He not going to be “main” villain of the story...he more like a season one version from the pirates...so it doesn’t bother me if he is "that" powerful, beside he seem to have a simple mechanic for his ability to shoot out the beams...So in other words "The bigger they are, the harder they fall".

He focuses his breath. Notice that he does have a stance which is arms and legs spread wide. He contracts his lungs, because Firebending is breath and focuses it into his tattoo and fires it in a concentrated form which results to explosion in impact.

I wasn't a fan of Combustion Man, he just seemed too powerful for his own good. His eye beams destroy everything is a tad bit too realistic. He doesn't fight or do anything besides stand around shooting eyebeams. He reminds me of those comic characters made in the 90s whose entire purpose was to look "cool" and scary in order to appeal to the young boy fanbase. From what I've seen this guy has no depth and will contribute to no development in the overall plot or any of GAang character growh. Here's hoping he gets defeated in the next episode and that will be the last we hear from him. How is he to powerful? He didn't even do anything...

Well he did rip right through every attack Aang, Katara and Toph threw at him.
But you know what? It's ok. It wouldn't be ok if he was the kind of villain who's so strong that none of the good guy's attacks hurt him at all, but he's not...deep down, he's just a normal dude. He can't take a rock to the face any more than another person could.
What makes him dangerous is that his one attack is strong. He doesn't even seem to be able to firebend regularly. Does this make him invincible? No. He can't blow up someone who's too close without hurting himself.

Well said, Yiceman.
What are your thoughts on CM so far? How do you think he will impact Team Avatar?

I think he's deliciously dangerous. The fact that we know nothing about him helps. He's nameless, voiceless, and is shooting to kill.
How will he impact the gAang? I think he'll be even scarier than their other foes have been. At least Azula and Zhao and the others were part of the Fire Nation and the kids knew WHY they were after them.
But this guy...he's just some ominous man of silence who's slowly and surely hunting them down to kill them. They don't know why, and they're not used to how he fights.
Just imagine if you knew that someone like him was after you. You'd be scared to death.
And the gAang definitly needs someone actively hunting them.

Imagine if CM appeared in "The Puppet Master". Anyway when do you think their problems with CM will end? How will they defeat him and will it be his permanent end? Will the gaang hold a grudge against him?

Maybe Zuko will kill him...Sort of to make up for sending him in the first place. It might take a firebender to counter his attacks.
The trick isn't just dodging what he throws or sending other elements at him. Imagine if a firebender could catch his little cumbustion balls, wing 'em around, and send them flying back at him.

I thought he looked really cool, although I am worried that he will just be another Azula--a filler villain that doesn't do anything to drive the plot. He does has some cool features, though, which you pretty much posted. Let's hope he serves an actual purpose rather than just being there because our main antagonists are going through their character development.

Did you call Azula a filler villain? O.o
She's impacted the plot more than any villain on the show...she took over Ba Sing Se, convinced Zuko to switch sides, and killed Aang, thus leading to the current circumstances.

I'm talking before the Season 2 final. During the Final, she moved into a main character type role, and away from the filler villain she was during the majority of the season. This is one of the reasons I don't consider her a great villain, like the majority of the fandom does. She did not impact the plot more than Zhao, who was the best villain Avatar has ever had. Azula was just there; used for as an antagonist in Zuko's place so he could go out on his own and grow.

What did Zhao do to impact the plot before the finale that Azula did not?
Nothing...he just hunted Aang.
Azula, on the other hand, has a long-lasting connection to Zuko. She was his rival as much as she was Aang's.

He will eventually be defeated by the gaang, he just seems overpowered because they dont yet see any weakness. Would you prefer a weak antagonist? 2. You certainly seem to be jumping to conclusions about his character seeing as he's hardly been in the show yet, and hasnt even spoken. However, I do doubt that he will be a very deep character, but he can have an influence on the plot. Too say he wont is, as i said, jumping to conclusions.

OK I'll admit we still haven't seen too much of this guy but from what I've seen so far I don't like. By the looks of things, he doesn't have any contribution to the character or to their growth. His eye beams seem too cheap as it surpasses what essentially 3 masters throwing elements at him. The guy like his mind beams seems to be a one shot character, which in the long run will be doing nothing for the story. I'm not saying he can't be a challenge for GAang but at least mix up the moves and stradegy once in a while. I think a cunning villian taking on GAang or at least a group of skilled warriors would be better suited than a guy who shoots mind beams that apparently destroys everything.
Not even Azula, Princess of the Fire Nation, someone who has a background depth, causes profound changes in growth in development in characters around her couldn't handle GAang all by herself. Azula is one of the world's most powerful elitest royal firebenders in the Avatar world but somehow gets trumped by some random no name backwater comes out of nowhere mercenary?
