Huojin stood up slowly, ignoring the stiffness in her knees from crouching down for so long. She carried a small basket full of freshly cut herbs from her garden, and roughly brushed dirt off of her pants. It had been a long day, and she was looking forward to a trip to the public bathhouses. However, she still had to hang the new herbs to dry and mix up some new tonics to replace those that she had given out during the day. And, she thought with a sigh, I still need to finish up those firecrackers for the festival. Stepping into the dark shop, Huojin lit some of the candles scattered around the room with her bending and went to work.

(OOC: Sorry I've been gone guys, been busy at school. A small note, though. When we start the actual rp, please try to enter your character somewhere near a point of action. A point of action is anywhere another non-NPC character is. Otherwise, you leave other players to stretch themselves in order to involve you, and then the focus is on involving everyone, when the focus should be on the story, with all characters involving themselves in it in some way. A public official has been arrested very recently for doing the one thing Lotus City is know not to do! Surely people should be getting together and gossiping, making their opinions know on the subject? There's also a festival, and people should be getting ready! If you want to add an event to the festival, like an equivalent to Maypole dancing for the young women, please feel free to contact me.)
"That's fine." Li nodded, drawing the curtains. "The poor thing will be upset to know you've gone on without her, but I'll tell her I sent you all on some boring errands." She winked at Seki. Buto stood as close as possible to Kin, as if hoping some of his earthbending skills might rub off on him. "C'mon! Let's go!" said Seki, pulling on Kin's hand as if expecting Li to change her mind at any moment. Normally he wasn't allowed full of the city. Not since it had begun to fill up, anyway.

" Are you sure Buto, that you can go with me... You to Skei?" Kin sadi as he looked down to the little kids faces...
"But before we do any Earthbending lets go see if I can get a job!, and on the way I'll give you tips" Kin added at the end of his sentence...

"You should go and check with your mother, Seki, and make sure it's okay to go." Li added evenly, fussing with the curtains when they let in too much light. "Awww! Do I have to?" "Yes. Kin will need to meet her anyway." Li turned around to address Kin, fitting her hands comfortably into her other sleeves so that her hands disappeared completely. "Seki's mother is Linn. You may have heard of her: outsider's often call her the Great Architect. She designed and built the city."

" Yes, I have heard of her, And I must say she did a good job designing the city!" Kin replied. Kin looked down at Seki and said "Lead me to your mother, and then I will help Buto Earthbend"

"We live in the park." Seki said as he pulled Kin out into the street, Buto trailing behind them. "Well, the southern park anyway. All four petals have parks. Mom says it's 'cause we gotsa act like normal peoples, since the city doesn't have a king or anything. Do they have kings where you live?"

Nami stepped off the sand sailer, grimacing as her foot sunk deep into the sand. What on earth had possessed her to journey into the middle of the desert? Nami's skin felt dry and tight, but even worse was the fact that there was hardly any water. As a waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe, Nami had taken water for granted. She had never felt so...unbalanced. Combined with the long journey, it made Nami feel like crying.
Paying the guide his fee, Nami unloaded her small pack and moved toward the city walls. The wind picked up, flinging sand into her face and hair. This was the last straw. Tears began to roll down Nami's face, despite her best attempts to stop them. She trudged on through the sand, wondering why she had come at all.
Once she was through the city doors, Nami knew why. Water! There was water everywhere! Nami laughed, all tiredness forgotten, and ran to the nearest fountain. Had she not been concerned with polluting the water supply, Nami would have jumped in. The water seemed to welcome her as much as she welcomed it. Nami quickly bent some water out of the fountian and dumped it on herself. At least now she was clean, even though her hair must look a huge mess...
The more Nami looked around, the more she liked the city. Everything was so neatly arranged, so organized. Nami wandered around the city taking in all the sights and trying to get oriented. She went down every back alleyway and poked her head into every shop she passed. It was wonderful! Here was a city that was totally free from the after affects of the war. Everyone was relaxed and happy.
Well, not everyone. As Nami walked though the more populated areas of town, she heard bits and pieces of the gossip. Although Nami heard it all, nothing could affect her good mood. Just breathing air that was loaded with smells and moisture was enough for today.
It wasn't until the sun began to sink below the walls that Nami decided she'd better find some shelter. She turned to get back on a main road when she suddenly stopped, looking at the medium sized building with awe. It wasn't the size that impressed her, but the sign hanging over the doorway that read "Pao's Clinic". Nami forgot all about needing to find a place to sleep or even that her hair was popping out of it's braid and knocked on the door.

The door opened smoothly, and a long, tanned face poked out near the top of the doorway. "Yes?" Pao looked at the woman somberly, eying her automatically for any injuries. He couldn't find any abrasions or limps from this view; only a woman in dark blue with a messy braid, possibly of watertribe descent. He raised his eyebrows slightly at this: after the epidemic, not many of the travelers coming into the city were watertribe. He could count them on one hand, probably.
-------------------- "I want a brother." said Seki cheerfully, bounding ahead. "Someone to play games with, and go exploring." "You do that with me." sulked Buto. "Yeah, but having a brother too would be cool. Then we could play teams when Kinta comes over." Seki cocked his head to the side ot listen to Kin's question. "Nonono. We're in South Petal- the park's in the middle. See, there?" Seki pointed at the quickly approaching clump of trees. For Seki, it was a normal sight, but for most travelers the parks were a complete contrast to the desert outside.

Kin's eyes openend and the emerald of his eyes sparkeled to the sight of the beautiful park and said "Its so... Beautiful It's beauty matches... Lia" The group ran up to the park, out of breath and panting Kin said "So Seki where is your mother?."

Up until now, Nami had acted very uncharacteristically. She had bounded around the city, smiling and happy to explore the new city. When she saw the man raise his eyebrows at her, Nami suddenly reverted back to her normal temperament. All of a sudden, she was self-conscious and had to struggle to speak.
"Hello," she said awkwardly, shuffling her feet and looking down as she spoke. "I realize this must be horribly unusual, but I am new to the city and was looking around and saw your clinic and..." Nami stopped and took a deep breath to stop her rambling. She forced herself to raise her eyes and try to be professional. "What I'm trying to say is I'm a waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe and have been trained in healing. I'm new in the city and was wondering if you needed an assistant."
Nami waited, heart pounding, wondering if the look on his face was because of her appearance. Nervously, she fiddled with the end of her braid and waited for an answer.

Pao opened the door a little farther and looked the girl up and down, as if sizing her up. He gave her a piercing but thoughtful gaze, then opened his mouth slowly as if to say something very important. "Would you like to come in and have some tea?"
-------------
"What's Lia?" Seki laughed, excited at the sudden run. He ran in a circle around Kin, just for good measure. "We live in the middle. Down the path a ways, then to the right. There's a little gate, that my mom had put in when I was little so I wouldn't disappear." announced Seki. "She should be there."

Kin Looked down at Seki who from running around made Kin dizzy, "Lia's not a what, but a who, I knew her a while back. We were very good Friends, we took different paths of life, different journeys" Kin told Seki. The group started to walk up towards the way of the gate and finally approached it.

Nami looked around, judging the height of the sun. She could probably still make it before the sun set. Besides, it would be rude to refuse. "I'd like that," she said, moving into the doorway.
