Matsu let out a soft moan, he didn't want to walk anywhere else! He was so tired and the look on his face told as such. His eyelids drooped and he looked at the ground, he was turning an ashen sort of color again. "Okay.." He finally told her.
Abeni felt herself being turned and she twisted, watching Ikram. Wasn't he going to stay? He helped them after all.
Hati looked up at Noa, and finally she caved. He was so good abotu going along with everything she did, she supposed she could tolerate this. "All right." She sighed. Hati leaned stood on her tip toes and look forward. Was that...was that a shop? With FABRIC? "COME ON!" Hati said urgently as she dragged Noa forward, heading straight for Hua.

Matsu obviously had very little energy left, so the idea of walking further must have been unappetizing. Fenny bent her head to catch Matsu's eyes, looking sad but serious. "It's a little ways farther, I know, but it's worth it. I grew up with waterbending healers, and they're amazing. Your wound's gone in a minute, not even a scar!" She put her hand in his, "It's the best thing for you, really, I promise."

The sun has been getting ruthless with it's rays as a slow moving figure struggled to make his was through the sand dunes. The city walls were like blinding mirrors reflecting the sunlight that hurt his eyes more than ever.
"Only a little more... Just a little more..." Atka whispered, mostly to himself, in a desperate try of reassurance. His body was getting weaker, he could feel his limbs become more and more numb by every passing second. He didn't remember anything, but his will to survive surpassed every level of despair he should feel. ...Nothing... He felt as an empty shell drifting through the desert. Yet his determination kept him alive. With the last ounce of his remaining strength he managed to get to the great walls of Lotus city before collapsing in front of the guards. His strength finally abandoned him.
He barely managed to whisper. His mouth was dry and his voice rough. "Help me... Please..." His own last words still echoed in his ears.
He could hear the guard's voice as well. "This man needs help. We need to get him to a healer as soon as possible." Another strange voice echoed. "Take him to Huojin, she will know what to do."
Atka's vision then blurred completely before he finally lost conscience and everything went black.

Hau looked up with interest as two people approached her shop. She straightened up and smoothed her hair back then put on her best "friendly shop keeper" smile.
As the duo entered, Hau said "Welcome, both of you!" She gave a short polite bow as a greeting. "May I interest you in my hand-dyed cloth? Or perhaps you need some cloth of your own dyed? The Star Festival is coming up you know."

Saiki pretended not to notice that Abeni had turned to watch Ikram walk away. Why does this child have to get so easily attached to people? It's just going to cause problems. The two of them reached the fruit stand and Saiki examined the produce carefully, unhappy with the prices. She rummaged through her bag; she had enough money to last until she could find a job, but she'd still have to budget her money carefully. Guess I'm not getting a new shirt, she thought, remembering the one she had given to Matsu to use as bandages. Saiki exchanged four copper pieces with the shopkeeper for two pieces of fruit and handed one down to Abeni.
((OOC -- are we going to name the currency, or should I continue to refer to it as copper, bronze, silver, and gold pieces? (copper being the lowest, gold the highest) ))

Nothing in the market really caught Ikram's eye. He certainly didn't need anything, and thought he had - albeit illegally - just come into a bit more money, there wasn't anything there he felt particularly inclined to spend it on.
He scanned the crowd and quickly found Saiki and the little girl handing over money for some fruit. He walked over. "All right," he said to them. "You guys almost done? Nothing here I really wanted."

Lei-Xia's hand trembled as she walked towards the cell. Her fingers tightened around the scroll, and she drew a breath.
He would be so proud, so very, very proud...
She walked briskly, efficient as ever and eager to get to her destination. A sentinel stood, back against the wall, looking bored. "You!" she said sharply. "I am Lei-Xia, official secretary to the senate. I have a message to deliver to this prisoner regarding his trial." She raised a thin eyebrow at the man and held out the scroll. "Well?"
He grunted and took it.
She watched as he slid open a slot in the door and shoved the scroll inside. With a carefully schooled expression, she gave a short bow and briskly turned to leave.
The thrill of a job well done threatened to burst out of her - her lips twitched up in a momentary smile.
She couldn't wait to tell the senator.

Huojin was carefully pouring the cooled infusion into a small clay pot when she heard a brisk knocking at her door. What good timing that women has. She got up from her workspace and quickly used her bending to melt a stick of red wax to seal the pot. "Miss Huojin? Miss Huojin?" a voice called urgently from outside, over the continued knocking. So it isn't her. She'd better hurry up if she doesn't want her husband to get even worse.
Huojin swiftly crossed to the doorway and looked calmly at the two soldiers who stood in the street, an unconscious youth being carried between them. She sighed. "Another wanderer, huh?" About once a month or so the guard shows up with a malnourished fool who somehow managed to cross the desert on his/her own, so the sight of yet another foolish youth was no surprise to Huojin.
"This way," she said, leading the soldiers into her shop. She gestured at a small cot in the corner of the room. "Lay him gently over there." Huojin went to her shelves and pulled out the small bottle of tonic that she always kept on hand for occasions such as this. Using a small dropper, she forced a bit of the nutrient rich tonic into the youth's mouth. Just enough to get him stable. Her eyes glanced over his body. Looks like he'll need more than just the basic "wake up" call. She replaced the bottle on the shelf and started ripping up bandages for the rest of his wounds.
((OOC-- I'll post as Saiki after pirateliz posts; this was so Master Pakku wasn't stuck waiting. ))

