Thought it was about time to get another contest started again, so I thought I'd bring forth a drabble challenge (rather than a fanfiction one). I imagine this is a bit simpler, so I hope I get some participants!!!
Here's the FAQ:
Okay, so what the heck is a drabble?
A drabble is an extremely short work of fiction exactly one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity and to test the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space.
Right then, so how does this Drabble Contest thingie work?
A new drabble prompt will be posted every other Sunday, and participants will have two weeks in which to come up with the best drabble they can write. At the end of the two weeks, a winner will be declared and a new contest will begin.
Well, okay, but why should I participate?
Winner gets a graphic from Kohana, and a sticky for two weeks in the Fanfiction Board. I'll also throw in a free lineart if you guys want.
Now, the Rules!
1) Your drabble must be 100 words or less, no exceptions
2) You must have your entry posted by midnight the NIGHT BEFORE the deadline.
3) Your drabble must be spell-checked and with proper grammar.
4) Have Fun!
And the Point System this is based on:
Grammar: 5 points (one point subtracted for each error)
Theme: 10 points (does the drabble grasp the general feeling of the prompt?)
Creativity: 10 points (Is the idea fresh and new or has it been done a million times already?)
Words: one point subtracted for every word over 100
The total number of points is then added together to determine the winning drabble.
So if your grammar is horrible and you end up with 0/5 but your theme is dead on and you've written the most creative thing ever, you'll end up with a score of 20.
Likewise, if your grammar is perfect and your drabble is themed well, but it's not very creative, you'll end up with a score of 20.
And suggestions to this judging system will be appreciated.
So, the first challenge is here. Go check it out!
