following statement: "I'm not a big fan of blowing up 35mm for IMAX screens. An IMAX movie should be shot and composed in 70mm..." Though that wasn't a clear NO, I have a gut feeling this opinion is probably very similar to that of M. Night Shyamalan's and that makes me think it ain't happenin'... at least not on the first movie. Stick tuned for more juicy updates, and mark you calanders for June 24th! That's when we will get out first look at The Last Airbender! |
