As a big animation junkie, mystery addict, and fan of cats, I'm glad I stumbled upon this movie. It's a German animated film from 1994, based on a novel of the same name. Felidae focuses on a cat named Francis who investigates a string of perplexing and gruesome murders, the victims being the other neighborhood cats. Along the way, he discovers countless clues in the murders themselves, the information left by the crazed and suicidal Claudandus Sect, and his own horrific nightmares.
SPOILERS
It turns out that the murders were a plot by the Claudandus Sect to breed cats back to their origins in order to create a superior breed. The one who actually carried out the murders was a cat called Claudandus (Francis knew him early on as "Pascal"), who had been a test subject in a laboratory. The scientist who had tortured Claudandus was the same faceless man who had appeared in Francis' nightmares.
END SPOILERS
I'm afraid that I can't link to the movie (it's on YouTube) because of the graphic violence and swearing. But if you wish to look it up yourself, you may certainly do so.
