They were talking about it in /co/ I hear 4chan is getting shut down for good now. The entire 4chan? O.o I can understand the /co/ portion but the rest of 4chan? I know the rest of 4chan talks about different subjects. I can only guess a lot of illegal stuff have happened through out 4chan in order for it to be totally shut down? Leaks happen all the time in 2ch, but I didn't expect much to happen from 4ch. Thought 4ch would be much milder and controlled until I went there. That day was my first and only real visit to 4ch, which I'll remember forever. So does this include icons of BR? Yep. Didn't you see Tungsten's post? Any sig pictures, avatars, and even little icons of BR are not allowed anywhere until May 6th. It's more like "temporary amnesia" around the forum. Forget everything you saw or heard until that very day. (I should not have posted that screenshot. although, it was bound to happen one day. -_-; Sorry sorry... My fault. Had no idea that member was going to use it in their sig. >_<.......^__^ I support Musogato's decision.)

I wonder what is at stake, for the head honchos having to pull down all threads about BR. Something smells here.

The staff has taken similar positions on unaired episodes in the past. I doubt there's anything serious going on concerning the decision. Just a few more days 'til the DVDs are officially released.

Yup we are just being careful about illegal leaks being discussed here. Its nothing new we did the same thing with DOBS and other leaks. Nothing is wrong.

I'm sort of glad that all discussion is banned. The spoilerwhoring was getting out of hand.

Illegal is a very strong word. How illegal is to release information and media of a DVD that hasn't been sold in its street date, but is in stock in stores? And what are the repercussions of discussing that information on the internet? I know my questions are sort of common knowledge to you, but I'm not from the US, so I don't really know how it is there with these matters.

I know my questions are sort of common knowledge to you, but I'm not from the US, so I don't really know how it is there with these matters. Ripping a DVD earlier than its street release date can be equalivalent to Hong Kong bootlegs and tv-links.co.uk (where those people got found out and arrested). The person who ripped the DVD was pretty much risking his own job doing so. I don't think the store's manager found out about this but....it is pretty serious if caught. Example wise, say exclusive video game footage got leaked onto the web even earlier than its Japanese street release date in an english website. The game company tracked down the site and literally mailed a letter within one day for that video to be taken offline or legal actions would be taken to shut the site down. Some companies are more protective over their material than others. It's all up to those head honchos of how they see things. Likewise, we know Viacom's response to the Avatar fanbase on Youtube. >_> Except, they're being too paranoid about it.

The thing is I don't see how discussing the episode can result in the forum getting in trouble. It seems to have been a consistent rule on DH, like with DoBS and such, but we've never been told why we can get in trouble for this. Not that this is necessarily the case, but it just ends up making staff look like they're being paranoid and jumping to conclusions.

But this way we are being aware of the situation on how the episode was leaked. Not to mention that discussing illegally leaked episodes makes the board look bad. It also showing we have no self restraint. And really I think everyone can wait for a bit until the DVD comes out to discuss this. A lot of it is simply having moral integrity and taking the high road on something like this.

It's more a case of what Blind Bandit said. Of course, the way he said it, it sounds so nice, and all is well, but the way Kaneda puts it has value too. It does seem paranoid - although it's been admitted that the possibility of the forum being in trouble is minimum. I'll just leave this case to rest because there isn't anything left to say. It's the forum policy.

I know it may sound like we're being paranoid about the situation but the thing is DH isn't an underground community. Being one of the bigger Avatar communities, we are under the radar of the bigwigs ie Viacom. Greg Baldwin and Sifu Kisu visit this forum as well as this place being a popular visiting spot with alternatecoppa (which by the NYCC vids I've been seeing is in now sipping champaign with the big boys now XD) and other big Avatar fans like Avatar Mom, Pooldude, etc. It's not far fetch to assume that Viacom won't notice us and if we do something that Viacom doesn't approve of the hammer will fall on us hard.
If we got in trouble with Viacom, I'm not going to lie proboards would drop us without a second of hesitation. Keep in mind this forum has had problems with proboards just for having under 13 year olds as forum members and have threatened to shut us down. I know it sucks to wait a week but it's better than having the forum being shut down among other things. Cliche as it may sound it's better to be safe than sorry.

Well... not really. I'm not 21 yet. But they bring sparkling apple cider just for me! Just 'cause he got to be at the panel... *grumble grumble*
