OOC- I apologize for my abscence, my internet at home isn't working. Right now I'm posting at work. I'll try to post more regularly at school.
Hati flapped her hand at the woman who was speaking. What sort of cloth was she looking for? That was at least a valuable question. She noticed Noa's excitement and finally started to pay attention. A festival? That'd be a wonderful place to showcase her talent! She grinned and clapped her hands together. "Yes- do you have anything in...bright colors- silks and the what not? You called this a star festival- do you have anything that could resemble stars?"
Abeni whimpered as Saiki suddenly grabbed her face to make sure she wasn't bleeding. But then she smiled because Ikram was back. He seemed nice enough. Still holding onto Saiki tightly she looked up at him, wondering what he was going to do. He seemed nice- maybe to nice. "Is he going to court you?" She asked loudly. "Sometimes the boys pretend to do that but then they just push the girls on the dirt and take our toys."
Matsu paused at Fenny's attention and he tilted his head to the side- as if it would help him hear better. "I think so."

She turned, allowing Pao to catch a glimpse of her face. It was her! Pao wasted no more time breaking through the wash of people: with his speed and long stride he appeared next to her quite suddenly and without further explanation lifted the small woman and twirled her around. "It's you!"
"..Ah?" was all Fenny could manage before she was lifted and spun, too discombobulated to make sense of her attacker.

Ikram laughed nervously; his eyes shot to Saiki. "Don't worry," he said, "I don't plan on pushing anyone into the dirt." He coughed to cover a small chuckle. "And I would never -" he knelt down and nodded at Abeni seriously "- steal anyone's toys."
Saiki seemed like an interesting girl, yes; but she also seemed to be tolerating him only just barely, and though he liked a challenge, he did not like getting slapped or getting things thrown at his head. He stood up again and dusted off his knees. "I don't think we're going to court," he said. "Really, I'm just trying to help out a few newcomers."
He smiled. Sure he wouldn't pursue her; but if she initiated something... "Hey," he thought with a mental shrug, "who knows?"

((OOC - I'm really sorry about not posting, but my internet was down all week and it was just fixed))
Saiki felt a faint blush spread across her cheeks when she heard Abeni's question. She looked down at Abeni in an effort to hide her face. "Nothing like that. He's just helping us out a bit since we're new here," she told Abeni. Steal people's toys? Honestly, children can be so rediculous, Saiki thought with a mental shrug. Turning back to Ikram now that her face was no longer red, she said, "By the way, do you know where we could find a room for the night?" Who knows if I'd be able to find a place on my own. Might as well ask since he's here.

"Silks?" Hau repeated. "I have a few." She disappeared under the counter for a moment, and reemerged with several colorful bolts of silk. She placed them down on the counter so her customers could see.
"I have golds, blues, silvers, greens, bronzes, reds, and yellows," Hau said, showing silk that was all shades of the colors she had mentioned. "What are you planning to do at the festival? I could help you choose the right colors and styles to wear," she continued, feeling that a sale was near.

OOC: WOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Momma used to say thats how it always starts." Abeni whispered to Saiki. Actually, thats how most of the arguements would happen with her step father. How he usde to be so kind to her, and then later their marrige had dissolved. Still, she watched Ikram with a new found interest.
Hati gave her a look that blantly said 'I don't need your help.' She paused and gathered up the red and gold silks. True, this would be fire nation colors, but with the right embroidery it would look absoluetly dashing. "I need about..four yards in both." She thought carefully. "Yes- thats good."
OOC- Uh- I've never made me own clothes, and I had no idea what measurement system they use >>
Matsu staggered back as the man was suddenly spinning Fenny. Without a moments thought his hand had lit up and he was standing, ready to attack as soon as he got in a shot. "Put her down!"

It did not escape Hau's notice that the colors of the silk were reds and golds. Her mouth tightened. The girl was probably Fire Nation, part of the barbaric savage race that had completely ruined the world. Worthless scum.
"Will that be all?" she asked, trying to contain her disdain as she measured out four yards of the red silk and the gold silk. "Anything for your friend here?" she continued, peering at the other person who had entered her shop.

