"It's not your fault." Fenny murmured as she sank into the sand nearby. "I don't remember much either. At one point we were going to get some lunch I think, and then I don't really remember anything... just the sand, and then fighting, like you said." Fenny closed her eyes, trying to retrieve the memories of what she had done. But it all slipped through her fingers as easily as the sand at her feet.

"At least everyone is okay." Matsu dropped his head into the sand, not caring if he had a pillow or not. He watched Fenny for a brief moment, glad she was okay, before closing his eyes. Matsu was sound asleep within a few seconds.
Hati was trying to get up the courage to reply to Noa when he was suddenly kissing her. She had never been kissed like that, it was if all his feelings were carried in that one moment. The heaviness weighed on her as he held onto her. She put his hands against his chest and pushed back lightly. "Noa..I've only known you for a little while, it hasn't even been a week...I..." She couldn't bring herself to say that she didn't mean to say it. Why was he so excited anyway? Shouldn't he have realized something was weird about her saying that? She flushed and looked away from him.

Fenny opened her eyes to see Matsu already fast asleep in the sand. She smiled wryly to herself, noticing how once again they were thrown together. But it was alright: having Matsu constantly nearby, she had grown accustomed to having him around. She hadn't had any sort of companionship like this since she was very small, she suddenly noticed. Once she had started dancing, most of the girls were very competitive. And after the attack, she had mostly kept to herself for self-preservation. She hadn't realized how much she had missed just having a friend. Fenny settled herself to a more comfortable position by the tent wall, only just out of the way of Matsu's sprawled form. She watched contentedly through the tent flap as for the first time the night fell over the sleeping caravan.

Noa blinked as he saw her turn away, "You...you what? But you said it. You feel the same way don't you. He loosened his arms but kept his hands held around her back. "I wasn't sure at first but now I am, you do feel the same way about me. See, you not even getting mad. You don't need to get embarassed." He scooched closer to Hati to hug her again and lean his chin over her shoulder. He didn't know what else to say, not even bothering to think of any words. He just knew he was happy.

Hati cursed up and down and cursed everything in her mind while she let Noa hug her. One hand went up and absently ran through his hair as she struggled to tell him still. She let out a soft sigh, oh well, let him think it, it couldn't hurt him. As long as the next day he didn't propose Hati supposed she could let him believe that she loved him. True, she cared about him a great deal...but love? People who loved each other were supposed to get married and have kids, at least thats what she had learned. Not to mention they were supposed to stay together, what if Hati met someone better then Noa? Well, she doubted that. Hati leaned her cheek against his and closed her eyes. "Aren't you supposed to say 'I love you too?' " She asked in final glorious defeat. That was something Hati would have never done before, before she would have just immediatly told him what happend, heck, before she probablly wouldn't have even told him she loved him. Was she really lying to him so she wouldn't hurt his feelings? Maybe...just maybe she really did love him. Hati just hoped this didn't come back to bite her.

Saiki forced herself not to shrug and remove Abeni's hands from where she was gripping onto her. Instead, she watched the sun as it traveled below the horizon, taking with it the light. The sandbenders were getting antsy; they had expected to be gone before the sun set, but now it seemed that they would remain at camp for a little while longer. Saiki felt a cool breeze against her face and tried to relax, but her mind was too busy to relax for even a moment. Her head was swimming, but she refused to close her eyes and kept her face still as stone.

"I love you." He said soft against her ear. His heart began to steady again from the sudden burst of excitement. And just as he was relaxing his aches and fatigue were coming back to him. But he ignored. He would fight it just to make the moment last even for just a little longer, his eyes half closed as he laced eased one of his hands against Hati and lace his fingers with her. He didn't say anything. He just listened to his and her breath and the ocassion wave of breezes whistling around the tent.

Hati let out a soft sigh, listening to his words sent a shiver down her spine. She held his hands loosely while they relaxed. She had never seen Noa this still before, and in all honesty, it was a little nerve wracking. She finally decided to break the silence. "You should sleep Noa, tomorrow we'll be in Lotus City, you have to help me- remember?"

Fighting the fatigue, when Hati finally suggested for him to rest, he gave up. Kissing her shoulder he said, "Then you should sleep too." He then retreated his arms from her and snuggled himself slowly onto the ground. He wanted to stare a her a little longer but his eye lids became heavier. His eyes then closed still smiling.

