Ooh, we could post helpful stickies and such. The board would be a great resource and be very helpful.

Oh man, a guide to HTML would be sooo nice. Where is Akash when you need him I think that'd be a brilliant addition if anyone volunteers to write it xD

That would be very helpful...which means more brownie points for DH with other sites...
Anyway don't be planning too much yet. It hasn't even been discussed amongst all of the staff yet....

I remember Catalyst making a HTML tutorial here. If the idea goes through, perhaps someone can move the thread there?

Well, it's also nice to get other member's ideas since the purpose of the staff is to serve the forum and its members I think a guide would really help as well, divided by categories or topic...

I would be willing to make a guide to HTML. My dad works to create web pages and college courses, so I know a lot about the basics, at least.
It would also be tons of fun to make basic proboards layout tutorials. I've started one before, but I never had the motivation to finish it until now. If this idea takes root, there is so much site discussion and helpful tips threads we could do. =D

I just completed a Web Design class, so the knowledge is still fresh. XD @shay - Thats good, too. If you want I could help with that. Perhaps a link to ProBoards hacks could also be posted? Those help a lot with layouts.

Ohhh, I've done web design classes as well, but it was more along the lines of site graphics using photoshop rather than HTML, plus going through Front Page from head to toe. Pretty much a waste of time, but the Advanced Courses should prove to be more benificial. . . Especially since I don't even use Photoshop, I use PSP. *Cough*
Proboards hacks are a good idea, too.
An entire thread dedicated to Site Graphics would be col. I know for a fact most graphic designers get annoyed with "LOL CAN U MAKE BUTTONS/BACKGROUNDS/BANNERS 4 MY SITE???"

Ah, FrontPage. I use Dreamweaver. And I have basic action script knowledge, but I don't like Flash much, so I don't remember a lot.
And ohgod yes. When I used to do request I got a TON of those. Really annoying. o.O

Front Page is such broken HTML, though. I like DreamWeaver a lot better. Some of the extremely useful basics I can think for are font HTML (Color, italics, bold, etc.) as well as scroll boxes, hyperlinks, pictures, etc. But, I think we've made our point. Best to wait and see how things turn out with staff discussion.

I don't see a reason as to why they wouldn't let this go through...besides my concern of the drama.
But I'm sure that can be dealt with and passed.

Eh, the ratings and crits aren't the gist of the idea. The main idea is discussion as a main board, and advertisements as a sub board. The crits and ratings would just be a method to add substance to the advertising part, and it would be made clear that flaming was not allowed and you could decide against crits or ratings in your main post.
