Here's what I'm hoping; and it may have been said before; if not, I'll probably be flamed for it's absurd unlikelyness XD But anyway, as akako said: Daddy is mad at Azula and... does all this stuff, lol. Like not allowing her at meetings, and resending her to annihilate le' Avatar... I've read those spoilers somewhere.
I'm hoping she phails horribly or.. breaks down >-> And then Aang like.. gives her a second chance instead of going into a cold-blooded killing revenge rage (given that Katara doesn't kill her instead); Azula FINALLY cries and tells everyone how she just wished her mum loved her.. and stuff XD
C'mon, it's a little plausible! *hopes*

conspiracytheorist: Due to the nature of Azula's character, her success usually begets someone else's misfortune. The fact that she stands to inherit the Fire Lord's throne is the result of many unfortunate events that befell those ahead of her in the line of succession. If Lu Ten hadn't died... if Iroh had challenged Ozai's precocious claim... if Zuko hadn't been banished... all of these cumulative transpirations made it possible for her to become the current heir apparent. If one of them hadn't come to pass, there'd be little-to-no chance of her becoming Fire Lord. I think it's natural to wish for the best for one's favorite character. While I don't clamor for Ozai's death -- might be hard to believe, but I actually like him; just not as much as his daughter! -- it appears to be the only way for Azula to assume the throne, unless she soundly defeats him in an Agni Kai or something along those lines. Well... on the subject of Sozin's Comet, Roku had this to say: Roku: One hundred years ago, Fire Lord Sozin used that comet to begin the war. He and his Firebending army harnessed its incredible power and dealt a deadly first strike against the other nations. ...And it's pretty much all we have to go on, at this point. Seems every Firebender obtains a boost of power from it, and I highly doubt every bending denizen of the Fire Nation would have the knowledge to "control" a celestial body. I've always been under the assumption that it bestowed its strength to Firebenders simply by being in the sky, much like the sun. No one controls the sun, yet it's the unquestionable source of a Firebender's power. So, I'm siding with SpiritBender here. yiceman: Azula's proclamation regarding her "divine right to rule" was a very telling statement about her character and the direction it could take, from a narrative standpoint. I do believe it carried -- and continues to carry -- more significance than a simple denunciation of Long Feng's commoner status. For the first time, it showed she believes in something: herself. We can accurately surmise that her divine right to rule equates to an eventual claim of the highest honor of her nation, as opposed to remaining a Princess: that of Fire Lord. Whether or not it translates into an actual plot-point in the story remains to be seen, but I maintain that the option is still on the table. Done right, it could consummate into a wonderful plot-twist and bring Azula to the forefront as the epiphany of "true evil" within the show, should the writers choose that direction. For a "minion", Azula possesses an unusually strong presence, as well as an immeasurable pull on the audience. I lurk on many Avatar forums -- to this day, I still see many a fan treating Azula as the central bad guy, not Ozai. Yes, even after DOBS. I find her effect on the audience to be very interesting. Until proven flat-out wrong, I find myself unable to give up on this theory. avatar:tla-lover: And that could be the catalyst for a betrayal; an upheaval. I can't see Azula reacting well to belittlement and/or punishment. Who, or what, could set her off like that? We haven't even seen Azula and Ozai interact with each other. This could be it...

@goz--The divine right idea held more sway before we knew what Ozai is capable of. Now he appears to be more powerful than Azula, and just as ruthless. So I don't see her taking the throne because he feels unfit.
Yet her own personal ambition might cause her to seek it. I've agreed with you there numerous times. But I don't think you can convince me that she'll GET it.
For reasons I've said...Aang and Azula have fought far too many times, and her relationship with Zuko is just more personal.

I think the reason why people see Azula more as the bad guy than Ozai is because we've seen more of what Azula could do than Ozai. She's crafty and manipulative and is always ahead of everyone. The only thing we've seen Ozai really do is bend lightning as if he were fire bending instead. The more we see of Ozai (which is what I hope), the more we'll see that he's the Main Bad Guy.
Like Yiceman, I can clearly see the marks of ambition for her to want the throne and attempt to get it, but I can't see her as Fire Lord by the end of the series, at least not anymore. DoBS changed that idea for me because I got the impression during the scene with Zuko and Ozai that there's more to the Fire Lord than meets the eye.
