A-haha, I remember you reading these beauties to me. ;D Loved them then; love them NOW. Yet again, I bestow you with much-deserved karma! Also, I'm thinking about changing the thread title to just "Melis's fic corner", so I can upload my other one-shot fics instead of just Kataang and Zujin fics. What do you guys think? The decision is really up to you. But here's the thing: if you change the thread title, you have total freedom to post whatever you want -- and, in doing so, you potentially widen your audience. With the way you write, this can only be a GOOD thing!

Aw, thanks guys! I really do appreciate all of the support and whatnot that you give me! Also, I've decided to change the name of the thread so I can just post whatever I want here (within the rules, of course!) so I now dub this thread: Melis' Fic Corner!Yeah, lame name but it's only temporary until I think up of a better one! So to start things off, here is a Kataang one-shot that I wrote awhile back that I thought I posted here but never really did, and an Azula one-shot that I wrote for GOZ waaay back: &&&
"Late Night Walks" - Katara/Aang
They stopped by a closed off Fire Nation beach earlier, enjoying the relaxation before they had to go back on their way. Soon, day turned to evening and then evening to full blown night, as the Gaang tried their best to have some fun.
Toph and Sokka were off somewhere, collecting sea shells and examining, well, mostly Sokka examining them and Toph nodding her head at whatever he spouted about it.
Aang was by the shore, watching the waves crash back and forth and enjoying the cool air. He hadn't felt the cool air in a long time, and considering how long he had to wear his disguise, it was a blessing from the scorching heat. His eyes closed, he tries to smell the salty air of the sea and feel the wind crashing and pulling. It was as close as he could get to some airbending because he couldn't, out of fear that someone might see them and think he's the Avatar.
Katara watched him as he sat there, pondering to himself and wondering what he was thinking. He hasn't really been distant lately, but for some reason she felt a gap between them that wasn't there before. She doesn't blame him, she never could, and nor would she think of it. His attitude had changed drastically, although on rare occasions he would show it off and she'd smile, and then she'd blush.
Things were changing quickly for her, and it felt as if all those feelings she felt for him knocked her off her feet. It was deliciously appropriate, mainly because if he wanted to, Aang had the power to sweep anyone off their feet -- she was no exception. However, the more she watched him sit by himself, all alone, the more she wanted to be there for him. In some instances, he wouldn't even let her, but perhaps...
He was startled when he suddenly felt her hand on his shoulder, and turned around to give her his full attention. She looked down at him and smiled, briefly, before saying: "Hey, come with me for a second?"
He stared at her, and for some reason he was tongue-tied.
She sighed, and then grabbed him by the arm, leading him to a narrow path that she had no idea where it led to, but that's where the mystery and fun lied in, she told herself.
Aang certainly felt shocked and surprised by the notion, but didn't mind it so much when he noticed how soft the skin of her fingers felt against the skin of his arm...
She finally let go after a couple of steps away from where they were before. Catching her breath, she looked back at him. "Come on a walk with me, please?"
She asked so eagerly that he couldn't say no, not like he would, anyway. The two started walking side by side, the moon illuminating the darkness that crept around the area. Silence was everywhere, and the longer it held, the more embarrassed he felt...
"You know, I really do like your hair." she said, and it was something that stopped Aang in his tracks. It wasn't because of the sudden testimony, but because of the way she said it. It was a feeling he couldn't describe, but it sure made him feel jumpy, especially in his chest. He was too caught up in that feeling that he couldn't find the words to really say.
Katara noticed the sudden change of atmosphere between the two. It was amazing how one moment with Aang could make her feel so totally different than before. True, their relationship isn't exactly on the same level as that of her relationship between her brother and Toph, because it was so much grander than that. Sometimes she feels like if it was a bad thing, because it made her feel more reckless than normal.
And recently, things have been...
She chuckled. "Hey, can I ask you something?"
His ears perked up and his face was redder than before. He turned his attention back to her when he heard her voice, and wherever Aang was before she sought his attention, she had a feeling that she'd known it before. "Uh, sure...?"
