I don't have practice until tomorrow But I wouldn't be able to do anything even if we had practice. I broke my flute and the people at the store haven't finished fixing it yet edit: I play the flute. What about you?

The repair people... they fix your instrument or they make it worse (like my piccolo last month >_< . It's a love/Hate relationship. Edit: Flute/Piccolo

FLUTE POWER!!! *isthebiggestbandgeekever*
The worst part is that I just spent $45 to get it fixed a few weeks ago. Soon the people at the shop will recognize me on sight....
Although it is my fault that my flute broke. I dropped it right before the halftime show at our last game. But one of the younger flute players switched flutes with me so that I could play (I don't think she knew the music anyway)

Yay lowerclassman! I wish our lower classmen were that helpful... I love home games though. They're fun! Sitting on our own bleachers, not having to ride an overly crowded band bus and other reasons. we also have a pep band that runs around without their shirts on playing random music only at home games too. *swoons*

Marching band=pep band at my school. We're also the unofficial cheerleaders, because we have more spirit than the real cheerleaders and the crowd put together. I like homegames better too, mainly because it's our field and we know where we're going (we tend to get lost a lot in other schools ^^ But we still have to take a short bus ride because the school fields are under construction and we're using a community field.

I'm glad I'm not the only band geek here ^.^ We used to have after-school rehearsals, but now that an hour of Physical Activity is required, marching band counts as our P.A credit ;D So it's two class periods of band, which isn't really that bad. This week's homecoming, and next week is Senior Night (our last home game ever! *Is kind of sad*), and then it's two away games before the end of the season. Tonight's actually a bonfire to kick off Spirit Week and Homecoming, and our tiny band is playing at it, but it's not until 8 tonight, so I have a little time for homework and such.
Have you guys ever had to march in the rain? It's all fine and dandy until your pads rot...I finally replaced ten on my alto sax this summer break -_-;

Eek! rain + wool uniform= mess. The mud can get pretty bad too. Our homecoming is in November! But that means more marching time

^ Broken pads. Not fun. That really sucks. We had a game where it started to rain really hard, but it was during 3rd quarter, so the director just had us go home (we almost never play after the show -- if we do it's old songs that only half of us know) We got to take the feathers out of our hats though.
I have homecoming on Friday. Yay for total and complete humiliation</sarcasm>.(at my school, being in band is like being the low of the low in terms of coolness. But none of us care ;D)

^Same here...but it's alright, because we always have a great time (minus one little 9th grader that tries to make life miserable). Our band only has 3 seniors this year (including me), and the rest are inexperienced marchers, so this is the first year I can remember that we're not going to contest...it's kind of sad really With the rain thing: we could tell it was going to rain (the huge storm clouds and constant flashes of lightning were big clues), but our director told us to go out and do the show anyway. We get through the first James Bond song, and then those of us on the front line see this huge cluster of leaves blowing our way...right behind it was a gigantic sheet of rain ;D So our front line calmly walks off of the field, and then takes off running for the band room ;D We lost half of our music in our folders (they were still sitting in our bleachers), and our uniforms and horns were soaked...it probably wouldn't have been bad, except we had to go to a local marching contest the next day, and our uniforms were still soaked Ahh, good times...now the only excitement we have is fighting the cheerleaders for the back of the bus.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!! A band thread!!!! ;D ;D ;D I'm homeschooled, so I only have practice once a week. But this is my...4th year on clarinet I believe. I luuuuuuuuurve it so much! ^.^ I have a little problem with a couple of my keys though. Some of them when I push them down don't come back up, and I'm missing some cork in one place so the pad doesn't get pushed down all the way and it sounds TERRIBLE! But besides that I love clarinet and band. ;D

Let's see, I think this is my 7th year of band...and I've stayed on the same horn all 7 years ;D What can I say, my saxophone's durable (and trust me, it's gone through plenty).
I love band itself, it's just our director I'm not so fond of...oh well, sacrifices have to be made sometimes, right?
