Avatar could have been feasibly been done in 3 seasons, but they flubbed it with the start of S3, if not just slightly earlier.
I think a mini-series would probably come off as cheap as JK Rowlings HP encyclopedia--you're doing it wrong if you can't finish your story IN THE STORY ITSELF.
I think it really is up to the fans now.

How many loose ends are there exactly? I may just be dense here, I but I didn't notice in extreme plot holes that will need an entire mini-series to fix. I think a bonus episode or a sequal movie would be ideal to resolve and elaborate on Ursa and Azula and Toph's parents.
....Besides some details (i.e. the Earth King) really aren't weren't touching if you ask me.

Koh, Ursa, Toph's Parents, Lu Ten, Iroh's Spirit Journey, How is Zuko gonna retake the throne if the people (as shown in EIP) supported his father and sister? There are quite a few things that were just left untouched, and it's irritating--we expected more loose ends to be tied up since this was the end.
And yes, the Earth King does matter--who is going to take the EK throne? They certainly can't leave Joo Dee in charge--not to mention, Long Feng is still around and Azula pretty much ticked off her Dai Li agents...

And the whole thing about the Avatar cycle. What's going to happen to the world when the cycle is broken? And...does Sokka even know about Aang and Katara yet?

With the music they used in that scene it is clear we are going to learn more about this, that was getting ready for action music. My hope is they announce something at NYCC
I dont think the minor things like Smellerbee/Longshot, Toph's parents, the earthking even Iroh and Lu ten are very essential to the over all plot but Ursa is far more so

I think they left Ursa ties open to leave themselves open to a sequel. For me the obvious choice would be the Spirit World. Personally even if the door is open for a sequel, I just can't picture it being made as it can never top Sozen's Comet.

I think if its they do make a season 4 it will be a mini-series and spinoff, story not directly revolving aang, I think this whole series is his story, and well it ended perfectly. Yeah some might say "EPILOGUE" I'd say that would raise more questions then answer, so I felt the creator left the ending of aang story on the note of the Kataang moment.

I don't know if they should do anything else...they wrote 'The End' at the finish in big Chinese letters...there's enough leeway for us all to dream of our own perfect ending...and the loose ends...it certainly given us something to talk about...it'll help the fandom survive, if only for a little bit longer.

Well theres an aweful lot of hate towards the movies primarily Symalon every one is predicting a disaster, I actually cannot see it toping this finale, I think it would have been cinema worthy, heck I would pay to see it multiple times.
I think thats its just too much of a coincedence that SDCC is a week after the finale something has to be announced

It's that throughout the series, the gave us so much information that was inconclusive to our eyes, and left it hanging there for eternity. Like when Aang was talking about how he had hope that some Air Nomads esacped the war somehow at the end of "The Northern Air Temple".
Eh. I expected there to be one of those ending montages like they have at the end of the Zelda games: They show everybody that they have met over their journey at peace and restoring their lives.
The only thing left to do now is dream.
And possibly rant some more.
(And for me to attempt to write that fanfiction.)

^I'm just ticked they did that whole "We will meet again Avatar" with Koh and yet WE NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN!? WHAT WAS THE POINT?
Either we're ranting about something we don't need to rant about or I've just gotten used to series that actually tie up their loose ends/most of their ends.-__-
