I don't even remember the EK being in this episode. DX What was the scene? During the palace scene you can catch glimpses of the bear holding up a puppet EK. EDIT: I actually checked it again and his body is puppet like, but the head is of a real guy in the bear suit.

This episode was really awkward!!! my fav part, besides katara and aang's quick kiss, was when the person playing aang was in the avatar state at the water tribe and he was attacking those tiny ships. lol!

^Admiral Zhao? He wasn't excluded. He was a doll in Koizilla's hand.

Zhao probalby wasn't in it because he failed. He didn't capture the Avatar or defeat the Northern Water Tribe. Really he was kind of an embarassment to the FN at the end.

This is one of those episodes that I started out loathing, but was laughing out loud by the time it ended. The best part of the episode was Toph. She was hilarious! Actually, now that I remember it, Zuko had some great moments in the episode, too. I particularly liked when the cosplaying child informs him that the scar is on the wrong side.
However, I didn't care for the Yue death scene. Somehow, it just seemed too sad to be joking about. Sokka apparently agreed. Suki didn't seem too eager to comfort her grieving boyfriend, either. I didn't mind Jet's death, though. However, about the "it was really unclear," bit, I thought it was confirmed long ago that Jet died. He never came back, and I thought it was pretty darn obvious that he died.
The one part that I really didn't care for was when they were acting out the crystal cave bit with Zuko and Katara. Being a slightly older fan (maybe not that much older... 20s), I tend to get annoyed by the shipping. Well, even when I was a teenager I never followed love triangles and such - they seemed like a waste of time, especially since you can see who will end up with who a mile away, or in this case, a season or two away. If I wanted that stuff, I'd watch soap operas. I knew they were pandering to Zutarians, but I that Katara was the voice of wisdom when she retorted (and these aren't her exact words), "I don't have time to think about that! In case you haven't noticed, we're in the middle of a war, airhead!"
All in all, it was a funny episode, though. "I wouldn't have cast it any other way!" -- Toph

^ Mocking sounds a bit strong tome. Maybe poking a bit of fun like with that "Forbidden Love" clip at the comic convention. Also, that part of the play helped bring in focus the fears which Aang probably always subconsciously held about how Katara viewed their relationship compared to where he wanted it to go from Season 1. In that sense, it wasnt gratuitous at all but helped move the plot along.

Oh it was definitely needed. And I guess you could say poke fun at, I personally don't see much of a difference since I'm not a shipper.

One thing this episode got me wondering was: how far can Toph feel? And what factors affect this ability? She complained that her feet couldn't "see" the stage, yet in Nightmares and Daydreams, she was able to pinpoint a porcupine from the center of a somewhat distant forest. Maybe it was all the people around that she couldn't feel the stage? Then again, how could her vibrations navigate through all those trees?
