It's my job...
While I still remain skeptical about Azula actually taking the throne from Ozai, especially after the guy's revealed himself to be just as evil and quite possibly even more powerful than his daughter, I am more firm than ever in my belief that Azula is conniving, manipulative, vile, and utterly diabolical to her core. She doesn't have a compassionate bone in her body.

I think it's totally possible for Azula to be doing the same thing to Ozai that she did to Long Feng. What is she doing to Ozai that she did to Long Feng? Long Feng never sat on the throne of the Earth Kingdom. And the throne of the Earth Kingdom now belongs to Ozai. She messed with his head and pulled something he never thought of. Would Ozai really think his beloved daughter would betray him? I'm gonna think not. He trusts her to do his bidding, so he wouldn't see Azula turn on him and try to take the throne from him. That's what I meant. It's only my opinion, but I just don't think that Azula is a loyal to daddy as many may think. I just can't see her waiting 30 or 40 or longer yrs to get the throne, she's way too ambititous for that.

The last thing we need is someone like Azula as the main villain. Azula is to pathetic and shallow to even think about playing sutch a huge role. She has absolutely nothing to bring to the story, and that's a big no-no for a main villain. If Azula were to become the final villain, the entire story would be ruined.

Well Zuko gult did him in and was just azula that push it further but I'm quessing I'm one of a few who don't believe that Azula will try to gain the throne...much of the second half seem to following orders from the fire lord.

This is coming from the person to support Azula so many times? I would disagree with you. Azula is complex, if static. She is a villain after all and not an antagonist or anti-hero. I wouldn't think Azula's shallow. I think I would compare her to Iago of othello (great villain like Azula by the way). Both have some pretty clear goals: Azula is a perfectionist and is power hungry while Iago is clearly out for revenge. Yet the percise motives behind each is muddy; you can see by how people argue about Azula's true motives, and you can surely make a very strong argument on any number of stands for Iago from the text. Azula is unlike the other main characters in the vagueness that sometimes surround her. And she contributes nothing to the story? Oh yes, I forgot Ba Sing Se was going to fall by some other means and the invasion was going to fail regardless. Totally forgot she wasn't in those episodes at all. "And because you can't see, I should probably tell you I'm rolling my eyes." Maybe it's a slip of the brain, but those two most pivotal points in the series (ie: the Gaang's failure) were all the results of Azula.
I would love for her to continue as main villain, but the only reason I don't think quite so is because Ozai has always loomed, present or not. And he has to do something badass in the end.

Sunshine,
Azula is my favorite character, so I'm going to support her. However, I'm not blind. Azula does not have the character depth needed to fill such a large role in the story. Plus, There's Ozai, who, by the way, already has started to put his stamp on the series. Ozai, unlike Azula, is actually designed to play this type of role in the story. He progresses the plot and the characters far better than Azula ever could. When Ozai is present, you can feel his presence. You Know that something big in the story is about to happen. Furthermore, Ozai plays a big part in both Aang and Zuko's story. Ozai is needed to bring conclusion to the story, unlike Azula.
I know I'm an Azula fan, but that doesn't mean I always have my head up her @ss. It's hard to believe that you're suprised, considering that you already know how I feel about Azula.

I acknowledge that my original theory died today -- the one that involved Azula framing Zuko for Ozai's death. Rest in peace, theory. Anyway, why wouldn't they do a Zuko Alone-reversal? We thought she was lying; she wasn't. We think she's being honest and loyal to her father; she isn't. The ultimate irony. And things aren't always what they seem. This has been my theory for a while and I think it still holds water. (Sorry if any of this has been said already, I don't really have time to read through everything, I just need to say this before I forget lol) Anyway... I don't think that Azula really expected Zuko to turn on the family and when she and Ozai run into each other he's going to give her hell. Yell at her for lying about Zuko killing the Avatar, letting the Avatar live, ect...Then Ozai will tell her of Zuko's betrayal and she'll take advantage. Kill her father and blame it on her brother. He has betrayed the fire nation, and it will be easy for her to prove that Iroh breaking out, which Azula could say that Zuko planned, and his alliance with the Avatar which he probably mentioned in his letter to Mai (I'm thinking Azula will be getting to the letter Zuko left for Mai before Mai gets a chance to see it). I know it's a little dark for Nick, but I still really want this to happen. Of course, I've always seen Azula as more of a front lines fighter instead of sitting on the throne doing nothing but reading maps and sending other people to do the fighting. (Bed time now...work in 4 hours *groan*)

^No, killing Ozai I can't see. Well, if it was put that way. I see her killing him in a more underhanded way considering from DOBS Ozai shoots lightning WAY FASTER then she ever did. If it came to that she'd be dead in seconds unless she somehow learned the redirection technique or her agility saves her.
In response to her not striking as soon as people would expect I quote Jack Sparrow
"No, no, no, by all means kill the whelp. Just not yet. Wait for the opportune moment."

^I think she will get punished in some way. Ozai seemed pretty surprised and at first didn't even believe Zuko. When Zuko was insisting that Aang was alive Ozai seemed really worried and he always struck me as a "total obediance" type which Azula herself inherited.

Who here thinks Azula is going to be punished for lying to ger dady? Yes, I think her, Ty Lee and Mai are going to join Zuko.
