Woah, a reply! I was beginning to think there was something eery and wrong with DH when the MGS4 thread is the one that gets no replies.
Anyway, a friend lent me his PS3 and copy of the game. It's really amazing.
They finally changed the gameplay, rather than just adding on 3D to the old 8 bit gameplay. Although I feel like I'm cheating a little when I play it like an action game.
The cutscenes are the best in the series. But I was hoping the plot would "unfold" more, like in MGS2, which went from "lol rescue the hostages so we don't have to pay the ransom" to "holy s**t, there's a giant robot the width of the hudson river crashing through NYC" This one you can kinda tell where the story's heading from early on.

Nice that you got to play the game (awesome game).
This one you can kinda tell where the story's heading from early on.
I bet this sentiment has changed as you progressed further into the game. Sure the general flow of the plot you could figure out like Solid vs Liquid. But then stuff like the "Ressurection" of that one BIG character, who was a BOSS in past games(sorry I dunno how to put spoiler tags),I doubt most people saw that coming.
Too bad it ended too soon though, but then again all MGS games do.

Oh it was definitely still a great plot. But MGS2 has what is at least one of my favorite stories from any video game, and I was hoping for something more in that vein. More surprises. Also Kojima needed to edit down the dialogue. It's good and all but wordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswordswords. Not in the anti-intellectual sense so much as in the "he doesn't need this much dialogue to get this across effectively" sense.

Yah it was a bit dialogue heavy. But it was the finale, and he doesn't wanna dissapoint the fans by keeping loose ends (not like some creators of a certain cartoon show.).
Also with regards to MGS2, I found it kinda boring, no offence. It was just that the game was kinda too depressing for me. But it did put out some of the best bosses though like Vamp and Fortune.
