^^Good luck! I play the trumpet and I hate auditioning! I get nervous but it normally goes well. My nervousness causes me to play fast which impresses my director because of all of the tounging required. I <3 band 4 eva!!!

^ lucky! When I get nervous, I usually butcher the piece completely. For example: During my all-state auditions, I was in the warm-up room, and I heard the other flutists warming up and they sounded like they'd been playing since they were 4. I nearly got up and walked out if my friend wasn't there talking to me. When I got to the audition room, I was so scared that I completely messed up horribly and couldn't even play a proper scale. Needless to say I was nearly in tears afterwards and was embarrassed that I had even come.

*Runs into the band room carrying her cello, plays a quick rendition of Cello Suite No.1, smashes her cello to pieces rock n' roll style and yells* STRINGS RULE!!! *runs outside*

Band starts again next week in my school. ^-^
We have to prepare for all the Memorial Day parades we play. But this year we're going to use the parades as a "trial" for potential new members to see if they want to join. Which also means that I'll find out if I got Vice President *crosses fingers*

My teacher didn't even give me the form yet 'cuz "I'm not ready". Pft. SO YEAH. I'm uber nervous and I'm prolly going to have an anxiety attack on Thursday. And I haven't even practiced all of my scales. Watch, they'll give me like, c sharp and I'll do leh philoprogenitiveness on it. *fail*

Eeek! Level 5? geeze...I think the hardest I've played was a college level piece for all state this year...and I'm still in high school. Everyone I talked to was all "What?! Hindemith for a HIGH SCHOOL audition?! What are they thinking?!" -_-;;

Everyone was like "ohmigawd a level 5!" Basically everyone that is going are doing 4, 3 or 2. Oh, I wish I was doing level 4. Less scales, easier piece, and I'd be less nervous xD
I'm not ready for All State yet. Too hard. All of the omgwtf!good people are doing it. Like, this one girl on alto was playing her solo, and it was fast. I can't even go that fast on clarinet xD
Eeek, it's like...in two days! ><

UGH!!!!!!! Our dm is so sexist! Ok, so I'm the only girl going out for assistant/future dm with about 9 or 10 other guys right?
We had our first practice today. I practiced the strut and observed too while the dms were watching and helping all the guys out. So I basically had no idea what I was doing wrong so I took a break to watch the current DM show a group of guys how to do the salute when he suddenly looks up at me and goes
"Are you just going to stand there or are you actually going to do something?"
Excuse me. It's not my fault he didn't see me practice because he and the assistant dm were helping all the guys out! It doesn't help things that there has never been a female DM before EVER in the history of our school. It just really upsets me that they're being so sexist and not paying attention when I am working and helping me out like they are the other guys. I had started to observe because I figured that was going to be the only way I was going to figure anything out if they weren't going to help me! GAH!!!!!!

That's mean =O It's not really sexist here. We've had like, an even amount of drum majors and feild majors from both genders. ANYWEH, I'm a looser and not doing NYSSMA. I had a looong talk with my teacher and we decided that it's best if I skip this year and try again next time :D So meh mom is ticked at me now. w00t.

My band's so small that we don't care, so I've had only female drum majors. None of the boys are committed enough

Yeah, alot of the bands in our local area have female drum majors, but our's has to be different....My friend in drumline said she was going to try out with me, but backed out at the last minute saying she wanted to play quads senior year. -grumble-
