I wish the poll didn't have people like Zhao and Long Feng who aren't really part of the ongoing plot. Almost seems like a wasted vote. And anyway, of course we hate those guys. They were villains!
Except that I do still miss Zhao. They will never match him for being a hateable but funny character. The other ones just aren't as enjoyable.

I'm gonna say Zuko... I know it will get me killed but I really don't like him. I think part of it is because everybody loves him and I just don't see it. He's still a whiny Emo kid to me = / Although hopefully he will get better in season three cause he wont be running around yelling about his lack of honor... until they find out Aang is alive XD

Don't worry, everyone's got a bone to pick with Zuko to some degree. I do hate the shallow love a lot of fangirls seem to have for him--I mean, if Zuko wasn't drawn as attractive as he is, I guarantee his fanbase would drop drastically.
He's normal, sure--but he's also quite stupid. I can honestly look at him and put myself in his situation and I know I wouldn't mess up half as much as he does--but all the same, it's interesting to watch his journey. I just wish they'd get a move on with it. Sitting on the fence between the good and evil side for two seasons is getting to be a real drag. =p You throw in that ten month wait and I'm telling you, I don't care as much anymore. I just want to make sure Iroh is ok, Suki is ok, and that some of the awesome oneshot characters return.

Katara really, really annoys me, followed VERY closely by Zuko. Katara annoys me because her character is one of the most stereotypical. I mean, she is oblivious to the main character's crush on her, she is a heroic, yet motherly figure, she comes from a humble background and is surprisingly powerful... and she's the pretty one with lots of ships. I guess she just doesn't have enough mystery or depth for me to like her. And Zuko was mean to poor old Iroh. How could he? He has also had a series of bad haircuts and his voice breaks alot. It's just annoying. XD

Really, what is Katara going to have to do for people to stop hating her? She does the right thing, she's labeled a "Mary Sue" she does something wrong, she's a fool. *sighs* well at least Aang like you Katara

Well, she could start by being more realistic and having flaws--not just one episode flaws with about a minute or two of tantrums and reconciliation. Or rather, she could start being called out on and actually having to deal with the flaws she already has.
As it is, she gets praised for EVERYTHING, even her major drawbacks as a character. When your stubborn self-righteousness puts the whole group in potential danger, and your main goal is to try and save the world....yeah, a little backlash should be involved so that maybe Katara can strive to overcome it. She gets off a little too easy, and that's a big irritant to a lot of viewers.

I don't hate Katara generally. I think she's been annoying in season 3 though. I liked her at the end of season 2 when she made the joke to the generals and none of them laughed. It wasn't a funny joke and she reminded me of Sokka just then. I liked seeing the sibling resemblance.
But in season 3 she's just been sort of irrational. Annoyingly so.
I don't fault her for being a great bender. I think it's clear that she's a prodigy. If she'd started learning when she was young, she'd have been on track to be as powerful as Aang at that age. I like that she's as powerful as Azula and I look forward to them fighting again...which seems to mean they won't.
I still think Mai is the most annoying character on the show. When she's on screen I'm just waiting for the next scene to happen so she'll be gone.

It's not really the character I have anything against, it's the way the writer's present her. Katara is held up on a pedestal with these ridiculous double standards where she never seems to have to learn from her mistakes or correct them to still be deemed the idol of wisdom and beauty. The Painted Lady was a prime example. Watching it the outcome was obvious, and it kind of threw me just how immature, selfish and thoughtless Katara's actions were. But no matter what mistakes she made in the end all is happy, the River is clean and the real Spirit Lady even comes to praise Katara, wiping away any notion that she was wrong. It doesn't even seem to occur to her that Fire Nation soldiers will soon be returning in greater numbers soon(if this were realistic) to put down a terrorist threat. Instead, the writers sell her thoughtlessness as bravery and wash over accountability. Meanwhile, other characters make mistakes that they actually have to live with. So, it's not the character herself I don't like, even though she is a very cliche cookie cutter heroine, it is the way the writers try to sell her to me, when I'm not interested in buying. And here I thought I'd be in the minority. Who knew she'd be tied for first.. or last depending on your perspective.

Zuko. >_< Assko from now on! He's not only a hyprocrite, but a theif, whiny, emo, self-absorbed, little prick! I mean, he goes and betrays his uncle- the one person who stood by his side since he was banished- and then expects him to talk to him and still give him advice? Come on! >_< He expects advice from Iroh, but her hasn't earned it! GOD!
I know people were half expecting Zuko to NOT join the Gaang. I undersytand that. He hates Aang since he's been a thorn in his side since his banishment and even more since Aang returned. In fact, I bet if Aang was half-conscious on the side of a road bleeding from the head, he'll just laugh and walk by! Yeah, you heard me. That's rigfht I said it! But come on! He'd rather join a sadistic, pshycopath who's been lying to him for fourteen years than join Aang. Sure he would have had a tough time getting used to it, but really............

I am so relieved that others feel the same way I do about Katara without just labeling her as a Mary Sue and then bashing her; you two actually reasonably explained your reasons for disliking Katara without sounding rude or crazy... I wish I could do the same.
