That certain thing is the option to delete your account to the right of your profile modifications page, which could be easily mistaken, at a glance, for the "modify profile" button.
I think the option to freely delete your own account should be disabled, as I myself nearly clicked it.

If you click on it, a new window pops up asking whether you really want to delete your account or not. I'd say it's almost impossible to accidentally delete your account.

Which is why, as Syara said, you have to confirm it. Also, if you do accidentally delete your account or whatnot, an Admin can restore your postcount and karma, so its not the end of the world.
I don't recall a code to disable that, though I'm sure there is one. It hasn't been an issue for us though, so no need.

Thank goodness for that, but what would be of all the poor saps on this planet who clicked on it if there were no prompt asking for deletion verification?