"Put her down!" "Matsu! Don't..." Fenny tried, catching a glimpse of firelight. She didn't want him to hurt a total stranger and get dragged off to jail himself. As she stopped spinning and was set down again, she tried to focus on her attacker's face: a young man with a long face, tan skin... what might have been a leaf in his hair... "Waitaminute, Pao? PAO!" she hugged the man viciously. "You're much taller than I remember, you goose!" she wanted to talk to him, ask him a million things, but she could see his gaze fell beyond her to Matsu. He probably still had his hand lit, ready to attack. Fenny turned around, ready to explain Pao to Matsu.

Ikram held back a chuckle at Abeni. Whether she wanted another companion for Saiki or she just thought that people were happier in couples or family-units, he didn't know - but he couldn't help but put aside his usual indifference towards children; the kid was pretty adorable. He decided not to say anything else about it, or mention that half-a-moment of red he saw on Saiki.
"By the way, do you know where we could find a room for the night?"
"Oh yeah, no problem." He grinned charmingly, adding an extra ounce of sparkle into his eyes. "Just for a night or... are you planning to stay here in the city for good? I know my way around pretty well, so I'm sure I can take you to whatever sort of housing you'd like."
He was half-inclined to wink or give her a telling smile, but instincts told him it was a bad idea. It wasn't the first time (and wouldn't be the last) he'd cursed his natural tendency to flirt with anything that moved.

((OOC -- I'm going away for spring break next week, so no posting. I'll be back next Friday)) ((EDIT OOC-- sorry for posting it in two parts ^^; ))
Saiki resisted rolling her eyes at Abeni's little comment, and tried to ignore the way Abeni was now looking at Ikram in case she blushed again. "Something temporary is fine. Just not too expensive," she said to Ikram. Saiki was an untrusting person and she didn't want to reveal anything that could turn out to be important to a complete stranger, especially in a strange place. She figured that she could find more permanent lodging when she got to know the city better.

"Not too expensive..." He tapped a finger against his chin thoughtfully. She'd want somewhere respectable, he imagined - which ruled out a good fourth of places he could think of. He had no idea what her interests and plans were, so he couldn't really direct her to the most appropriate area of the city; she could probably find all that out for herself, though.
However, there was a sort of hotel near his place of what could be termed "employment" - run by an old woman of good character. Though speaking of employment, he probably needed to find out if he was expected that day...
Ikram gave Saiki one of his most charming grins. "I know a place I think you'd be happy with. Follow me." He was almost a bit sad they were parting; she'd barely given him a chance, and he might even have enjoyed spending a little more time with Abeni.
But Lotus City was a place for new beginnings - and she would probably want time to settle before she went out making friends. Assuming, of course, that she even wanted any.
So he began to walk, leading them towards it. "It's a bit small," he told Saiki, "but neatly kept, and usually the people there are decent folk."

OOC: Legendary! That's awesome! Noa turned around when he heard the attention shifted to him. He was looking at a board with paintings of various figures and models wearing different styles for the star festival. He pointed at a picture. "Hati, could you make me something like this?" It was a picture of a man wearing a rather extravagant festive outfit, very extravagant in Noa's case, but the picture of the guy wearing seemed to having the time of his life which is what really attracted Noa. "Even that upside-down pentapus on his head," Noa referred to the jester hat. "Isn't that a neat get up?"

Saiki nodded and followed Ikram, guiding Abeni with her so she wouldn't get left behind. Her other hand slipped into her bag to surreptitiously check her purse. She could feel a decent number of coins, but it wouldn't hold out for long. Plus, she wasn't used to having two people to feed and knew it would make her purse empty even faster. I'll have to get a job as soon as possible. She glanced at Ikram, wondering what work he did. He has to do something, and there's a chance that he knows someone who's hiring. Then again, she thought back to the way his hand was behind his back when she first met him, his line of work may be something I'd rather not get involved in. I can always ask around; in a city this size there's sure to be someone looking for workers.
