well the title says it all.
The NFL has pulled the plug on NFL Europe. I can see where they're coming from, seeing it cost more money then it made. But unfortunately this means that the one American football team I supported is gone too.
No more Amsterdam Admirals. I understand that you couldn't care less about it, seeing as nobody really watched NFL Europe (from what I understand). But I need a few minutes on my own to sob over the admirals. *goes to sit in a corner and sobs*
My question to you guys: Did they come to a decision a little to fast regarding NFL Europe?
I myself think that the NFL Europe still had some potential. Due to bad marketing the NFL Europe isn't well known in Europe itself, which makes all the difference. Take my own team for example, the admirals. They weren't well known until one day they won the super bowl. People were surprised that we even had an American football team. In the years that followed the admirals managed to establish a fanatic supporters group, which was growing by the year. Again, if the NFL had a better way of promoting the NFL Europe in Europe itself rather then America I think people would have given it a shot. People didn't because they were simply oblivious of its existence.
I say; ‘I think people would have given it a shot’ because I don't have any reference materials that support my claim other then the popularity increase of the Admirals.
In other words: yes they came to a decision to quickly. It's failure can't be blamed on Europe and it's people but on the NFL itself who have been to indolent regarding the organisation, planning and most of all the marketing.