Ryu barricaded himself and his brother in his usual rock-armored tent. He was fuming, more at himself then anyone. He had put some trust in Geming, and now it was very clear that Geming was just plain violent and insane. He couldn't have his brother anywhere near someone like that. Now what the heck were they going to do in Lotus City?
"Brother.... I want to see Abeni."
Yasu's words fell on deaf ears. Ryu's mind was occupied with his frustrations.
"Ryu. Matsu looked really beat up. We should see if he's okay. And I wanna see Fenny," Yasu missed Fenny. He hadn't been able to see her much lately and she had been very nice to him. Having only his brother left of his family, Fenny had become his female role model.
Ryu's mind drifted on the realization that Fenny was a firebender. Somehow, he was not totally shocked. But he had to admit she was very good at hiding it.
"Ryu!"
His younger brother's voice finally caught Ryu's attention. He looked at his brother and shook his head.
"We can't bother with that stuff right now. You need to get some sleep. The city is only a day away." He said simply.
"But Ryu...." Yasu began. He was quickly silenced by a silent look from his brother. Ryu was a professional at conveying what he meant through non-verbal cues. And Yasu, after living with them, was a professional at reading them. He curled up and slept, hoping his elder berother would allow him to see his friends tomorrow.

Rashad looked around wearily as he observed everyone leaving to their tents. That was some fight. He wandered around, picking a few fights with other sandbenders about what was going to happen as they went to Lotus City, in the end though his opinion didn't matter. Now that they were so close to the city, Rashad abandoned the idea of joining the sandbenders for a job. He could always find a job within the city. Now, he was just flat out tired. He stumbled through the campsite, hardly noticing where he was at. He staggered towards a tent, but then he noticed it was occupied. Not caring, he moved his hands, smoothing the sand beneath him. Probably, all the tents were taken. He collapsed in front of it and quickly fell asleep.

Fenny's breathing evened off to a slower rhythm as it grew dark outside, just listening to Matsu breathing and the wind whistling at the tent flap. Not many people were out and about: some sandbenders had packed the extra materials back on the sandsailor, but then they had join the rest for a break while everyone rested from the fight. It almost felt eerie, all the quiet. Normally she keeled over from exhaustion in her tent from the crazy antics of the day, then got up to repeat it all again the next day. But right now there was no fighting, no talking, no packing, nothing. Fenny shivered with vague paranoia. If she couldn't take peace and quiet now, what was she going to do when she reached the city?
After some time she must have finally closed her eyes, because she woke up a little while later, slumped over somewhat in the sand. She bolted upright as quietly as possible when she figured out where she was, hoping she had not fallen on top of Matsu and made any of his injuries worse. She looked blearily out of the gap in the tent flap; it was still somewhat dark out, but the sandbenders had begun taking down their tents for the last leg of their journey.

Matsu stirred sleepily. "Whats going on Kauri?" He muttered as he sat up. When he opened his eyes he remembered he wasn't at home. He blushed with embarassment, he could see Fenny out of the corner of his eyes. "Are they packing up?"
Hati rolled into Noa out of annoyance. "Noa, they won't shut up." She sighed aggrivatedly. She had woken up when the sandbenders had first started packing up. With a sigh she pulled back from Noa's sleeping form and got up, brushing the sand from herself.
Abeni had woken up, long ago, but unlike the others she didn't move. She just sat there, watching the sandbenders work.

Saiki noted vaguely that Abeni had woken up, her mind too tired to take much notice. She had kept herself awake, although she wasn't exactly alert. There were now a few sandbenders on the sandsailor with them, tying down the last of the cargo. Carefully, trying not to bump into Abeni, she stood up and stretched her arms and legs to keep her awake. She couldn't do much with the flurry of sandbenders around her, but after she had finished she felt more alert and looked around at the almost-packed camp.

Fenny turned her head suddenly when she heard Matsu speak to her, which caused the sliver of dawn light from the tent flap to fall across her face, making it look lopsided. She watched him quizzically for a moment, not understanding what he was talking about at first. She thought he had said "Kauri", which she was pretty sure he had mentioned as someone he knew sometime over the course of the trip, but after staring death in the face she really had no memory as to who exactly it was. She wrote it off as sleep or fever on Matsu's part, and tried to answer the second question instead. "They're trying to finish loading. I'm surprised they didn't leave while everyone slept... they seem ready to wash their hands of us." Fenny tucked some loose hair behind her ear and moved out of the light. It was bothering her, and making it really hard to focus her eyes inside the tent. "Are you feeling any better?"
