in your position I would start beating the hell out of her. 12 year olds say it like this :"jamie lynn spears is awesome, but the sh**head got pregnant" are you saying she's not as smart as a 12 year old who's whole being is dedicated to them getting laid? ..................................................... Well I guess she wouldn't be getting pregnant but if she likes girls everyone will want to watch instead....eh I guess that's a good tradeoff.

I think this discussion is pretty on track.... we're talking about preteens and pregnancy. This thread is most likely going to stay in the gutters since the topic involves sex. and I don't remember you being a mod kaneda.

HAHAHAHA, for starters, I am taking offense to the language and a few other things that make it not a approprieate discussion, topic Sex is no excuse! Second of all, I suggest you check careful before you jump to conclusions! The pink name should bea dead giveaway...I do have mod powers.

I censored it and I wouldn't consider "profane " to be down the gutter. And it's still on track regardless.
I did know you were a mod and I wouldn't of said that if there wasn't a pink name. If that wasn't a pink name you'd have a reason to feel very offended now.

Ok here I go trying to get back on topic....
I think it's just so scary that kids seems to be having sex younger and younger. When I was 16 I thought it was weird that kids my age were having sex. And now....it's kinda normal....

I mean, teenaged pregnancy is bad enough, but when you end up with 10, 11, and 12 year olds? It kinda just breaks my heart. I mean, I remember how middle school was for me. It was awkward when people talked about their boyfriend's penis in 7th grade. But now they're getting laid? Oh sweet jesus. x.o
My parents never gave me the talk but when you saw someone so close to your age, with this giant round belly and they just so horrified that people keep staring at them as they walk by. That was the scary sense of wake up call to me. You'd think it'd work right?
At my new highschool, it's down right common to see a pregnant girl. At the begining of the year, some kids play the game. 'Count the Fetuses' This first 2 weeks of school alone, I counted 22 girls. 6 of them freshmen. ><
But then they hear so many stories of girls who 'make it'. They graduate high school, keep their boyfriends, and have this baby. It's like rationalizing that having a baby during your school years is down right okay!
Like when I waiting to get out to my car, I hear these sophmore girls rubbing on their pregnant friend's belly. 'Oh my god I felt it kick!' 'Omg Anna when are you due?' 'Oh my gosh Anna is it a boy or girl' then the pregnant girl goes 'Girl' and they all squeal happily for her. THEY'RE 16 NOT 26 OMG 2_EDFIJOWEJF
kids these days.

Did anyone give you the talk I know this is cruel but I'm laughing at these girls' idiocy at the moment.

Isn't there a biological reason for this? Why most people have more carnal urges at early ages?
Centuries ago, you didn't live to the age of 50 without contracting some life-threatening illness. I think that it was biologically predisposed for human bodies in the preteen-teen to go "reproduction ASAP" without fully developing a more developed system of thought/psychological perspective in which they can consider the long-term effects and determine the "right time" to do it.
So as stupid as we call these girls, considering the numerous warnings and explanations as to why they SHOULDN'T have sex, there is a reason why they would override their illogical thought processes for something like a few seconds of intense pleasure.
Also, I'd recommend considering the socioeconomic conditions of these girls (or even guys). If they're poorer, then most likely their parents aren't able to find enough time to raise and explain them to believe that sex at an early age would be counterproductive to their life. In addition to this, their parents may not have been well educated either, thus chain reaction occurs and they have no-one convincing to look towards as a role model, and they do it anyways. Teachers have a great effect, but that is only if the kids were in a lifestlye in which education and respect were valued in the family.
In an overworked, middle class family, that's very difficult to create.
ANOTHER matter I'd bring in is the social aspects of teen pregnancy. Most people at DH look down on it, but truly, in real life, doing something against the rules creates a reputation. Someone actually is able to do this and face punishment/escape it through bravery or shrewdness:
-These people could be "brave" enough to handle a child or the punishments of having sex at an early age.
Or
-These people are clever enough to handle the situation in which they don't conceive a child, or they can escape punishment.
These people are looked up to as Role Models and tend to have idolizers.
These idolizers may want the same kind of reputation, and thus repeat the process, however, they may not be as "smart" or "brave" as their idols, and thus screw up somewhere on the way. Mostly it's because of these ridiculous reps that make people do stupid things.
And final matter I'd bring in is the development of the mind at this age. People have preconceived notions of "love" from movies and TV dramas, when they truly don't have a firm grasp of their own reality OR of an abstract concept as Love (what love entails, the different variants and degrees of love, the difference between passion, intimacy, and commitment, etc.). They're deceived into believing that with love, life is paradise, which most adults can attest to as false.
Because of this, they become involved in relationships and when the harsher part of life comes out, they're unprepared for it, taking a direct hit and not being able to comprehend the situation well enough to come to a resolve.
But it's not all their fault, because "chick flicks" and love movies that always have a happy ending sell well: they make people feel good and optimistic, and deep down, we all want to feel loved.

It is that F**in simple.

Horyo: You and your long drawn out comments. X3 Awesome. Yes, I do think there are biological factors as well. Girls are maturing faster definitely. Not just mentally as we've been discussing. Physically, girls are changing much earlier than they used to. I believe it's because of growth hormone given to milk producing cows. These girls start to develop at young ages like ten and eleven because of the hormones in their milk - this is rather personal but... I did. I began to grow into a woman at eleven. Twenty years ago that stuff didn't happen. Of course, I was smart enough not to get myself in trouble, but it could be part of the reason that these girls are ending up the way they are. I saw a girl on Dr. Phil today shut up my mom watches it that was ten years old and having sex chats with guys online!!! SHE'S TEN! I didn't even know that much at ten! I was watching Powerpuff Girls and Sailor Moon! Anyway, her parents took away her computer, etc... then THEY GAVE IT BACK. That's the biggest mistake right there. Parents are giving these girls a lot of leeway, and it seriously messes with their heads.

@ Horyo: These primal urges are, to me, a bit far fetched. My peers and I, when we were 10, 11, 12, were more focused on things like Pokemon, cartoons, and forging our parents' signatures on notes the teacher wrote home so we wouldn't get into trouble. Our primal urges didn't kick in until after the first stages of puberty.
And I can't speak for every single person of Generation Y, but from my experience--we got the sex talk in school and we were shown videos of how miserable and unhappy people with babies seemed.
I still say that unreasonable standards of beauty and social pressures on women are the root of this issue.

I got the talk when I was 11,and it was by a 13 year old girl that told me almost immediately after I met her that she had sex seven times already. She was 13. Granted, teenage sex and pregnancy is becoming more common but still, thats still young and me being 11 years old I just stared at her like she had six heads because frankly,my parents did the whole sheltering bit,I didn't know much of anything about sex...I knew the word,I knew it made babies...but the how and where and all that was a whole different world. She asked me how old I was, because I guess I looked older to her,and when I said "I'm 11" she gave me the whole talk top to bottom, every gory detail...and she ended it with "and you're not allowed to do it until you're 30!"
It's sad,and sick that preteen girls are getting pregnant, teen pregnancy is bad enough on its own,at the high school in this area its common for the girls to get pregnant before the end of their junior year, but preteen stuff is pretty much death to whoever was involved. Rape is a big issue,a lot of peds running around with the nerve to do something and a lot of freaked out kids not knowing what to do or say because as wrong as it is,some adults are just that manipulative.

And the mom's excuse for why her daughter knows what those words ment is stupid.