"Ever since I saw you with hair, I've always wanted to run my fingers through it. I bet it feels really soft and smooth and well, I was wondering if I could. Well, you know, since you're going to shave it off soon. I don't want to regret not touching It." she added that last sentence rather quickly, as if trying to hide something, and if Aang caught on or not she didn't really know.
"I-I guess you could. I mean…” he quickly added, "I don't mind." He smiled at her.
She smiled back, and then sat on the sandy ground, motioning him to do the same. When he finally sat beside her, she reached both arms out and cupped his face. He blushed at the sudden contact, and thinking that she was going to kiss him, he closed his eyes and was about to pucker his lips before:
"Aang, what are you doing?" she giggled.
He opened his eyes and apologized, to which she replied: "It's okay. Though, the look on your face was priceless."
He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment before she cupped his cheeks again. He had a hard time concentrating on other things, but he tried to anyway. The sound of the wave’s crashes against the shore, the gentle cool breeze passing by, and even some of the animals making whatever noise, just to drone out the vision of Katara's blue eyes gazing into his. No sooner than his thought captured him, he felt her fingers running through his hair in slow actions.
Closing his eyes, he relaxed and enjoyed how wonderful it felt, each and every stroke making him red in the face.
"I'm going to miss seeing you with hair..." she whispered, one of her fingers touching the skin on the back of his earlobe as it trailed down towards his neck, touching the hair there.
"I'll keep it if you want me to..." he whispered back in return. When he heard what he had said he snapped back into reality. "I mean...!" he added with haste.
She smiled, and when he looked at her, he smiled too.
"You can't keep it, Aang. You have to fight the Fire Nation as yourself, not under your disguise."
"You're right."
"But still," she never left his gaze. "I appreciate it." Her fingers move towards the headband that kept his arrow hidden, and for good reason, because it was what recognized him as the Avatar, and they couldn't have that happen here in all places. Her finger ghosts across the golden seal in the middle of the fabric, trying to imagine his blue arrow from memory.
Then, she moved both of her hands to the back of his head to undo the knot that held the headband to his forehead. When she finished undoing it she gave it to Aang to hold in case they left it behind. She moved her hands back up into his hair, feeling it once more before moving towards her target.
Her fingers glide down across to where his arrow tattoo was. Katara hadn't seen it in a long time, covered by the headband that Aang wore as a disguise during their stay into the Fire Nation. She traced the line of the arrow until it stopped at the tip right between his eyebrows. Her gaze fixated on the blue as if somehow mesmerized by how familiar and yet, by how foreign it felt to actually see it now.
"I missed seeing your arrows, Aang." she remarked breathlessly. "It's funny how you're so used to something, and when it's taken away, you cherish it even more." Her words held more ground than she noticed, and when she did, her cheeks instantly turned beat red at how carelessly they came out of her lips.
Aang stood there not saying a word, his cheeks were red too, and his gaze was on her constantly. He couldn't help but feel awkward. The two were all by themselves on some Fire Nation beach, not to mention that everything was clouded by the darkness of night.
"Y-Yeah, I know what you mean." he replied back to her, feeling the heat of her touch and wanting to so badly succumb to it.
She didn't know how it happened but, the moment she looked into Aang's gray eyes, she felt as if she was floating. Her heart, her body, and her entire soul alongside his. Everything made sense now, the deeper she looked into his eyes.
And then, without any notice at all, her hands moved down to hold on to Aang's (who held hers back in return). She relaxed, their gazes forever on the other, and leaned in slowly. He was a bit taller now, almost close to her height, so they didn't have a problem there. Katara tilted her head to the side, and when Aang leaned in closer (both of their eyes closed and eager to find out how big that spark grew over the last couple of months), she felt her lips brush against his gently.
His lips were wet but soft, and she wouldn't want it any other way.
She swore she felt a current run throughout her system, and it tickled at every sense and emotion she held inside. His kisses were so gentle and kind, pure and yet, filled with a sense of passion that she never understood until now.
Then again, she shouldn't feel surprised. Aang always had a way of showing her things that she never knew, understood, and experienced before. This moment wasn't any different, and for that, she thought to herself, she will always be happy to know that she'll forever be by his side and him to hers.