OOCI'm so bad about posting. HOWEVER! This OOC is borught to you by the letter O- Erm, rather. I'm announcing that the role play is going to take a rather unoffical break. I say unoffical because TGM hasn't agreed with me I know myself and a few other role players are extremley busy becuase this is the week leading up to spring break. I am not saying that we are going to halt the role play- But just be warned that posting may end up (especially on my end) rather sparotic with posts far and few between. I do not know how long this will effect the other players but I do know the last week of March I will be busy because I have several friends from out of state coming to visit me. (Two of which I am going to try and convince to join.) If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Now that the little announcement is over- I have another! Have you ever wanted to see your character in a story? But you really don't want to write about it yourself? Well- I'm taking commissions on written work. If you like to see further information please go here- pirate-liz.deviantart.com/journal/17258909/I would be glad to discuss the matters with you. To Darkblood- I have no idea if we're going to name the currency- so that works. -End- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Matsu forced a tired smile across his face as he looked at Fenny. "M'lady Fenny....I don't think worrying about scars is..really..important at this point." He looked down. Somehow worrying about a scar seemed to pale in comparison to the fact that his arm was no longer there- probably some wild lion armadillo was gnawing on the bones of it right now. "Thank you." Abeni told Saiki timidly. She was about to pull her mask down to eat when Ikram was suddenly back around. Startled she quickly yanked her mask back up. A small yelp emerged as the heel of her hand slammed against her nose. Tears swelled up automatically and she held her hand over her nose with a whimper. "I really don't need anything dyed- thank you." Hati let go of Noa's hand and she found herself quickly plunging into the wares of cloth. "Such a pretty color...what's the Star Festival?" She stopped and peered at Hua curiously. Surely such a festival would be a great place to show off some of her work.

Yasu was absolutely ecstatic and amazed at the new city. Ba Sing Se was a big place, certainly, but Yasu had never left there until his journey on the sandsailor. Everything seemed so different. There was so much to look at. His eyes widened, and he shot hopeful glances at his brother as they passed many tempting items. Ryu however, was rather unfazed by the place, his typical one-track mind was focused so exclusively on his current priorities he could not appreciate the beauty of the city and he was thus totally blind to it.
Out of the corner of his eye, Yasu spotted a musical instrument. It was a simple item, small and somewhat round with a mouthpeice and a few holes. It shone bright blue in the sun, hanging on a hook by a loop of string. Yasu tugged on his brother's sleeve and looked at him pleadingly, indicating the item he wanted by ponting. He didn't know what it was called, but he recognized the instrument as one similar to the one his mother had sometimes played for him. It instilled a feeling of familiarity that he missed, having his life change so rapidly. It was an item that would bring a small sense of comfort to a child that had lost much. All the other things they could buy fled from his mind.
"We don't have the money to spend on trinkets..." Ryu began, but his scentence stopped as the young boy's face fell. Ryu was not a very empathetic man to be sure, but his brother was his world. He was the only human being left that could move Ryu. He sighed, and looked at Yasu apologetically.
Now he dearly wanted to get that instrument for him, but he just didn't know if they could spare the money. They had just arrived, Ryu had no job, his opportunity here had been thrown out the window when Geming went crazy. And, lest he forget, he owed a few people from the sandsailor for saving Yasu and himself. He didn't know how he was going to repay them.

((OOC -- a short hiatus sounds like a good idea to me. I've got a lot going on at school right now, so I won't be able to get on DH as much. I'll still post whenever I can though))
Saiki heard Abeni's yelp and quickly grabbed Abeni's chin before the small girl could protest, and inspected her face to make sure that there was no blood. "You guys almost done? Nothing here I really wanted." Saiki straighted up and let go of Abeni's chin, although she kept a hand on her shoulder. "Hm? Yeah, I suppose." Why's he back? I thought he was just going to guide us to the market. What's he doing now?

