Now, I never considered myself to be the romantic type of chic. Honestly, I hate reading those drawled modern romance novels or sitting through some chick flick at the theatre.
But add some supernatural situations, and some martial arts action, then you got me interested, and I can be a zombie-ish, romantic daydreamer.

thingy though. Romance can get a little bit - detailed.
One book that is drawing my recent attention is the Dark series my Catherine Feehen, starting with Dark Prince. I first found out about the vague characteristics of the series through a fanfic that was inspired by it, and I found out about the actually series after reading the author's note. I love the fanfic enough as it is, but after starting the actually book series - wow.
It's about this ancient race of humans called Carpathians. They're a supernatural race who feed on blood, but never kill their victims, transform into mist and animals, can control the forces of nature, have telepathy and have a near immortal lifespan. But their race is dying out because in recent centuries, the women are giving birth to less children - most of them being born male - and even then most of them die within the first year. Since there are less females, males are outnumbering them and barely none of them have a lifemate - which is the other half of their soul and existance. Without a lifemate, the men loose their emotions and sight of color, and they become darker and darker, until they either become vampires, or "embrace the dawn" a.k.a commit suicide.
The first book is about the Carpathian Prince and him finding is lifemate - a human woman, which has never happened before...
It's an enthralling series, and I recommend it (though the rating is for people 18+).
