Im listening to it now.
Im not even three hours into it, and already its shaping up to be one of the best books ive ever "read".
recently, a new version of it was released on audiobook. with multiple female and male voice actors, some backround music when approiate, and a slight echo to indicate weather the charcters are inside or outside.

This book is constantly laced with themes of Philosophy, politics, economic intrigue, religion, and history of the fictional world.
some might consider those topics dry... yet I am honestly interested in them because the author never loses sight of the importance of the characters.
I honestly care about what happens to Paul, his father, Jessica, and even the doctor betrayer. and the author never loses sight of them through the plans.
(true, im not verry far into it, but i feel this trend will continue.)
It kind of reminds me of "shogun". only I have gotten into it much quicker, because the characters are much easier to identify with, with their western ideals of compassion.
This book has such a huge cult following that it is now considered a classic, and the only Si-Fi classic that I know of.
be warned though, it is considered fairly "advanced" reading for a fictional book with modern language.