"The Sun In His Eyes" - Azula centric
Her machinations were one to be feared. She was ruthless, yet cunning, hot and yet had a cooler demeanor than most. She was not ruled by her element of Fire, she ruled the fire within her grasp. It was nothing more than a flame she possessed and was born to conquer. Her brother knows not this, and growing up he had no clue what he was truly capable of. He had the right and the ever-growing power that would someday be released. Azula desires the power and one whose power hungry will always do what they can to get what they want. They would play with an emotion, tickle whatever would interest them and play them like puppets.
Holding the strings as she controlled them from the shadows.
Her older brother is her latest target.
He knows the sun but she does not. It burns brighter for him as he is the heir apparent, but it only shines for her. A neither mere spark that she does not want nor have any desire to continue to keep. She wishes to make the spark grow bigger and explode into a sudden and destructive force that only she could muster. She was the only one capable of holding and wielding such a machine.
Her brother knows nothing; he remains oblivious and lost in his own darkness. It does not matter to her because she knows what she's doing and she does not remain oblivious, even in the darkest of corners. Perhaps one day, he'll see her sun in the darkness, but it does not matter to her whether he sees it or not. It was inevitable, it was her time, and so this was his. He could escape, but there'd be no exits now that the games are this high in the stakes.
"Brother," she'd whisper into his ear with an emotion she'd expressed before: familiar. "If you're near to the dark, I will tell you about the sun."
The sun, the glorious Fire Nation, (what he assumes is) his destiny.
She'd grant him that wish, just to have the satisfaction of crushing him and watching him in despair. A smile, a grin, a smirk would crack, and then she'd enjoy watching the spectacle.

It's hard to put into words how mindblowingly awesome your stories really are.
We all know how important Aang's culture is to him. The fact that he was willing to keep his hair for Katara speaks volumes about his feelings for her. "I would do anything for you." And Katara's appreciation was clear.
"I missed seeing your arrows, Aang." she remarked breathlessly. "It's funny how you're so used to something, and when it's taken away, you cherish it even more."
^So very true.
Azula is arguably one of the hardest characters to write, because she lacks a full range of emotion. So, when writing her, it's easy enough to wander off and give her traits that aren't really there. But you stray away from that, instead capturing her craftiness and ever-present desire for power. I'm HONORED that you wrote this for me!

Awesome!I'm sure Katara's just dying to run her fingers through Aang's hair in the real show, and I'd die to see it actually happen like that lol. As for Azula, it was very...Azulaish lol. Can't say much more right now, I need to eat my dinner.

