I watched the first episode because the commercials looked really good. But I was disappointed. :/ The acting (at least some of it) was pretty terrible and there was an unrealistic amount of sex talk. No one talks about it that much. And the two Christians were annoying. I have nothing against Christians, but they were SO over the top. And, come on, those actors do not look 15 at ALL. I like the main girl (Amy? ....don't know names yet) and her storyline, but I don't see how the other storyline (Christians and two slutty ones) fits in. The only connection is that the boy got the girl pregnant, but I don't see the need for it. I'd like it better if it was focused on the pregnant girl. I really like that part of it, but there was too much of the others for me. And I love the little romance with the nerdy boy and pregnant girl. It's so sweet. I'm still gonna be watching though.

Honestly, I watched like 15 minutes of it and changed the channel. I hated it. Edit: Add the reason why you hated it. It's in the rules, thank you.

Just another teenage drama. How many of these shows are we going to get? I mean, the title contradicts itself: "The Secret Life of an American Teenager". Well, considering that every show on The N is exactly like that, it's hardly a secret anymore.
Oh well. Teenagers want shows that relate to them and their hormone filled lives (and that doesn't fit well with me).
Yeah, I had to get that out of my system.

I know....this is like a really really really watered-down version of Degrassi. My mom thinks it's a good show for teens though. I think she just wants to scare me away from sex though. XD

I didn't bother watching it, but the commercial is plastered everywhere. I think its just a bad concept personally. Its like the most cliche/over the top teenage highschool story. And from the commerical, the acting seems pretty bad.
And like some on this board, was nothing like that at my school, or my friends school. Granted there is a handful of school like these, but who can relate to that. Its probably a show for parents to freak out, middle school kids to expect of highscool.
I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover. But I'm sorry honey, I don't touch these type of "books." Haha I'll just ask my younger cousin, he likes those teen drama stuff, I mean the kid watches Korean soaps and one tree hill. (Its okay he's still young...wait...nope.....he's in highschool. Thats bad..)

I didn't wanna watch this show after seing the commercials. These shows are so stereotypical of teenagers. We don't all get knocked up or go all-out Christian against people who do get knocked up. Most of us have normal, sex-free lives.
C'mon, give us something new and original for once.

^I was like "wtf" at the whole hiding the pregnancy commercial.
I think most teenagers do engage in sex (although I'm still virgin, so I don't engage in those little rituals).

I'm saving myself for my husband but these shows make it seem like I'm willing to give it up for a random highschool guy. >.<

I watched both episodes because I think the main character is hot. And hearing her talk about sex is hot.
And I plan to continue doing it.

My rant about high school dramas. LAWL. High school dramas. I think teenagers have enough references of what happens on a day to day basis of peer pressure. As if every sixteen year old wants to date the hawtest guy in the school and wants to make the football team. [/sarcasm] I'd be lying if I said that I didn't go through some level of high school drama (Can you say "emo"?). But, most kids don't let that b.s. get them to them. Not everyone is pressured into going out with the most attractive people in school, wanting to show up the superficial b!tch by being just as superficial as them, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, having sex, etc. Because seriously, average people don't deal with this sh!t every, freakin day. Ya know what? They should make a high school drama that takes on the life of a completely average high schooler, meaning that they don't let this cr@p get to them, and they take on the minimal stuff head on. None of the, "Ohh no! I don't know whether or not to smoke some pot with the coolest cat in class!" cr@p. How about the main character just so, "No" and get on with it. But, if you want some meat, how about the main character get their weak-willed friends out of these dumb situations? That, and maybe they should change the setting. Instead of some "average" West Coast high school with a multi-racial (but still seemingly white dominated) cast line, how about an inner city, low income high school that is dominated by minorities or something? Deal with kids who come from neighborhoods where you have to sleep on your kitchen floor and seriously want to go through high school in order to graduate and get out to make a better life for themselves instead of some rich b!tch who wants to become homecoming queen but is so confused whether to use birth control or not. It's not racist; it's true. How many high school dramas do we get that are like that (the only one that I can think of that closely relates to that is Boston High, and that series is over)? Basically, no more superficial teenage dramas! I won't watch any high school drama unless it has some level of supernatural phenomena in it (Like Buffy and Smallville). It-it's just so funny that parents still can't tell their kids "Don't have sex or you'll get chicken herpes in your nethers and I'll lose half of my respect for you" and they have to rely on washed up shows that, if anything, make them relate to characters instead of learn from characters. That, and there must be a lot stupid @$$ed parents to think that just because their kid goes to church means that they'll live a healthy, Christian life.

I asked my mom if I could read a book containing parts of sex.
She said go ahead, just don't do it.
I've been sex free for 17 years.

I was so totally in the dark about where babies came from until middle school. No kidding. And my mom gave me the talk when I was seven. I had no clue what she was talking about or the squiggly lines she was drawing on the paper to illustrate to me, but I didn't concern myself with it, and had fun being a kid up until high school when I shut myself out of the high school social scene all together in order to avoid my life from going completey Degrassi. And that's how I've managed to stay sex free.
