think there is a case for Biblical references in Avatar. Indeed the Fire Nation's actions in the war seem to synch up with Revelations. Just follow the links in the various verses. I'm just saying that the creators created pieces of situation that referenced the Bible, I'm not trying to offend anyone. All link to the Avatar wiki,.
And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over the waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will
These are less likely to be references:
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. (Azula's fleet attack could be a reference to this but no one died)
And the people and kindreds and tounges and nations shall see their bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. (The people not rising up against Zuko and refusing to honor Azula or Ozai in any way could be a reference to that)
And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Most Biblical references that could have inspired Aang's story are somewhat iffy, but ones that could work comes from Revelations 1:17-18
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
The fact that Aang was the first avatar in a hundred years as well as the last airbender could be a reference to that passage in revelations.
I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
His entire backstory up to the point he was found in the South Pole are all references to that passage. His life at the air temple, "liveth", his cryostasis, "and was dead" and the fact that he was revived "alive forevermore" , and he having to master the four elements (the keys of hell and of death) could all be references to Revelations
I think these are all I can find.
