I have heard from other sources that the new series will be an adaptation of the manga and there will be more details with the next issue of Shounen Gangan next month.

Another FMA series? I'm interested in seeing it closer to the manga but does that mean they're doing ALL of the manga? Would they have to animate manga chapters they've already done in the past (such as the first two episodes)?

Another FMA series? I'm interested in seeing it closer to the manga but does that mean they're doing ALL of the manga? Would they have to animate manga chapters they've already done in the past (such as the first two episodes)? More like the first 20 something episodes. And I do hear they're going to do it from the beginning, but I can't say for sure yet. I look forward to some of the later manga awesomness, like Barry the Chopper and Gluttony's stomach. Although I'm not so excited for the dragging on in the latter half of the northern story arc.

That's going to be kind of weird..... I wonder if they can make the second batch of the first 20+ episodes as good as the first run. It'll be weird seeing the manga sins too, because Wrath is Pride; there's no kid Wrath.... and stuff....

Linkage... It's the same text...but it's got a picture Nice to know there's something to look forward to. But given that the original anime wrapped everything up nicely can it be based on the current manga? Especially considering Ed and Al are now in an alternate dimension...

YUS!! *is made very happy by this*
I am curious as to how they'll do it though....continue the current anime arc (maybe stuff back in Ed's world?) or restart with the manga plot. Either way, I'm excited. ^-^

I think they'll probably start over with just the manga plot. And since the FMA manga is waaaaay ahead, they won't have to make up another story for the anime. XD

A total do-over?
The anime followed the manga for quite a bit...maybe they'll make the episodes after it branched off a dream or something...

^^; Actually agreeing with Kaneda on this one. That would just make the whole series kinda lame. Personally I'd love if they just continued with the anime plot, maybe a few years later or something. But if they did decide to go with the manga plot I'd hope that they'd do a complete do-over rather than reuse episodes.

I wonder if they'll bring back the original anime's voice actors. Although I guess if the new anime is completely separate from the original one (which I think it should be so it doesn't mess with the original's timeline/AU-ness), it might be kinda strange to have the same actors back. Or completely awesome. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it. ^^

Wow! I'm really excited about this idea! I'd love to see FMA animated closer to the manga - I think it'll be a really great show. With the fanbase it has, they really don't have anything to lose by it either.
@muso- I agree with you on the VAs. I LOVE the VAs for FMA - even the English dub. Probably one of the only English dubs I enjoyed.

The only VA I see being difficult to get back would be Al's. Other than that I don't see why they shouldn't bring back most of the cast.

His voice hasn't changed that much already has it? D: (That is, if you mean the English dub.) The kid's really frickin talented - I don't know if I could handle anyone else on Alphonse. Though if Vic Mingona (I hate his last name.) is doing Edward, I'll watch it. Vic has one of the most compelling voices in voice acting (and he looks a lot like Harvey Dent oh noez!).

I was going for the crappy Dallas do-over...but I doubt there's anyone here that knows about it...it's even from before my time...and I'm ancient. I too think it would be a crappy idea...but I do really wonder what they're going to do. Bring Al and Ed back to the Alchemical world or set in in the Alchemical-less world?
