Gah...I am SO MAD right now....Ok, we have this senior exchange student in band from Venezula named Raphael. He knows just enough english to talk and get by. He's a really cool guy and is always nice to me. So today, our bd told us that people have been talking about him behind his back, laughing at him, making fun of him, osterasizing him and even ABUSING him! Our bd says that he's also extremely depressed and seriously wants to go home. Then he told us, that while he is in America, our band is basically all the family and friends he has right now and even people in the band are not treating him right! That just makes me sooooo mad that people are abusing him! He's a really nice guy and people are making fun of him because he's new to the american culture. GRRRRR!!!!!!!! Whoever is doing that to him are real jerks!

it just bugs me cause he's a really cool guy if you get to know him! And it also makes me sad because band is supposed to be family, and right now, ours isn't acting like one to him....

The one thing that a fellow band member said that nearly made me cry (his grandfather just died and we had a game at the same time as the wake): "I want to be with my family, but you guys are my family too."
It was so sad. A bunch of us ended up going to the funeral for support

^ awwww...that sucks. We had a girl who's mom had a medical issue so she couldn't march with us, but she came later and just about all us Sophs gave her a hug.

<randombandness> We nicknamed a kid Suzie last week. He hates me now. ;D
His old nickname was Susaphone(?) Guy, because he was going to play it. But that's too long, and we shortened it to Suzie. ;D

Wow you have an exchange student in band to. Our's is from france. He's like godly good on the clarinet.
Wow I can't see how people would really make fun of the people you play in band with. You guys are like brothers and sisters. Practicing 6-10 hours mon-fri. And then hanging out with them at classes, and sometimes on weekends. Sleeping with them on busses. Eating together. Your like family. Man i'd be ticked as heck if that was happening.
Yeah I cried in band when seniors were giving speeches, and then one senior walked out on anothers speech and I felt heck hurt and crap. I was crying hecka hard. Man band makes you so emotional. hahahah =)

indeed....Band can make you emotional. Our squad leader was crying a bit on senior night, we all felt her pain.

hahaha...our band director would murder us if we wore any part of our uniforms outside of a game/competion/parade. He chewed out a percussionist the other day for wearing his beret around school...

XD Not my uniform *shudders at thought* It's just a windbreaker-type thing that all the band members buy. Like varsity jackets, but less expensive (athough we may get varsity jackets in a few years)
