Half of my teachers just want to be popular still because they were losers in high school.
Hey now, that hurts.
I was a loser in high-school who wants to be a teacher...
or at least a "nobody"... depending on how you look at it, there was nobody i couldnt talk to.
Aaaanyways.
You are right that playing favorates is a big indicator that a teacher is plain bad.
But student participation will be a big thing for me.
However, you should treat each day like its new...
And I just kind of snapped and got up in his face. LOL
Batshit crazy can be a great virtue when you are using it to defend somebody.
Karma.
Errr Abraham Lincoln makes me mad. He gave us anoooooooother thing we have to learn in history class.
as a future history teacher, that statement
makes me cry.

In ED class, we are always talking about how America is falling behind on the "basics". math and science.
And it pisses me off. History and the social studies should be seen as the "basics" for america. We are not Japan, we are not a nation of producers.
We are orginizers.
World History, Government, and Philosophy should be the "basics" of American education IMO. It teaches you how to think.
History is the wisdom of experience. The experience of millions before you. spanning time and space. Studying Abe Lincoln, in his own context is verry important.
Do you agree with his early policies? Abe was all about more power for the federal government, Slavery was not his main issue.
He did break the constitution.
Was it right for him to do so because the means justify the ends? If so, could Bush not use the same logic?''
Honestly, I think everyone should be able to ask these kinds of questions in order to be able to vote.

anyways... something else you guys might hate me for...
I plan on giving pop quizzes.
Way too many Kids study to take tests...
They just cram the night before the test, and forget it all a week later.
Too many lax in their readings and notes because there is not that threat of a test in the near future.
So I plan on telling the kids about the pop quizes, that there will be an average of two a week, and they will not know when.
So they had better do their readings, and think during class.
Also, I plan on giving points to students who ask good questions that stimulate discussion.