@goz: To hear you say that I got Azula right on character is like, something HUGE. So I'm honored! I'm glad you liked the Kataang fic as well! @kataangirl: Yeah, I agree. If she runs her fingers through his hair I will die of cuteness. And speaking of cuteness, I finally finished your request! Here it is, I hope you like it!: ***
"The Perfect Proposal" - Kataang ~ Requested by Kataangirl22
It took him two weeks to get all the materials he needed: the ribbon, the crystals from the caves in the North Pole to make the pendant, and the iron for the golden clasp that held it all together.
...And it only took him a month to make the betrothal necklace. Aang tried his best to make the necklace look authentic, since this wasn't a custom known to the Air Nomads, but to the Water Tribes, down to the water tribe insignia carved into the pendant. The lines were wobbly during his first tries, and it took him 10 tries to get the waves just right.
But it was worth it. Katara deserved only the best.
They’ve been together for four years now, ever since the war ended and the restoration for peace began. He could still remember the first time they kissed: it was soft and slow, but absolutely perfect. Just how he imagined it. He loved everything about her, there was nothing that he did not like or loved. If he could put into words how much he adored her, then he’d spend the rest of his life writing down those words in a parchment long enough to go across the Four Nations and beyond.
They were inseparable.
Wherever Aang went, Katara would follow. He knew that being the Avatar meant traveling from place to place to settle disputes or civil wars or treaties around the world. It wasn’t easy, but he was happy to have had Katara by his side throughout it all. It really helped him a lot to have her there, helping him overcome daily frustrations and grief. Sometimes they would have to go their own ways, but they would always keep contact with the other via letters. He still has most of her letters, tucked away in a wooden box that he kept underneath his bed. When she was gone from time to time, he’d re-read them every night, imagining her speaking the words of love she’d express for him that were written down in each and every letter.
He knows how she feels about marriage because they’ve talked about it before:
“What do you think about…marriage?”
He remembered asking her, his heart feeling like it was stuck in his throat. It was a pretty touchy subject, and they’ve only been together for two years at the time…
“Well, to be honest…I haven’t given it much thought because right now, I don’t think I’m ready for something as big as marriage. N-Not that I don’t really like you…or anything…”
He also remembered how cute she looked when she blushed after adding that last line pretty quickly.
But he understood, and it’s not like he was rushing her. If she didn’t want to get married now then he’ll wait, but he still wanted her to have the necklace and he wanted to have everything ready for her 18th birthday.
He already knew what he was going to tell her. He’s rehearsed it hundreds of times in his mind. He felt a bit nervous nonetheless, but If a man like Sokka could get nervous about the same predicament, then what he was feeling was normal.
They were going to throw her a celebration for her birthday, and he wanted to propose to her right before the party. So when the morning of her birthday came, he asked her to meet him outside of the gardens. It was the perfect spot! The many different flowers and greenery would make the setting romantic.
“I want to talk to you about something important.” he said to her right before.
A couple of minutes later he saw her entering the garden gates, hair long and messy, wearing her blue and white silky sleeping robes, making her way towards him. When she finally approached him, she stood there in front of him, “What is it that you wanted to talk to me about, Aang? Couldn’t it have waited until the afternoon…?”
He coughed, standing up to approach her. “It’s your 18th birthday today, and I just wanted to get you something really special.” He dug into his pockets until finding the strap of the necklace, and then pulled it out to show it to her. He smiled, “It took me awhile to make, and I made a lot of mistakes, but I kept trying until it was absolutely perfect.” He held it out for her to see on the palm of his hand, “My fingers never felt so numb in my life! But, it was worth it…”
She stood there in awe at the craft that he had made for her. Her hand over her mouth, clearly surprised and touched by the gesture of such a gift. “Oh, Aang…”
“You don’t have to say yes right away, because I know how important making a big decision like this is for you, but I want you to at least consider it.”
She was speechless, unable to conjure up the right words to really say to him. He saw a blush creep up in her face, her blue eyes watering the longer she kept her gaze on the betrothal necklace. The pendant was blue and shiny, the waves of the Water Tribe insignia almost perfect, and the ribbon looked so beautiful and thin and soft…
“I love you, Katara. If you don’t want to get married now, I’ll wait for you. I’ll always wait for you.”
He gave her the necklace, and she took her hands in his. She looked down at them for a second before locking her blue eyes with his gray ones. “O-Oh Aang…” A couple of tears streamed down her face. “I love you, too.” She still couldn’t believe it. “Oh, honey…”
He was pleased, a goofy smile ran across his face. “You called me ‘honey’! I think that may just be better than a ‘yes!’”
She giggled, leaning in to give him a quick peck on the lips. “Thank you for being so considerate of my feelings. You knew how I felt about marriage, and yet you still…made this wonderful necklace for me…” She let go of his hands and held the necklace out so she could see it better up close.
“Let me put it on for you.” he asked her, and when she nodded after removing her mother’s betrothal necklace from her neck, he made his way behind her, hovering the strap across her neck before tying the cloth together at the ends to keep them safe and fastened. When he was done, she touched the pendant softly with her fingertips, admiring his work, before turning around to embrace him.
“Let’s get married.” she whispered to him in his ear. “I’m ready if you’re ready…” He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to him. “You really mean that?” he spoke back in a low voice, his happiness eminent with his tone.
“Yes!” she laughed, more tears trickling down her face. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
He grabbed her by the waist and twirled her around the gardens. They were both smiling and laughing…he felt like the luckiest guy in the world.
When he finally let her down, he took her hand and held it as they walked back to the palace. “Happy birthday, my water tribe princess.”
“Thank you, my little arrow head.”
He beamed, and she laughed once again. He really still was the same Aang that she had met years ago back in the South Pole when they were younger, and she loved him everyday and the next, because of it.

*Applauds* Thank you so much for taking the time of writing this! The whole thing was beautiful, and nothing beats Aang and Katara calling eachother pet names xD. What wouldn't I give to meet a guy like Aang, Katara is one lucky woman! I also wish I could write like this, maybe someday, if I practice enough. Thank you again for writing this!

