that's true and i also hate how some people pass the ball too hard and you end up hurting your finger.

haha I'm sure there aren't more soccer or football injuries in regards to some of the martial arts! Besides soccer and football are controlled as well... There's a referee for a reason. Also those american football players are all wrapped in body armour, sure it gets the wind knock out of you, and I'm sure it's a tough sport. But fighting is still far more intense. Just as you can’t play football for ten years you can’t fight for ten years either. here some footage from K1 max aka muay thai And K1 aka Kickboxing. (and there are still more hardcore fighting sports out there, but I don’t know much about those) - drago, koaklai, buakauw- tyrone spong (turn of the music, cause it's just to much >_>- I just had to show you this one! =Dyeah but the referees an see everything that goes on in martial arts fighting because they are two people in ten people pile ups in the NFL its a battle royale down there. i'm sorry if i offended people and their likes of sports with my vicious post but i wanted to argue. i still stand by everything i said Well I'm sure you didn't offend any one, don't worry ^^ But what you're saying is rubbish that's all. Sure there are 10 people clashing into each other in contrast to fighting where there are only two. But the big difference is that with American football it's about scoring points, getting the ball across the field. And with fighting you score points by mauling the other to a point that he's inapt to fight. American football doesn't centralise on the point that you have to hurt, beat, and destroy your opponent like fighting. Also where there are rules that bind the players when it comes to use of force, some tackles are allowed and some aren't. And the fact they are protected by armour, should minimize damage. The rules and protection with fighting are limited. Ok there's a referee to keep things a little in check but even his role is limited. Of course American football is a tough sport, I never denied that. I respect what they can endure but fighters have to endure a whole lot more! Sports like muay thai, kickboxing, shooto, San Da are pretty hardcore in my opinion. And still there are brands of fighting out there that are even more intense. I'm just making the comparison between American football and K1/K1 MAX/shooto simply because they are the most watched fighting sports. Now this was interesting to discuss ^^

THIS is a sport, ladies and gentlemen. Not that thing that jocks do thinking they are cool doing it but actually being pussies in comparison with those people over there... And Muah Thay, for that matter, but Taekwondo is just a bit cooler ^^.

The worst sport in the world is cross country, you run about 10 miles a day for a 3 mile race. Who in there right mind would do that.

I really dislike wrestling. It is so disgusting in my opinion. I'm a cheerleader (like it or not...it is a sport. As my favorite t-shirt goes "Most athletes lift weights/Cheerleaders lift other athletes"), and when I cheer at wrestling matches, the guys wear their uniforms, if you can even call them that, are way too tight and you see way too much...if you catch my drift.

I really don't like American football or cheerleading.
Nor do I like golf. It just seems somewhat boring to me. I love baseball though.

No it isn't. You're trying to grab a ball. If you can't handle a guy or two landing on top of you, you're a p****. Simple as that. Whether or not referees see everything or not is irrelevent, the only time a ref intervenes is if you're so exhausted you're hanging on to the other guy, or if he kicks you in the balls. In football, it's illegal to grab somebody by the shoulders from behind and pull them to the ground. It's illegal to lead with your head. It's illegal to step on them. You wear helmets, cups, pads. You aren't HIT in football, you're pushed. Football is, for the people in danger, pushing, jumping and running. That's all. People's lives are ruined because they step on your leg (Marcus Vick anyone?). In Martial Arts, you're lucky to make it ten years without having to stop, you're INCREDIBLY lucky to make it 3 without a broken bone. The worst sport in the world is cross country, you run about 10 miles a day for a 3 mile race. Who in there right mind would do that. I do. You hate it because it's "hard". That's YOUR fault, not the sport's. So what? You need that for wresting. It doesn't make it "disgusting", I think cheerleading is disgusting because all it is is synchronized swimming on land (without the difficulty), and cheerleaders say it's a sport.

one yah it is about scoring points but there are also instances when someone steps on your head in cleats. and ten ppl pile ups are ok until they start doing anything to pry the ball from your hands like biting your fingers and punching you in teh balls.

Have you ever PLAYED football? You're wearing a helmet, so who gives a philoprogenitiveness if they step on your head. How the hell are they gonna bite your finger, and you're wearing a cup.

Yeah, football playes wear a lot of protection, whereas some martial artists wear absolutely no or as few protection possible.

Hmmm. This thread has quite the potential to go south on us.

Guys, keep it civil in here. Don't take it personally if someone says they don't like the sport you play. It's their opinion, and arguing about it won't change their opinion at all, I can guarantee it.

^yes thanks for intervening with a bit of order.
I was just reading this whole thread (I do that so that I don't miss anything that's key to the conversation.), and you guys are brutal! I just want to say that whether you like or dislike to play a sport is different than if you like to watch it or not. As for me, I love to play softball, but hate to watch it. It's only exciting for me if I'm right there. I really don't like to watch baseball, gridiron football, or soccer. But sometimes it is fun to toss the ol' pigskin with your old man! And baseball is the starting point of softball, so of course I'd like to play it if I were used to the rules. Soccer, I've never been that fond of it, but I wouldn't really insult it.
So come on now, let's not turn this into a full fledged bash fest.

^^^yeah, we're always going to have sports that we only love to play and the ones we really only love to sit down and watch and possibly bet on...and lose lot's of money and....oh yeah OT hehe
But football is nothing, try playing hockey!! That sport can literally kill you. Constant black outs, bruises, broken bones, it will literally kill you. I was lucky enough to escape all of that.
Morashiz: I totally agree with marital arts being just as dangerous. People underestimate the skill and concentration and focus that is involved. You just can't go up to anyone and say *smack and do like a scorpion kick. That's not going to go over well. Marital arts goes both ways, for the trainer and the victim. You have to take into account the danger behind it.