((OOC: A sort f semi-hiatus is fine by me. I've got hell week coming up because my school play opens in about three weeks....and we still have a lot left to do. D: ))
Inwardly Hau cringed slightly as the girl unfolded her meticulously stacked bolts of dyed cloth. However, she really needed a sale today so she hid the feeling as best she could.
"The Star Festival is probably the biggest celebration Lotus City has each year. It's to give thanks to the guiding stars and constellations that lead us over the desert to the safety of the city. There's feasting and dancing and of course lots of entertainment," she said, forcing a smile. Without fail, each year the entertainment always included acrobats and dancers who used their Firebending as part of their act. It made her absolutely sick. Firebenders were such savages and didn't deserve to live among the Waterbenders or the Earthbenders.
They should've been left to the mercy of the gods, Hau thought in disgust, not pardoned. They're such a barbaric race and deserve to be treated like dirt. It befits their status.
Hau managed to pull herself out of her thoughts and turn her attention to her customers. "So, what sort of cloth are you looking for in particular?"

(OOC: Hiatus? Sure! I'm on spring break now, but I'll be back at school next week. So time to do school work=good.)
Ikram blanched when he saw Abeni start tearing up; he had no idea how to help. Luckily, Saiki immediately took care of it. It didn't look like there was any real damage... He offered her a smile, feeling slightly awkward. It wasn't like he could help, anyway. Not unless the girl liked watching mediocre sandbending.
Hm? Yeah, I suppose. He realized Saiki had answered his question. He nodded. "Ahh. Great. Do you... need anything else? I don't mean to be intrusive or anything, but I know you're new. You might need a tour guide for just a little longer." Ikram shrugged. "And to be honest, I'm pretty bored."
---
Lei-Xia was appalled, but did her best to hide it.
The guard had easily accepted the excuse she gave him; Marus was a senator, he knew, so surely someone from the senate would have semi-private business to discuss with him. With a quick nod and a tight smile, he walked off, leaving them with just enough privacy to converse.
She couldn't stand the sight of him imprisoned. "I've done what you asked," she told him. "It was quite easy, actually, and the message has been delivered."
Marus looked up at her, his expression thoughtful. "Good. An overture has been extended. We'll see what happens from here." She wondered what he was up to, but knew better than to ask. He worked slowly, and she knew that when he was ready everything would fall into place. What a brilliant, beautiful man...
His cell was much more open, and her hands closed around the bars separating them. He was being released the next day; she only had to wait (but why, why, why did she have to wait?) until then. "Of course, sir. Is there anything else you need me to do while you're... inconvenienced?"
He smiled at her tact. "No. That's all I needed."

Noa smiled with a chuckle when Hati agreed to his suggestion. But he didn't even have time turn his gaze to his immediate surroundings when he was grabbed by Hati. "COME ON! She pulled him through the street until they came across a shop. They entered and were quickly welcomed by a nice middle-aged shop keeper.
"Welcome, both of you!" She said kindly, "May I interest you in my hand-dyed cloth? Or perhaps you need some cloth of your own dyed? The Star Festival is coming up you know."
"Star Festival?" Noa said in the background as Hati spoke with woman who explained the event. A festival was always something to look forward to for Noa, and to have a festival come up just shortly after their arrival at the city was just great luck.
---
Geming slowly shifted his gaze from the barred window when he heard a short screech of metal at the cell door and something fall to the floor. Through the dim light we barely made out the shape of the scroll at the bottom of the door.
At last He thought to himself.
He knew it was only a matter of time before they'd contact him.
Taking off his hat and worn cloak he ambled slowly to the door and knelt down to pick up the scroll. He walked back as he unravelled the parchment and angled it at the seeping light from the window. His slowly read the print being sure to absorb every detail.
He raised a brow. This message was interesing. It was not was he expected. It wasn't from the any of his old brethen. It was someone else...a potentially new member.
Senator Marus
One of the few political figures of the city that the Brotherhood didn't avoid. Geming felt Marus had the credentials. One of the more enlightened authorities in the city. Geming signed with ease had he easily found comfort sitting against the hard metal wall.

Pao walked amongst the crowd in the cool shade of the wall's shadow. A good deal taller than most of the people in the market, he looked more like he was wading in a sea of people rather than going shopping. But he had indeed come out today because he needed more bean sprouts. And perhaps somewhat because he had heard a new caravan had arrived, and it had peaked his interest. They were mostly earth kingdom stock; Pao smiled when he saw two brothers stop to admire a whistle at a booth on the packed street. There was also a young woman with a child, and what might have been a watertribe couple. He nodded kindly to the stout woman selling maps, and was about to go on to the little garden booth further down, when he caught a metallic twinkle on brown out of the corner of his eye. He frowned: nobody wore metal wire in their hair anymore, only gypsy children ever... Pao hesitated for a second, almost uncertain. The wild brown hair was certainly the right color. He took a few tentative steps forward through the crowd. He vaguely caught a few words, not enough to make sense of in the buzz of the street, but he recognized that tone. He moved more quickly through the crowd, trying to avoid knocking anyone down but not wanting to lose the visual. It wasn't everyday you saw someone back from the dead. "Fenny!"
"You're missing the point." said Fenny, exasperated. "Doctors take weeks, months to heal you. Healers-" Fenny turned abruptly, confusion crossing her features. "...Did someone just call me?"