...Oh, geez, Little Sis'. I can't see how or why. But I'm very glad you feel that way... I'm honored by your praise! I really feel that way about your writing, and you should try more Azula-centric 'fics -- that is, y'know, if you have the time.
And Kataangirl's request... WOW. Ever-thoughtful, Aang didn't push the proposal. He let Katara choose the right time. I think his show of devotion and his willingness to let her keep her independence was what finally won her over; finally earned him a "yes".
Oh, and the necklace itself didn't hurt his chances, either. ;D
Aang is the most thoughtful husband Katara could ever dream of. What a lucky girl -- and she knows it!
*Exaltations!*

Thanks you guys for all the positive comments/reviews! I really do appreciate them! Do I sound like a broken record yet? 'cause really! You guys leave me speechless XDMoving along noooow: Promises - for the Kataang100 @ LJ
"You'll be back, right?"
He stayed silent.
She grew even more anxious than before, fidgeting her fingers and a couple of tears visible as they stream down her face. Her lips trembled, "but you'll be back, right?"
"I don't know..."
She didn't care about restraints anymore. Katara ran toward him, wrapped her arms around Aang and held him as tightly as she could, sobbing and leaving trails of kisses on his cheek, then on his lips. "Please...please Aang, please come back..."
The final battle was upon them and he wasn't sure if he would come back alive, come back to her but it was one of those things that he had learned to accept, learned to control...
He takes her head in his hands, smiled softly, and then planted his lips on hers gently, lovingly, assuringly, in hopes of helping her this way. When their lips pulled apart, he whispers "I'll be back, I promise."
"I'll wait for you, I'll be here waiting...hoping..."
"I know."

Tea - for the Kataang100 @ LJ
“So, have you told her yet?”
He shook his head, pushing the tile forward. “I’ve been trying to think up of what to say to her, but every time I try, I get all my words messed up.”
The older man chuckled, observing the move the younger man just played. “Most men do. I remember when I was your age, or maybe a couple of years older, when I had the same predicament. I think it would be best if you expressed them, instead of saying them. In my experience, it's much easier.” Finally deciding what game strategy to use, Iroh placed his tile a couple of inches away from Aang’s.
“That’s the problem though.” he sighed, moving his tile. “I try and I try and I try, but I can’t…seem to do it. Plus, it's...not exactly easy..."
“Ah, then I suggest Avatar Aang, that you figure out how to express those feelings before it’s too late.” He sipped his tea. “Women and Pai Sho aren’t any different. If you play the right strategy, then you’ll win the game.”
He sat there and thought, thought, thought. His eyes looking at the tiles already placed on the board, recollecting his thoughts bit by bit. “Pai Sho is fun and all, but I don’t really care if I win or lose. Katara means more to me than that, and in this game, I don’t want to lose.”
Iroh smiled. “Well then, there you go. You already have the drive, now…you just need the right strategy.”
He sat there and thought, thought, thought. His thoughts and ideas coming together more clearer than before. Suddenly, a thought occurred to him. “I have it!” He stood up, his arms in the air and face in a wide smile. “I know what strategy to use! Thanks General Iroh! I now know what to do!”
Iroh watched the Avatar run out of the room. He sighed to himself, picked up his cup of tea and sipped another sweet delight as he thought up of memories of old romances.

"to touch the body below" ~ Kataang(st)
He sits in his room in silence, a crestfallen face replacing the once angry expression he had only a couple of minutes ago. He looks behind him, but she's left him alone...
She leans against the door that led into his room on the ship, slumping down towards the ground, eyes almost in tears...
He can't reach out to her, not now. If this happened a couple of months ago he wouldn't have hesitated. He would've been there beside her, right now, comforting her and trying his best to make her happy. But now that things were different and more complicated than before, he didn't have the luxury...
And she, she presses her hand against the metal door holding back sobs and confessions that were now lost in the wind amidst her tears. This wasn't the Aang she had known and grown to care for these past couple of months that they've spent together, this wasn't the Aang whom she had started to feel feelings for...
This wasn't him, it could never be him...
Oh but she understands. She's always understood him and felt his pain. It was second nature to her, but she still feels this way, she still wants to reach out and be there for him because that's what she provides, that's what she gives, and he could be as stubborn about it as he wants, but it's what he needs.
"Aang..." she whispers to him behind the wall that he's erected between them now. "Aang..." her palm pressing harder, hoping to touch him somehow there.
He hears her, he's always have, but he can't be persuaded by her voice now. He has a duty, he has to bring back his honor...
He has to be the hero and heroes never get what they want. Gen stuff next time around. Hope you guys like these.

Oooh, I think I like the first one best, despite the fact that it's the shortest Aang'd better come back. I also liked the Aang/Iroh bonding one, they'd get along so well, though I couldn't help my mind's choice to wander into the gutter when I saw the title for 'Touching the body below' XD.
