Haha, I caught myself thinking of Zutara when I saw a toy truck that was blue and red yesterday. I even believe that Zutara is the only colour-coded ship for me. It's that special.

When I was cleaning my room, I found pretty much every old Zutara drawing I ever did. I really need to revisit these two, but my tablet died, so... ehhh. It's hard for me to get up the willingness to draw like I used to.

Yeah I can't even think of ships with colors in other fandoms of mine. I guess if I had to pick them, they would usually go by distinguishing hair and eye colors or clothing. Even in Avatar, blue and red is so much more powerful than blue and yellow. Not even being biased there.
I don't have any artistic talent, so my Zutara pictures were always just a step up from stick figures with a bunch of captions and quote bubbles with spazziness all over them. I always get a good laugh when I come across them now. And it's funny remembering how much I hid them from my family. For some reason, I was soooo embarrassed about my shipping obsessions and didn't want anyone to find out.

I will say that shipping Zutara kind of... prepared me for future ship wars. Though they are still just as annoying. I don't understand what all the fuss is ever about. Fanfiction is more fun with fanon anyway.

I don't think I've even been involved in any shipping wars recently. Oh well.
And it's true that if your ship sails in canon, you get a moment of satisfaction, but afterwards it's not as fun. Fanon ships can have endless storylines that can be enjoyed for many, many years.

Ha i just went to see if anything new popped up on this thread and then it wasn't on the 1st page and I was like I've never had to experience clicking the next page button to get to the Zutara thread xD

Yeah, I think all the shipping discussion has gone away since the show ended.

Haha MzLazy - love it! Haha it's hard to imagine being as passionate as I was for Zutara. I can't wait for Korra to come out so I can get that into a ship again. Okay, maybe not THAT into it. I don't think many more tears will be shed for a fanon ship in my world. But we'll see.
And femble, that is lovely! Gosh, it's been so long since we were all so active here.

Hey guys! It's been too long but hopefully with Korra I'll have more to talk about on the board And I'm sure it's been said before, but anyone feel like with Korra and Mako, they're trying to make it up to Zutara fans? (I also love that they named Mako after Iroh's former late voice actor, or at least that's what I choose to believe)

*comes out of nowhere* XD Yeah, I've seen the Makorra stuff. I'm not gonna lie... I think I may be the only one that's unsatisfied with it? :[
I mean, it's a cool gesture and all, to give us Zutarians that, but it would never compare to the real thing. It's too forced. Kind of superficial.
(Not to get anyone mad about it. x.x

My initial "the glass is half empty" view is that Bryke did it that way, but at the same time, I'm trying to be more positive and think that Makorra isn't an "apology" to Zutara fans, but perhaps the fact they saw the light potential of a relationship between a firebender and waterbender.

I don't think they ever saw a relationship between a firebender and a waterbender as a bad thing per se - they just wanted Kataang in the end. I WILL say, however, that a relationship between a waterbender and a firebender is still kind of a big deal in showing how things have changed since the war ended. The lands are no longer segregated.
