Against the Catholic channel on TV.

Okay, I thought about this for a while.
As some of you know ,Mostly in the USA i think, Have maybe heard of the Catholic religious channel, EWTN.
First Just to let you know, I HAVE NOTHING AT ALL AGAINST CATHOLICS! some of my best friends are Catholics so yeah

But , Why have a religious channel on TV in a country of soo much Diversity?
It makes the Catholic Faith seem like the only Important religion out there.
Thats very racist to some people. There are other religions like, Judism,
Shinotism, buddism, hinduism, Islam ect...and other forms of Christianity like, Baptist, Protestants, lutherans, Eylipticals ((idk spelling)) and what ever

That channel also in a way, insults people that aren't religious or a different religion...Like, to me its as if they are saying: "If you don't believe in god,you'll go to HELL! or, " If you don't get baptised, you'll go to hell" and whatever"
I wasn't baptised...or at least I don't think I was and That is very insulting to me.
They also said on this Kids show, that "All Christians are Catholics" my sister, (Ilovetaang03) saw that when she was like, 9 or whatever and found that very insulting cuz my family is baptist or protestant ((but we are not religious))
And that made it seem like the catholics can't respect any other religions.

And yesterday, I accidentally flicked on to that channel and they said something about how, Its good to christinize people like, indians , asians and africans to Catholics. Thats rude to Force a religion upon someone.

They make it seem like Religion is the most important thing ever if you don't practice it, your a bad sinner and will die or go to hell or not have mercy on your soul. Its not good to tell these people that aren't catholics that cause, How would you like it if someone said to you,
"oh, you don't practice, ~insert religion here~ Your a bad person"And such.
I know that EWTN *try* not to say it out like this but if you listen hard enough, thats what they are saying. its very hypocritical and makes it seem like Catholics are dominant and should take over the world. We don't want to get all like hitler here now don't we?
And its mean to Atheists, and gives them a hard time. ((ilovetaang03 is a part atheist))

I know what you guys might say to me or comment,
if you don't like it so much then don't watch it
or,
stop judging catholics
or
this is not an appropriate subject in here

You shouldn't care


Or whatever you guys can think of I don't care. I'm sticking to my opinion.
I think that they shouldn't have EWTN or any religious TV channels on Free cable TV .
If Catholics still want to watch, Buy it on COX or Dish or HDTV.

i don't think it matters. i mean there are alot of gospels on different channels every morning. i say let them be unless they start speaking hate speech of other denominations or races or groups. otherwise its fine by me.

It's not any different than CBN, Pat Robertson's media empire. As soon as religious programming is inserted into the equation, it's almost certain that a holier-than-thou attitude will begin to emerge. How EWTN compares to Robertson in their assertion is a completely different matter that I cannot comment on since I avoid religious programming like the plauge.

Try to understand that most of those networks are there to preach to the choir. I don't think anyone tunes to any of those channels expecting to find anything they're interested unless they are wanting to hear about God's Works and are willing to pony up some cash to get that message on the air. I come from an exceptionally down-home, family-values (a.k.a. religious) Midwestern town. Nearly everyone I know there thinks that Pat Robertson is out of his gourd and they probably have the same opinion about other religious broadcasters regardless of denomination.

my theory is people can do whatever they want, and if there's a Catholic channel, so be it; if this country is so diverse that means there will be people who watch it and people who don't. It's like Cartoon Network having live action shows and movies because not everyone likes cartoons; Cartoon Network was meant for cartoons, and people who don't like cartoons used to deal and just not watch it.

Can we say WE (Women's Entertainment) is sexist cuz it has nothing for guys, or Logo is bad because it's not for straight people?

I really wouldn't take it that seriously. If you want to get rid of the Catholic station than you'd have to get rid of all the other christain station.
You say your baptist or protestant so if you want them to get rid of the Catholic station, then you better want to get rid of all baptist and protestant stations.
And by the way every comment you say catholics say in church baptist and protestant say that to. I know my dad was a minister at a baptist church and was the pastor of a protestant church. Plus I see the baptist and protestant channels on basic cable and it says the exact same thing.

Just about every religion has that "practice this or you die" type thing. Why else would we have religion in the first place? People all have their beliefs that they think is right. And when it comes to where you go after you die, they want you to die in the name of what they believe in.

This is an odd topic There's nothing wrong with a religious group having their own channel. They paid for it, that's how TV Networks work.
And most religious sects do the "hurhur I'm right you're wrong, cuz i say so now convert" thing.

Technically there is nothing wrong with them having a channel.

First off like other people have said, they paid for the channel so its theirs to do with what they want. Although other religions may not have their own channels they have their Shows. Like T.D. Jakes, Joel Olsteen, and other different sects of Protestant preachers with their shows. And on IO you can buy Indian channels so you're bound to find a hindu channel and same for other religions.

To the if you don't believe in God you'll go to hell, you have to understand that most of the priests, nuns, monks and lay people on the show are elderly men and woman from Pre Vatican two, so their going to act and talk outright like that. Does it make it right? No, but its how they are. And basically it is true to say that all Christians are Catholics. They may not all have the same beliefs, but every sect of Christanity orginated from the Catholic Church.

You're misunderstanding what they mean to Christanize people. They mean to share their beliefs with others. If they accept great, if they don't that's fine too, they're not supposed to press it any further, some people can't seem to understand that there's a point when you just need to stop.

Like others have said, most religions say that, and again, they're from an older generation, so they're going to talk like that, its just how they are. Most people don't go up and say it like that, there's a certain polite way to do it. And its not what people try to say, they just want you to understand that they think they're right, they say it because they don't want to see people go to hell, but if the people don't believe no ones at fault. And EWTN again has many elderly people, that's what they grew up hearing so they're going to repeat it. And you shouldn't compare this to Hitler at all, because it doesn't fit. Catholics aren't out to kill entire religions are races, they want to try and bring everyone together under Catholicism, but they respect those who don't want to convert, some people don't and that's the problem. In a way I guess its mean to Athesits, but at the same time it isn't. There are atheists who don't care about religion at all, and are nice about it when they tell evangelizers. Then you have the Atheists who look for things to bash religions by misenterpreting.

It's not really a big deal to have a channel on it, no onehas to watch it, and if they accidently go onto the channel, they can change it.

im sorry hinata but i aggree with Jazzie. i can see where your going and i am still offended what that show thingy said when i was nine but it is there opinions and freedom of speach. People should be able to order it if they want it but just ignore it.

Well those channels are kind of sexist. Because most of the time men are the "bad guys," I have hardly ever seen a women who was the "bad guy" on another of those shows. The same goes for Lifetime.

Of course those channels are sexist. They're designed for WOMEN. WOMEN'S ENTERTAINMENT, GET IT?

You could also say Logo is liberal for promoting homosexuality. Or Spike for being sexist against women as a designed-for-men channel. Or the Cooking channels are against anorexics. It doesn't freakin matter, cuz doing anything against them is against freedom of speech, and organizations are in their rights to have their own tv channels, save for terrorist purposes.

Point is, it doesn't freakin matter. If you don't want you or your kids watching it that's your own gorramn concern.
